While some people are recreating Star Wars "Cantina Band," with a pencil, this guy is taking things to the next level with a Rubik's Cube. The Cubician, as he's called, not only played the iconic song using the puzzle toy, but managed to solve it as well. Sure, he probably figured out how to solve it beforehand as evidenced by the notes above his sheet music, but it's still better than I can do even with instructions! Check it out below:
One of the most infuriating games that is all over Twitch and YouTube these days, other than Cuphead, is a little indie title known as Getting Over It. It is the basic function of using your pickaxe-like tool to lift your character off the ground and over various items in your path. Once you reach the top, gravity starts to go because you are officially in space. Once in space, you have successfully gotten over whatever that pile of garbage that litters the world is all about. I think simply calling that pile "it" is truly fitting.
While there are a multitude of players that have yet to even successfully complete the game, or even a section of the game for some players, it is amazing to see how a simple game can be so difficult. Then we get to the speedrunning community and find that we are all just simpleton gamers with inadequate skills.
The latest World Record speedrun for Getting Over It will make you want to never touch the game again. With a record for ONE MINUTE AND 56 SECONDS, YouTuber Distortion2 puts us all to shame. Look at this:
So many gamers, so many hours, all a waste. After all the time that we put into this game, that should be simple might I add, doesn't compare to how much this guy must of played this game. His perfect placements that pulled him through the map was just outstanding and to one-shot the bucket lift was just so sick!
I don't think I will ever be able to get myself to a speedrunning skill level, but it is always amazing to see such a high skill and knowledge level on a game. I hope to see this at AGDQ this year or next, but seeing as it is such a short run I will likely miss it. How do you feel after watching this impressive run? I find myself in a mixture between angry, appalled, and amazed!
A lot of fans have been wondering why Rian Johnson didn't include The Knights of Ren in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. This group of evil warriors led by Kylo were set up by J.J. Abrams in The Force Awakens, and many people feel that it was a waste not to use them in the second chapter of this new trilogy. I'd love to know what their place is in the story, but that's just going to have to wait for Episode IX.
Johnson has offered up an explanation of why The Knights of Ren weren't used in his film and I'm sure the explanation won't make some fans happy. He basically says that if he did use them, he would have had Kylo kill them off. While appearing on the Empire podcast, the filmmaker said:
"I guess I could’ve used them in place of the Praetorian guards but then it would feel like wasting them because all those guards had to die. And if Kylo had some kind of connection to them it would’ve added a complication that wouldn’t have helped the scene… Truth is, I just didn’t see a place for them in the movie."
So there you have it. The scene that Johnson is referring to is the one where he and Rey temporarily teamed up to epically take out the Praetorian guard. If that's the only place that Johnson felt that he could have used The Knights of Ren, I'm glad he didn't use them! I'd like to get some kind of history and action out of them before they are killed off!
We still have one more film in the trilogy to go and I'm sure that J.J. Abrams will use The Knights of Ren. In the process, I hope that he answers all the questions that have arisen over the course of the first two films!
Starz has released an epically entertaining trailer and poster for Ash Vs. Evil Dead, and as you might expect, it's packed to the brim with bloody action and hilarious humor. I love this series and the insanely fun journey that Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell have taken Ash on. His adventure continues as he learns that he has a daughter who is being hunted by the deadites and he has to keep her safe. Along the way, they will be working on their extremely dysfunctional relationship. If you've ever wondered what Ash would be like as a dad... you're going to find out!
The third season finds Ash, having gone from murderous urban legend to humanity-saving hometown hero, discovering that he has a long lost daughter who’s been entrusted in his care. When Kelly witnesses a televised massacre with Ruby’s fingerprints all over it, she returns with a new friend to warn Ash and Pablo that evil isn’t done with them yet. Blood is thicker than water in the battle of good vs Evil Dead.
The series also stars Lucy Lawless as Ruby, the unpredictable foe and occasional ally who has strong ties to the origin of the Necronomicon; Ray Santiago plays Pablo Simon Bolivar, Ash’s loyal sidekick and eternal optimist; and Dana DeLorenzo returns as Kelly Maxwell, orphaned in Season One and ready to kick some evil ass. Ash's daughter, Brandy Barr, is being played by newcomer Arielle Carver-O’Neill.
Ash Vs. Evil Dead returns to Starz on February 25th!
The team behind the Netflix series Narcos has developed a new crime thriller series that is coming out called The Mechanism and today we have the first trailer to share with you. The series was inspired by real events that took place in Brazil and this is the synopsis that came along with the trailer:
Get ready to join a small group of dogged investigators on the hunt to discover the inner workings of the biggest corruption scheme of all time and the impact their pursuit will have on everyone involved - including themselves.
The Mechanism looks like an interesting and intense show that I'll definitely be checking out. It comes from José Padilha (Narcos, Elite Squad 1 & 2, RoboCop) and Elena Soarez (Filhos do Carnaval, Eu Tu Eles, Casa de Areia).
The series stars Selton Mello as Marco Ruffo, a retired federal police deputy obsessed with the case at hand; Carol Abras as Verena Cardoni, Ruffo’s gutsy mentee; and Enrique Diaz as Roberto Ibrahim, an outlaw who lies at the heart of Ruffo’s obsession.
The Mechanism premieres March 23rd, 2018.
As many of you have already read, a rumor recently surfaced regarding Spider-Man and how he would be appearing in Tom Hardy's upcoming Venom. Well, the source behind that rumor, Jon Schnepp, is now doubling down on his scoop, but there is a little change to it. He originally said:
"I'm gonna say it right here on this show, Spider-Man is gonna be in Venom. For the last couple months, we've been talking about Venom, we've been hearing about how Sony's keeping it all separated. Spider-Man's in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but every other character that's in the Spider-Man universe is separate."
Now in a recent episode of Collider Heroes, he remained confident that Tom Holland is going to be in the movie, but not as Spider-Man, this time he says he will show up just as Peter Parker. Here's what he said:
"Tom Holland was on set filming scenes on Venom for at least two days as Peter Parker. Ok, so I’m not saying that Spider-Man is in the film. When I say that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is in the film, I’m saying ‘Peter Parker is in the film. This is a cameo. I don’t know what it is. I didn’t read the script."
We still have no idea how Peter Parker will fit into the story, but if he was filming scenes for two days, he's not going to play a huge part in the story. They are obviously going to be changing things up from the comics.
Regardless of how Holland appears in the movie, if this is true, it means that this new cinematic Spider-verse that Sony Pictures is developing is at least loosely connected to the MCU and it opens up the possibility of seeing Spider-Man play within Venom's universe more in the future. This might just be a little way to set up bigger things to come.
Like I said before, I hope this is true! I'm just curious to see how Parker is going to be used in the story. Do you have any theories?
Venom is being directed by Ruben Fleischer and also stars Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate and Woody Harrelson. It's set to hit theaters on October 5th.
If you weren't aware. Last week Blizzard launched Overwatch League. A competitive esports league in side their game. It is the worlds first major global city-based professional esports league. Over the last week with the help of Twitch Overwatch league amassed a staggering 408,000 viewers per minute and 280,000 for the week. In total more than 10 Million tuned in to watch the action as 12 different teams battled it out, and that doesn't even count the huge amounts of watch parties world wide who were in attendance.
"We're thrilled by the overwhelming response to the Overwatch League's opening week of play," But this is only the beginning. With more than 35 million Overwatch® players, the Overwatch League has the potential to become one of the most-watched leagues—of any kind—in the world." - Pete Vlastelica, president and CEO of Major League Gaming (MLG).
"Since we announced Overwatch League at BlizzCon 2016, we've been eagerly awaiting the day when the global competitive Overwatch community could come together under one banner, Opening week was that coming-out party—for the fans, both in-person at Blizzard Arena Los Angeles and tuned in by the millions all over the world, and for the players, whose love for the game came through crystal clear." " -Nate Nanzer, Overwatch League commissioner. "
It's clear that Overwatch has created a league of it's own so to speak in the esports world. Time will tell if it becomes as big as some of the top esports in the world like DOTA or League of Legends. I would be really interested in seeing Madison Square Garden filled to capacity with people watching Overwatch.
As you know, Marvel is currently developing a script for a Black Widow movie with screenwriter Jac Schaeffer. Scarlett Johansson may have already met with him to talk about some of the ideas they have for the story. If she hasn't, she will soon.
Black Widow is such a great and complex character with an intriguing story. There's so much about the character to explore and Johansson is committed to exploring her more in a standalone film. While talking to Variety, she said:
"I’m invested in that character. Marvel is greatly invested in that character. If I did it, I’d have to do it while I still actually wanted to wear a skin-tight cat suit. I don’t know how much longer that’s going to be."
As for the direction the story the solo film could go in, there are so many different options to choose from. There are even different timelines that her story could be set it. When talking about the multiple choices they have to choose from, she said:
"I would like for it to happen under the right circumstances. I think there’s a lot of opportunity to mine that story line. She’s got a really rich origins story. There’s a lot of places you can go, you can bring it back to Russia. You could explore the Widow program. There’s all kinds of stuff that you could do with it. You could really uncover the identity of who this person is, where she comes from and where she’s part of.
"There’s plenty of back story. Or not. It could be something else. Where do the Avengers go? They are underground. What happens then? What happens after it all falls apart? There are so many ways you can go. I think it would just have to be very much like its own specific thing. It would have to have its own specific vibe. It would have been totally different than any of the other standalone films. I think if the fans wanted it enough, then it would probably become a reality."
Well, I think it's safe to say that the fans do want it. We've been asking for a Black Widow solo film for years. If they start developing it like this, and it doesn't happen, that's going to be a huge disappointment.
Whatever direction they end up taking the solo film's story, I'm confident that Kevin Feige and the Marvel creative team will do what's best for the character. What that is, is yet to be seen. While we wait for any story details to surface, what would you like to see from a Black Widow solo film? What direction would you like to see Marvel take?
The first trailer has been released for a crazy looking horror film called Ghostland and what I'm seeing is some high-energy nightmarish stuff. As you'll see, this story is going to be filled with some sinister content. I like what I'm seeing in this trailer and it looks like a film that I'll enjoy watching because I'm a horror movie freak.
The story begins in a house where a mother is forced to fight off intruders to save her two daughters. Still traumatized by the events that took place in the house, the girls grow up to have completely different personalities. When they reunite at the house once again, terrifying things start to happen. Here's the synopsis:
Following the death of her aunt, Pauline and her two daughters inherit a house. But the first night, murderers enter the house and Pauline must fight to save her daughters. A drama that will traumatize the whole family but especially affect differently each of the girls whose personalities will diverge further after this nightmarish night. While Beth becomes a renowned author specializing in horror literature, Vera gets bogged down in destructive paranoia. Sixteen years later, the family is reunited again in the house that Vera and Pauline never left. Strange events will then begin to occur…
The movie was directed by French director Pascal Laugier (Martyrs) and it stars Crystal Reed, Taylor Hickson, Rob Archer, Emilia Jones, Adam Hurtig, Anastasia Phillips, Mylène Farmer, and Alicia Johnston.
Ghostland then opens in US theaters sometime in April 2018.
