Jon Stewart To Direct Steve Carell in His Political Satire Film IRRESISTIBLE

Jon Stewart has found his next film project. It’s called Irresistible, it’s based on an original idea that he came up with, and he wants Steve Carell to star in it.

Just in case you don’t remember, before Carell became the big star that he is, he was a contributor on Comedy Central’s news satire program The Daily Show with Stewart. So it’s kinda cool that the two will eventually be working together again.

There’s no information on what the story for the film will entail, but it is said to be a political satire film, which, as you know, is one of Stewart’s strengths.

Stewart previously directed the 2014 film Rosewater, which centered on journalist Maziar Bahari, who was detained by Iranian forces who brutally interrogated him under suspicion that he was a spy.

If you’re a fan of Stewart or Carell, this is a project that you’ll want to keep an eye on.

IT Star Sophia Lillis Set To Star in GRETAL AND HANSEL

IT star Sophia Lillis has jumped on board to take on the lead role in the upcoming film Gretel and Hansel, which is a reimagining of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale from Orion Pictures.

The story is described as being set “a long time ago in a distant fairy tale countryside and focuses on a young girl who leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil.”

Sounds like a it could be a fun and spooky horror thriller! The movie is being developed by writter and director Osgood Perkins, who wrote and directed the haunted-house horror movies The Blackcoat’s Daughter and I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House.

Lillis is a talented young actress and this should be a fun new project for her to be a part of. She will next reprise her Beverly Marsh role in It: Chapter 2 and is also set to star as the classic teen detective Nancy Drew in Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase.

Orion is prepping to start shooting the film in fall in Ireland.

WATCHMEN Artist Dave Gibbons Says The HBO Series is ” What The Fans Need, Not What They Want”

Damon Lindelof has made it very clear that the new Watchmen series coming to HBO is not and adaptation of the graphic novel. It will tell a new story set in the same universe and expand on that. Lindelof previously explained that "Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own."

Watchmen artist Dave Gibbons recently opened up about the series and sheds some light on what we should expect. He seems to love what Lindelof is doing with the series and tells Deadline that vision for the property is "exciting, entertaining, and absolutely worthwhile."

He goes on to note that the plan is for the series to "subvert the basic idea of what it means to be a superhero." He then makes an interesting comment regarding the series could end up being "what the fans need, not what they want."

That’s an interesting statement. For the most part, fans seems to like the direction that Lindelof is taking the series. I don’t think hardcore fans want to see a direct adaptation of the graphic novel. I personally want to see what Lindelof is doing with this series.

When talking about the new characters that will fill the story, Lindelof said:

"Some of the characters will be unknown. New faces. New masks to cover them. We also intend to revisit the past century of Costumed Adventuring through a surprising yet familiar set of eyes…and it is here we will be taking our greatest risks."

He also added:

This story will be set in the world its creators painstakingly built…but in the tradition of the work that inspired it, this new story must be original. It has to vibrate with the seismic unpredictability of its own tectonic plates. It must ask new questions and explore the world through a fresh lens. Most importantly, it must be contemporary. The Old Testament was specific to the Eighties of Reagan and Thatcher and Gorbachev. Ours needs to resonate with the frequency of Trump and May and Putin and the horse that he rides around on, shirtless. And speaking of Horsemen, The End of the World is off the table…which means the heroes and villains–as if the two are distinguishable–are playing for different stakes entirely.

The cast for the series includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith, and Adelynn Spoon.

Lindelof wrote and is executive producing the series and Nicole Kassell will direct and also executive produce. It will premiere sometime in 2019.

Anna Diop Confirms Starfire Will Get Her Classic Costume On TITANS

diop.jpg

The build up to Titans hasn’t been without controversy, and there’s been a few people who’ve taken issue with the show’s bold new take on the Teen Titans, and changes to their characters. Some have had something to say about Anna Diop’s Starfire, who is rocking a mink coat in a lot of the promotional photos for the show and not her traditional costume. Diop squashed the discussion that Starfire’s traditional garb doesn’t appear in the show, and set the record straight for Comicbook at New York Comic Con:

As soon as I put it on, everyone was flipping out. It’s awesome because it’s something that so many people have seen for so long and it means so much to people and this is the first time we’re bringing it to life, but you know — our story takes its time. It takes its time, it’s an origin story, so it takes its time in the characters coming to this place where you see them and the way that everyone’s always known. I hope that the audience can be patient with us and have fun with us. It’s a ride, and it’s a fun one.

The buzz for the first two episodes at New York Comic Con has been positive, but as someone who has attended San Diego Comic Con, I wouldn’t put a ton of stock in that. It’s not hard to get a crowd of people sitting in line for hours on end not to get excited about anything, much less something they stood in line half a day for. We’ll all get a chance to judge for ourselves soon enough anyway as Season 1 premieres on DC Universe Friday, October 12.

Is VENOM Really As Terrible As Everyone Says It Is? One Minute Movie Review

Venom is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and stars Tom Hardy and Riz Ahmed and is based on the popular Marvel comics villain that usually faces off against Spider-man. There is no web-slinger in this Marvel movie, but there is plenty of Venom to go around for everyone. With a rotten tomatoes score of 32%, Venom is not too pleasing to most critics, but is it REALLY as bad as they claim it is?

First Trailer For the 5th and Final Season of GOTHAM – “The Innocent & The Wicked”

first-trailer-for-the-5th-and-final-season-of-gotham-social.jpg

The first trailer has been released for the 5th and final season of Gotham. The trailer starts off with a recap of the series and then ends with a first look at what is in store for the final ten episodes. As you’ll see, Gotham City is looking pretty bleak after the events of Season 4.

Season 4 ended with Gotham City being turned to No Man's Land, following Jeremiah's destruction of the city's bridges, keeping anyone from coming into the city or leaving it. Gotham City is now overrun by villains, with only Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), and Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) left to defend it.

Good luck guys! It looks like they have their work cut out for them! I can’t wait to see how this series comes to an end!

Gotham's fifth and final season is set to air on FOX in 2019.

Every Time Matthew McConaughey Has Said “Alright” On Film In Chronological Order

every-time-matthew-mcconaughy-has-said-alright-on-film-in-chronological-order-social.jpg

Does Matthew McConaughey say “alright,” in films more than Owen Wilson says “wow”? After watching both videos I can answer that with an emphatic “yes,” and it isn’t even close. McConaughey has said “alright,” over 200 times on screen, which sounds unbelievable until you watch this video and see he says it at least 5 times a film. Check out the video below and see for yourself:

Were you disappointed in Venom? Are you currently questioning Tom Hardy’s abilities as an actor? Are you just down in the dumps in general? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this video is for you. While it won’t wash the taste of Hardy’s latest film out of your mouth, it will warm your heart to see the actor playing with dogs, and hopefully getting attached to better projects down the road. Check out the video below, and yell in the comments about how Venom was a good film if you’re one of those people who arrived to defend it:

Rami Malek’s Transformation into Freddie Mercury is The Focus on This New BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY Featurette

I imagine taking on a role like Freddie Mercury would be no easy task for any actor, but Rami Malek was up for the challenge! He really wanted this role in Bohemian Rhapsody and he completely dove into it to bring Mercury to life in the best way he possibly could.

We have a fantastic new featurette for the film for you to check out today that puts the focus on Malek’s drastic transformation into the legendary musician. It’s pretty incredible to see and hear what he went through to prepare for this role, and it looks like it’s all going to pay off.

Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They reach unparalleled success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences, shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. Having suffered greatly without the collaboration of Queen, Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid. While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.

The movie hits theaters on November 2, 2018
