Elizabeth Olsen Has a Complaint About Her Scarlet Witch Costume

Female costumes are always being criticized by a wide variety of people. Then, those people are criticized for having an opinion. It’s the wondrous cycle of movies. In the past, we’ve covered the criticism that Justice League received for the change of costumes for the Amazons, and today we’ve got Scarlet Witch. Elizabeth Olsen was out promoting Avengers: Infinity War and told Elle the one thing she wishes she could change.

It would just not be a cleavage corset. I like corsets, but I’d like it to be higher. Everyone has these things that cover them—Tessa Thompson does, Scarlett [Johansson] does. I would like to cover up a bit. It’s funny because sometimes I look around and I’m just like—wow, I’m the only one who has cleavage, and that’s a constant joke because they haven’t really evolved my superhero costume that much.

I have really liked all of her costumes but can understand where she’s coming from. Olsen is aware that her costume is better than the original Scarlet Witch costume from the comics.

But then you look at where it started in the comic books and it was a leotard and a headband so…oh, it’s horrible, it’s so horrible. So at least they know that’s not cool. But then they made Wonder Woman, you know? And that’s what she’s in. I think of the costumes and what we have to wear—it’s more about iconic images, because that’s what these movies are…. I think that’s the goal with the costumes, and it’s not representing the average woman.

Hopefully, her costume can continue to evolve into something that Olsen can enjoy being in more.

Zoe Saldana Talks About Gamora’s Story Arc in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

This post contains major spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War, so proceed at your own discretion.

Zoe Saldana, aka Gamora, recently sat down with the LA Times to discuss her role in Infinity War. I had no idea that Gamora was going to die. I thought she was going to be safe. That scene was a little nuts, but helped flesh out Thanos as well as helping the audience sympathize with him. Also, did anyone else feel like her death was a bit more permanent than the deaths at the end? It is possible they will bring her back, but it felt like it might just stick. All of that being said, the interview gives us a bit of insight as to when Saldana knew she was getting killed off and that the only person she told was her husband.

How did you first find out about Gamora's fate? When did you read that script?
"I learned very early on. The producers called me and they told me. And of course there's a shock to your system. I'm so grateful, this run has been amazing, but you're so not even ready for that. But then once some of the things were discussed, I understood that it just makes sense. In order for you to understand the degree of evil that lies within the core of Thanos, you have to circle in on his own children. So I completely understood. I loved being a part of this unforgettable journey."
Who else knew, and who did you talk to about it?
"I think my husband and that's it [Laughs]. In the cast, they all knew. We all read both scripts. And even though we know that there are changes being made constantly, there were [some] solid, solid events that had everything to do with plot."

When asked if Gamora would make an appearance in Avengers 4, she said:

"I don't know. [Laughs] For the sake of the devoted fans out there — we don't want to rob them of an amazing experience. It's all for them that we do what we do and we also protect what we do."

There are more great tidbits in the interview including the fact that Saldana really enjoyed watching everyone else's stories in Infinity War during the premiere.

What did you think about how Gamora's story arc played out in the film? Do you think she will stay dead or do you think she'll come back? One thing we do know is that her soul is in the Soul Stone.

New Set Video from TITANS Features Robin and Maybe Wonder Girl

It’s been a while since I heard anything about DC’s upcoming show Titans. However, someone recently took a video on set that gives us a 10-second glimpse at Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson and Conor Leslie whose role is undisclosed, but many fans are guessing she will play Donna Troy/Wonder Girl. I still can’t wait for this show. I hope it kicks butt! It is important to note that the actors walked off after noticing that they were being filmed by someone other than their film crew. Someone took their smoke break at the right time. Are you excited?

Titans is set to premiere on DC's upcoming streaming platform later this year.

"Oh I missed you boy wonder" - #titansdc filming exactly where @richmanalina and I have our smoke breaks. The actor stormed off a few seconds after this because he noticed us taking vids ? #dccomics #teentitans @comicstorian @comicsexplained

Dwayne Johnson Teases Possible Movie Team Up with Chris Pratt

Dwayne Johnson recently took to Instagram to thank his fans for helping make Rampage the #1 movie in the world for two weeks before he acknowledges that he’s lost to Avengers: Infinity War. He goes on to congratulate everyone that worked on that film before going on to tease the possibility of him working with Chris Pratt. While I am getting a little sick of Johnson being in everything, I may be up for a film that features him and Pratt. Maybe Pratt will get a role in the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sequel that is in the works. Johnson says he has an idea, what do you think that idea is?

Every crazy movie idea/goal/ambition/dirty joke, goes up on my vision board inside the hallowed walls of the #IronParadise. Congrats AVENGERS on a huge box office opening worldwide! And THANK YOU fans for voicing your wants. As always, listening to you is my #1 priority - delivering for you is my #1 goal. I like the sound of it. Could be a cool movie.. a big movie.. a FUN movie. I have an idea. #RockPratt @prattprattpratt

There’s a HARRY POTTER Reference in the French Version of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Full disclosure: I do not speak French. However, there seems to have been a fun little reference in the French dub of Avengers: Infinity War. We will be getting into spoiler territory, so take this as your warning.

Ebony Maw is possibly the most fleshed out member of Thanos’ Black Order in Infinity War and although he is more than capable of handling himself against the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange, and Iron Man, Tony Stark can’t help but make sarcastic quips.

In the English version of the film, Stark compares Maw to Squidward from Spongebob Squarepants, but in the French version, he compares Maw to Voldemort according to Comicbook. Personally, I see more Voldemort than Squidward, so I wish this had been the actual line.

Neither of them has a nose, their both evil, and they’re obsessed with a rock. Of course, they are also both defeated by teenagers. Which comparison do you like more?

The Russo Bros. Discuss The Heavy Ending of INFINITY WAR and The Stakes Will Deepen in AVENGERS 4

I think this goes without saying due to the title of this article, but spoilers are coming.

Who else was blown away by the end of Avengers: Infinity War? From the sudden fading of many favorite superheroes to the dramatic and very sad end to Peter Parker, it was a crazy ending. I am sure many of you are sitting there complaining about how we know everyone who vanished will be brought back somehow and therefore the gravity of the situation was lessened, let’s remember there’s another movie that is a continuation. If this movie taught me anything, it is that Marvel will surprise me, and I love it. I love how everyone was wrong about who was going to die, including me. That being said, what do the directors, Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, have to say about that ending? In a recent interview with Variety, the Russo brothers talked about the need to make these superhumans vulnerable so that the audience can relate to them and Anthony goes on to say:

Unless you have real stakes, you’re sort of limited in terms of the emotional impact a story can have on you. You have to go to very difficult places for the stakes to feel real, for the characters to feel like they have something to lose, for the audience to feel like they have something at risk. What we’re looking for in storytelling or art is emotional catharsis. And that’s not simply getting what you want. It’s getting an emotional experience that makes you feel and respond to it and energizes you on some level.

I know many are going to bring up the point from earlier about the dead heroes coming back due to contracts and announced sequels. Not to mention, there’s no way Marvel would kill off Black Panther after his solo movie did so well. However, I think the statements that come next may help calm you down. Anthony starts saying:

I will say this: There is a real commitment on our end to the stakes. Yes, this is a fantasy world, and yes, remarkable things can happen in a fantasy world, but-

Joe then finishes the thought:

They come at an incredibly high cost. For us, there will always be stakes and the stakes have been progressing from film to film. And I think you can extrapolate that they will continue to deepen in ‘Avengers 4.’

I think that’s the key. What will be the cost of bringing those heroes back? Will Tony or Steve (or both) have to trade their life for their fallen friends? Tony feels personally responsible for the loss of Peter and is sure to do something reckless. However, did Doctor Strange hint at Tony being the key to defeating Thanos when he gave up the Time Stone to spare Tony? It’s hard to say, but I’m sure the stakes are going to get bigger. After all, that’s the pattern the Russo’s have established. In Winter Soldier, the stakes were S.H.I.E.L.D., in Civil War they were the Avengers and the relationship between Tony and Steve, in Infinity War we had at least 2 permanent deaths (Heimdall and Loki) with at least one more real possibility (Gamora). Why not ramp it up even further in Avengers 4 next year?

Avengers: Infinity War is out now and Avengers 4 is set to release May 3, 2019.

The Man Who Created Thanos Shares His Thoughts on Josh Brolin’s Portrayal

If you’re a big Marvel fan, you may recognize the name, Jim Starlin. For those that don’t, he’s the one who created the Mad Titan Thanos back in 1973. Thanos is the big bad guy in Avengers: Infinity War and I think Josh Brolin knocks it out of the park. I’m just a writer for a geek site though. What does Starlin think of the portrayal? He revealed this much on Facebook:

The Avengers the Infinity War! I really have to watch what I say here, so as to not spoil the many surprises this film holds (even for me). So let me stick with generalities, with a few specifics tossed in at the end, concerning Josh Brolin. Visually spectacular, as are all the Marvel movies. But this film hits emotional depths few of the others have even come close to, yet humor takes center stage at all the rights moments.

There are a couple times my chest constricted from what I was seeing, making me want to cry. You’ll recognize those instances when you watch the film. Brolin is an incredible Thanos, moving and emoting just as I tried to portray him in the comics. The movie’s two and a half running time shoots past nearly unnoticed. The thing is though, I feel I’m going to have to view the film a number of more times before I get a solid grip on just how good it is. Still at that rather stunned point.

Yes, I know my opinion should be considered a bit biased, because of my connection to the production but the Russos, Markus, McFeely and everyone else involved in this film get my heartfelt thanks for bringping everyone’s favorite Titan to life in the best way possible, in a jaw-droppingly awesome fashion. Ten out of ten thumbs up.

There you go. Starlin loved Brolin and I can’t argue. Avengers: Infinity War is out now, and if you haven’t seen it yet, I recommend that you do. You’ll want to see it multiple times. After all, even Starlin admits that he needs to see it a few more times to fully process the film.

New YU YU HAKUSHO OVA Will Explore Hiei’s and Kurama’s Past

I somehow missed that a new Yu Yu Hakusho OVA was in the works. This was an awesome anime that I have said should get a live-action adaptation. Imagine my excitement that after about 21 years we’re getting something new. The new OVA will be released with the 25th Anniversary Blu-ray box set according to Anime Mojo. A new key visual was released that details that the OVA will feature how Hiei and Kurama first met. I am really excited for this to come out! You can look for more details about the box sets over on Studio Pierrot’s official site.

Joel Silver Gives Update on SHERLOCK HOLMES 3

CinemaCon has been happening in Las Vegas and it’s given us a lot of info on upcoming movies. One that came as a bit of a surprise is a tiny update on Sherlock Holmes 3. In an interview with CinemaBlend, producer Joel Silver was asked about the fate of the third film, to which he responded:

Sherlock Holmes 3 is happening, that’s coming. That’ll probably get done maybe about a year from now we’ll shoot that, we’re excited.

I’m so excited! I loved Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes and I know many of you also enjoyed the first two films. A little over a month ago, Downey himself said that he wants to work on the film again. At this rate, my guess would be a 2020 release. Are you excited to hear about this update?

RAMPAGE Star Jason Liles to do Motion Capture for King Ghidorah in GODZILLA 2

When you think of Rampage, you probably think of Dwayne Johnson or maybe Naomie Harris. You probably don’t think of Jason Liles who did the motion capture for the albino gorilla George. Liles has previously worked on Men in Black 3 and Death Note and it looks like his next project will be Godzilla 2, the sequel to the 2014 reboot GodzillaTheWrap reports that he will be one of several motion-capture actors who will be working on bringing King Ghidorah to life. For those unfamiliar, King Ghidorah is an armless, three-headed, dragon-like monster.

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

The film will be directed by Michael Dougherty and it was written by Dougherty and Zach Shields. It will star Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, and Millie Bobby Brown who will play the family that the film centers around.  O’Shea Jackson Jr., Thomas Middleditch, Zhang Ziyi, Bradley Whitford, Charles DanceAisha HindsKen Watanabe and Sally Hawkins will all be reprising their roles as Monarch agents.

Godzilla 2 will hit theaters March 22, 2019, and Godzilla vs. Kong is already slated for May 22, 2020.
