I am still not sold on Virtual Reality. It seems a little gimmicky to me still with a lot of pitfalls that need to be overcome. I do believe it has a lot of potential, I just don’t think we’re quite there yet. To highlight my point, here’s a video of a man named Perry trying out VR and ends up breaking his friend’s TV. That’s a bit of a problem. Luckily for Lame Videos (the YouTube channel that filmed and uploaded this), Perry bought them a new television. This reminds me of when the Nintendo Wii came out and everyone ended up throwing the controllers at their TVs. What’s your favorite VR fail?
Fans of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers might recognize the name, Jason David Frank. He was Tommy Oliver and has been in more episodes than any other character. He also is a kick-butt MMA fighter! Well, Frank has just upped his coolness in our nerd-eyes by donning this awesome Lord Drakkon costume. For those who don’t know Lord Drakkon, he is an evil Tommy Oliver from an alternate timeline who appears in the comics from Boom! Studios. The costume combines Tommy’s White Ranger and Green Ranger costumes to create a freaking awesome costume. Super fans may be a little upset that in the picture, Frank has Saba as his blade instead of the Dragon Dagger. I personally like this change and wish he could do a video in the suit. Maybe another Super Power Beatdown?
From Boom Studios' Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' universe, arises Lord Drakkon, the evil and older alternate version of Tommy Oliver. The ruthless leader of his world and the strongest enemy of the Power Rangers. I have now brought Lord Drakkon to life! This suit was a prototype made by @anikicosplay and I have on the custom white spandex suit made by @soniaralynn. Just testing it on. New professional photos coming soon @justinbetancourt. @boom_studios @powerrangers @kyledhiggins #powerrangers #lorddrakkon #tommyoliver #boomcomics #boomstudios #mightymorphinpowerrangers #anikicosplay #itsmorphintime #sabanapproved #sabanbrands
Omaze contests featuring activities with a celebrity are a dime a dozen, but occasionally, one catches my eye that I think would be just so hilariously awkward I have to share it. How would YOU like to have a candlelit dinner with Luke Evans? I'm not sure I would, I've only had about one in my lifetime and Luke Evans never particularly struck me as a dude I'd gel with, which got me wondering just how many people show up to these things and then realize they're in an incredibly awkward situation? Anyway, check out the video below, and wonder how those candles sit in that candlestick so firmly without ever tipping slightly.
As divisive as Star Wars: The Last Jedi is, there’s no doubt that some people (like me) will want to own it when it comes to Blu-Ray, 4K, and Digital. The reasons may vary from wanting to watch it to just having all things Star Wars. However, which copy should you get? There will be at least 5 different options for this movie when it comes out. First, you have your standard Blu-ray and Digital version. Then, for about $5 more, you can get a 4K version of the film as well. Third, we have a Target exclusive version that has the Blu-Ray, DVD, Digital copies and a 40-page booklet of behind-the-scenes information. The last two versions are Steelbooks that are exclusive to Best Buy; one has 4K and the other doesn’t. If you want a DVD copy of the film, you’re pretty limited to the Target option as of right now. Sadly, we don’t know details of different Bonus Features or even a release date, but you can go to any of the links to pre-order your copy of the movie now! Which version are you getting?
Australians seem to be pretty fun when they do interviews. I think they’re Britain’s version of Canada sometimes. As an example, Hugh Jackman was once a little upset at Jimmy Fallon over vegemite, so he showed Fallon how to eat vegemite. He didn't belittle Fallon, he just calmly explained how to properly eat vegemite. They just seem like lovely people. Does that civility change though when you dress them up like kangaroos with giant boxing gloves and have them answer trivia about Australia? Looks like they stay civil. Last week, Ellen Degeneres did this to Chris Hemsworth and Margot Robbie. Of course, it’s The Ellen Show and so everything was goofy such as when she asked Hemsworth what his address is. I think the best part of the clip was seeing them come out in their kangaroo pajamas (I think they’re pajamas) and Hemsworth is really getting into it. Who’s your favorite Australian?
I’ve seen some awesome Star Wars cosplay, and have even made a couple of decent costumes myself. It takes a lot of work to make a costume, but it can be extremely rewarding. If you don’t mind putting in a lot of time and liked Rey’s new costume for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, you will want to check out this free pattern from Mood. They call it "The Andromeda" and it looks awesome.
Mood is even kind enough to provide a list of recommended fabric and materials to use when creating this costume along with some basic instructions complete with pictures. The pattern includes the tunic, pants, belt, and wrist guards, but also contains some explanation for the obi and overlays. I think this costume looks amazing, and I could see people making small modifications to take it even further. What color fabric would you use for creating this great costume? Would you try to copy Rey, or add some flair to it?
I love going to the arcade and playing the different games to win tickets. It’s a blast to see what you can get at the end of the night with your 400 or so tickets. There’s one game though that I always feel like I get really close to winning, but almost never get the payout. Mark Rober is a former NASA engineer who has started becoming a YouTube star with videos such as how to win at carnival games. Well, this month he approached the arcade game Cyclone to see if he could create a machine to beat it. What he finds is that the game is a scam, but in the video, he shares his methodology and it’s interesting how he’s able to make that claim. What’s your favorite arcade game?
The Floppotron is back, and dammit, it was long overdue. This time around the massive orchestra of floppy drives and other miscellaneous old tech tackle The Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams," which sounds amazing when recreated like this. Check it out below, and let us know what your high score on Ski-Free was back in the day.
In the year 2030, what will the self-driving cars look like? Maybe that's getting a little ahead of things, because even in 2018, self-driving cars still need a lot of work. Mercedes-Benz is at CES 2018 giving folks a look at what the future may hold for this seemingly space age concept, but as of now folks are currently demoing a fancy looking car controlled by a guy with a joystick somewhere off camera. In either case, this video is cool to watch as it does give us a look of what the future of self-driving cars may look like, and the answer is "pretty neat."
Last week, during the surprise Nintendo Direct Mini, the company has confirmed that they are re-releasing the classic Hyrule Warriors from the Wii U and 3DS to the Nintendo Switch. This re-release, which will be called Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition will include all the DLCs from past games, all maps, characters, and quests. The Definitive Edition will also support a resolution of 1080p in TV mode, and a two-player split-screen support. To top it off, Nintendo will also include exclusive outfits from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Now, the game just revealed a new trailer courtesy of Koei Tecmo. Although the trailer is in Japanese, it clearly shows what we can expect from the upcoming re-release, an exciting combat gameplay on the Switch that will bring this classic title on the hybrid console, together with numerous additions.
The most important information showed in the trailer however, is a release date of March 22. During the Direct Mini, Nintendo only mentioned that the game will be released sometime in the Spring of 2018, but in this trailer, and as seen on a Hong Kong press release, it seems that the game will be released on March 22, at least in Asian territories. We’ll just have to wait from an official announcement from Nintendo regarding a global release date.
You can check out all the details from the Direct Mini here. However, Hyrule Warriors is not the only game that Nintendo plans to port to the Switch. Several classic games from previous consoles such as Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, Dark Souls Remastered, and The World Ends with You are all confirmed for a re-release.
What do you think of the new trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition? What other games from previous Nintendo Consoles would you like to see a comeback on the Switch? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
