This Year’s Arrow-verse Crossover Will Feature Evil Doppelgangers From Earth-X

this-years-arrow-verse-crossover-will-feature-evil-doppelgangers-from-earth-x-social.jpg

The villains for this year's Arrow-verse crossover have finally been revealed, and they feature quite a few familiar faces. That's meant in the most literal sense as "Crisis on Earth-X" will feature an invasion from evil doppelgangers of all of our favorite heroes as well as The Ray, who is getting his own animated show on CW Seed. Check out the reveal in the tweet below and continue reading:

While it feels like the Arrow-verse is REAAAAALLLLLY playing out the whole multiverse concept, it will be cool to see evil versions of Supergirl and Oliver Queen, so I'm stoked for it nonetheless. What are your thoughts on the crossover reveal? Thanks, Slashfilm for the heads up.

Batman and Pennywise The Clown Face Off in Awesome Mashup Trailer

batman-and-pennywise-the-clown-face-off-in-awesome-mashup-trailer-social.jpg

I've got a really great fan-made mashup trailer for you to watch today in which we see Ben Affleck's Batman faceoff with Bill Skarsgård's Pennywise The Clown from IT. The video was created by YouTube user Adeel of Steel, and it's really fun to see how he crafted a story around Batman taking on Pennywise. He even makes sure to include the childhood fear that Bruce Wayne has that attracts Pennywise. This is a masterfully edited video that I think you'll all have fun watching, so check it out!

Chirrut Imwe Beats Down The Entire Empire in This Stop-Motion LEGO Parody Video

dxmaujat1i54jt7bnfm8.jpg

In a new parody video from How It Should Have Ended and Lego animators  Brotherhood Workshop we see Chirrut Imwe show off some pretty impressive martial art skills. Unlike Rogue One, we get to see a lot more of Imwe kicking imperial ass.

How it Should Have Ended says this short initially started out as a two-minute video for the South by Southwest Game Awards this spring, but it was so good they extended it to just over four minutes.

It’s a brilliantly choreographed bit of stop-motion, beginning with something pretty similar to the fight we got in Rogue One before escalating. A lot. You can watch it below:

Nicolas Cage Almost Played Sweet Tooth in a Film Adaptation of The Game TWISTED METAL!

nicolas-cage-almost-played-sweet-tooth-in-a-film-adaptation-of-the-game-twisted-metal-social.jpg

I have a lot of fond memories playing Twisted Metal with my brothers on the original PlayStation in the mid-90s. It was just such an incredibly fun game that focused on vehicular combat, which included lots of explosions, gunfire, heavy metal, carnage, and the sounds of roaring motors.

There was actually a movie in development at one point with director Brian Taylor at the helm. He's one of the guys who directed films such as Crank and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengence. Both of those were extremely wild films and he wanted to bring his crazy high-octane style to Twisted Metal and he wanted to bring Nicolas Cage along for the ride. Seems like the perfect combination of talent for a film like Twisted Metal!

When talking about the project in an interview with Collider, Taylor said:

“That was gonna be badass… It’s batshit. It was kind of like Fury Road before Fury Road in a way. The set pieces in Twisted Metal were kind of the same thing."

His version of the film was so big and ambitious, that Sony Pictures wasn't willing to give the film the budget that was needed. They didn't think there was an audience there because of the failure of the video game that was released 2012. The director went on to explain:

“It became like a ‘tweener. Sony came out with a new version of the game, didn’t really sell that well. So they had this property that was kind of like this ‘tweener. It was a movie that felt like it needed to be $50 million, but they didn’t feel that the fanbase really merited that kind of movie; it really wanted to be more of a $15 million movie, but the nature of it with the set pieces would’ve just made it too big.”

Had the film actually got made, Cage would have played Twisted Metal's raging insane mascot, Sweet Tooth.

"I wanted Nic Cage to be Sweet Tooth... Even Sweet Tooth is kind of like the Fury Road guy, you know it’s the mask and the clown with the crazy car. It kind of feels the same..."

Cage as Sweet Tooth seems like complete madness, which is why would have worked. Unfortunately, he just couldn't get Sony to sign off on his vision for the project, and he wasn't interested in compromising his vision with a drastically lower budget. In regards to that he says:

“It’s not worth doing it unless you can really push the envelope and do destruction people haven’t seen before. So I don’t know. it’s sort of in movie purgatory, but I tell ya it’s cool.”

It'd certainly be interesting to see Twisted Metal get an insane film adaptation. If it got made, I'd watch the hell out of it! Would you want to see a big screen adaptation of Twisted Metal?

DESTINY 2 Will Be Down For 6 Hours Today

destiny-2-will-be-down-for-6-hours-today-social.jpg

If you called into work this morning to play Destiny 2 all day, you're about to be super upset. Beginning at 9 a.m. ET the game will undergo a 6-hour maintenance period which means it'll be back up around 3 p.m. ET.

Bungie has not specified why they're taking the game down for that period, but the game is starting their "Faction Rally Event" tomorrow so it could be tied to that. As of writing, this is the third time since launch that the game's servers have gone offline for an extended period of time.

Hopefully, it happens less frequently going forward.

James Cameron Finally Starts Shooting AVATAR 2 This Week!

james-cameron-finally-starts-shooting-avatar-2-this-week1

James Cameron has been in pre-production on his Avatar sequels for years! It's been so long, and the release dates kept being pushed back that it never seemed like the movies were never going to happen. Well, this week Avatar 2 officially starts shooting.

The film will feature the return of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, Matt GeraldSigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang, who will be back as the main villain in all four Avatar sequels. When previously talking about that, Cameron said:

“The interesting conceit of the ‘Avatar’ sequels is it’s pretty much the same characters. There are new characters and a lot of new settings and creatures, so I’m taking characters you know and putting them in unfamiliar places and moving them on this greater journey. But it’s not a whole bunch of new characters every time. There’s not a new villain every time, which is interesting. Same guy. Same motherf*cker through all four movies. He is so good and he just gets better. I know Stephen Lang is gonna knock this out of the park.”

We all know that Cameron has got some epic ground-breaking plans for these Avatar sequels. I'm actually kind of excited to see what he ends up creating for the fans.

The current release dates for the upcoming sequels are as follows: Avatar 2 will hit theaters on December 18, 2020, Avatar 3 will be released on December 17, 2021, Avatar 4 opens on December 20, 2024, and Avatar 5 is scheduled to be released on December 19, 2025.

The first film, which was released in 2009, still holds the record for the highest grossing movie of all time with over 2.7 billion in worldwide box office grosses. Do you think this first sequel will break that? Are you excited about the upcoming Avatar sequels?

EDGE OF TOMORROW Director Doug Liman Likes His Sequel Idea MORE Than the Original Film

edge-of-tomorrow-cruise-blunt.jpg

While chatting with Yahoo! Movies about his upcoming film American Made, director Doug Liman dropped some interesting tidbits about the Edge Of Tomorrow sequel, Live Die Repeat and Repeat. That is the tentative title for the sequel to the movie that starred 3x Academy Award-nominated superstar Tom Cruise and Golden Globe-winner Emily Blunt.

Liman says that the sequel's unofficial title originates from his intended title for the first film: Live Die Repeat. But back then the studio didn't agree with his vision and wanted the safer and studio-friendly Edge of Tomorrow. Liman said, “That was an epic war between me and Warner Bros. that I lost.” However, Liman did eventually and unofficially when the studio decided to rebrand the film on home video, releasing it on Blu-ray/DVD with a much larger emphasis on the film's "Live. Die. Repeat." tagline.

Through Liman's career he has never returned for a sequel and admits he is hesitant about returning for this one, but it looks like Cruise's rough story idea - combined with unbelievable fan support - really got his wheels turning.

“Normally there are financial decisions behind making a sequel, but with this, it was just about us coming up with a story. Really, it’s not a world I was eager to go back to, because dealing with time travel can make your head hurt. But there was so much affection from fans of the movie — more than any of my other movies! — that Tom and I felt that we owed it to ourselves to at least think about what a sequel could be.”

Liman teases that the movie will pick up a little further than we might have expected:

"It picks up where the last one left off, but then we go backwards in time. I love it way more than the story of the original film."

It will be an interesting film if Liman turns the clock back even further than he did in the first movie. You may remember, Cruise was pretty harmless and scared in the beginning and only after dying over and over again, did he become a battle-hardened warrior.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what Liman does with this film. What do you guys think? What would you like to see?

A Man Haunted By a Tragic Event Turns to Time-Travel to Try and Fix Things in This Great Sci-Fi Short CRADLE

DUST has released a fantastic new sci-fi short film for you to watch called Cradle. The movie centers on a man who is haunted by his tragic past. He returns to the scene of his where this terrible event took place and he's determined to try to travel back in time to fix things. It's an inventive short where less is more. Here's the synopsis that came with the short.

A man (Dante Basco) returns to the scene of a terrible crime where he lost everything, determined to face his demons and rewrite a little bit of history.
A young man walks in to a dingy and seemingly abandoned building with nothing but a chair, a notebook and a backpack of supplies. He looks like he's been walking forever. After looking over the bleak surroundings, he sets up his chair in the middle of the room and begins to prepare himself.
After downing a large amount of food and water, he reaches into his pocket and retrieves a notebook. The notebook is filled from cover to cover with hand-drawn symbols, equations and notes. Near the end of the book are several pages containing patches, each with a hand-drawn value next to them.
The young man takes a patch with the value of '1' written next to it and applies it to his neck. He takes a deep breath, closes his eyes and then...

I won't give anything away, but I will say that even though the story is vague, it has a great satisfying ending! Also if the name Dante Basco sounds familiar to you, it's because it's the guy who played Rufio in Hook! Enjoy the film!

To Get a Pure Reaction of Terror From the Kids of IT, They Were Kept From Seeing Pennywise Until They Shot The Projector Scene

We've all heard the story of how Steven Spielberg purposely didn't show the young cast One-Eyed Willy's pirate ship until the day they shot the scene where they slid through the tunnels and into the water. When they popped up out of the water that was the first time they had seen the ship. The reaction of surprise and wonder on their faces was real and pure.

Well, director Andy Muschietti wanted the same kind of pure reaction from the kids who starred in IT when they first see Pennywise the Clown. Only he wasn't going for awe and wonder. No. He was looking for that real and pure fear and terror!

A new featurette for the film was released below and it focuses on Bill Skarsgard‘s unpredictable performance in the new film adaptation of Stephen King's IT. The filmmakers explain how they kept the kids from seeing Skarsgard's Pennywise The Clown, until the day that they shot the terrifying projector scene. The look of terror on those kid's faces are real, and many of them talk about what their experiences were like working with Skarsgard on the film. They never knew what he was going to do and it freaked them out!

Skarsgard was freakin' awesome as Pennywise! I couldn't have asked for a better actor to take on the role. Hell, he even got King's seal of approval.
