It Was Depressing for Alden Ehrenreich When He Got Cast in SOLO

Apparently, it can be depressing to be cast in big films these days. The main reason is due to the secrecy and marketing plans that a lot of films are adopting these days. Just ask Alden Ehrenreich who recently played Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Most people would love to be cast in a Star Wars film and Ehrenreich was no different. However, he found it extremely lonely because he was not allowed to tell anyone. He told his family but wasn’t allowed to tell friends or anyone which led to this saddening account.

I called my family, I told them, but like, all my friends, I couldn’t tell anybody really and it wasn’t even going to be announced for three months. And so I didn’t know what to do, but I felt I should do something, so, I like went to the beach, by myself, and walked around. And there was the pier there so I went to the pier and I was like ‘I guess I’ll ride a ride.’ So I just rode a roller coaster by myself.

That is really sad to me. He’s gotten the role of a lifetime and he can’t go out celebrating with his friends. Maybe he was able to really party after the announcement was made though?

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Joins the Writing Room for VERONICA MARS Revival

I know we already posted the news that Rob Thomas hired his writing team for the Veronica Mars revival, but had to point out that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is going to be working on the show as a writer because that surprised me!

This will not be Abdul-Jabbar’s first foray into the TV and film world with him first appearing on TV in an episode of Mannix in 1971. His latest role will be in iZombie as Zed. There’s no word on if Abdul-Jabaar will make an appearance in Veronica Mars, but I think he’ll be a help in the writer’s room.

He has previously penned stories for Titan Comics’ Mycroft Holmes in addition to his basketball and acting careers.

Kristen Bell will reprise her role as the title character and her next adventure will revolve around spring breakers who are being murdered in Neptune, “thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into a mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.”

Fan Theory Posits that Mutants Already Exist in MCU and How We’ll Get the X-Men and Fantastic Four Introduced

Marvel fans are busy at work trying to find ways for the X-Men and Fantastic Four to become incorporated into the MCU. One fan has now posited their theory on Reddit and it includes the idea that mutants already exist in some form in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s long, but interesting.

Theory for Phase 4: Mutants Already Exist in the MCU from r/marvelstudios

What do you think? Do you have a better way for mutants and the Fantastic Four to become part of the MCU?

Ron Perlman, Tony Jaa, and T.I. Harris Join MONSTER HUNTER

I have no idea how Paul W.S. Anderson is going to adapt Monster Hunter into a movie. In the games, you track and hunt monsters and use their carcasses to create cooler armor and weapons. Then again, maybe its lack of storytelling makes it perfect for adapting. Either way, it is happening and there are three names being added along that of Milla Jovovich. THR recently reported that T.I. Harris and Ron Perlman were joining the film with the following character descriptions:

Harris is playing Link, a sniper, while Perlman will play a man named Admiral, the leader of the Hunter’s Crew.

We then learned in another report that Tony Jaa is joining the film as well. All we know about his role is that he will be “the movie’s male lead, a man simply called The Hunter.” How mysterious!

This isn’t Anderson’s first video game adaptation though. He was behind the adaptations of Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat. Do you think this movie will work out or is it doomed?

SOLO Gets an Honest Trailer and It Doesn’t Hold Back

I have not been shy about how I didn’t care about Solo: A Star Wars Story. I think it’s fine if you enjoyed it, I just didn’t. Well, Solo just came out on DVD and Blu-ray which means its time for it to get the Honest Trailer treatment. They do not hold back on the criticisms of the movie. There are a few things they don’t mention though that I’m shocked about such as him signing up for the Imperial Navy.

Benedict Cumberbatch Sets the Record Straight About Stopping a Mugging in London

doctor_strange2.jpg

A few months ago, we heard an account from Uber driver Manuel Dias about how Benedict Cumberbatch stopped a mugging in London. Now, Cumberbatch has shared his side of the story. He was on The Ellen Show recently and Ellen DeGeneres asked him about this story. Cumberbatch says that the story was dramatized, but he did help stop a mugging.

Basically what happened was... I saw a bicycle delivery guy getting surrounded by some guys on a very cold November night, and I just stopped the Uber that we were in and got out and tried to intervene, tried to calm the kids down, who were riled up. Tried to calm [the messenger] down, who looked like he was about to fight for his life.

You can hear the man himself tell the full story below:

DC’s BIRDS OF PREY Has Cast Huntress and Black Canary

We finally have the names of the actresses who will be joining Margot Robbie in Birds of Prey! Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World) will be playing Huntress and Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Friday Night Lights) will portray Black Canary. Robbie will be reprising her role as Harley Quinn for the film. We’re still waiting to hear who will play Cassandra Cain and Renee Montoya, but things are certainly shaping up for the film.

Jurnee Smollett-Bell 1

Cathy Yan is directing Birds of Prey which has been described as an “R-rated girl gang film” with the following synopsis:

After splitting up with The Joker, Harley Quinn and three other female superheroes – Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya – come together to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord.

Black Mask has been said to be the main villain of the film as well. Birds of Prey is currently slated to release February 7, 2020.

What do you think of the casting choices for Huntress and Black Canary?
