Eric Bana Plays a Charming Psychopath in The First Trailer For DIRTY JOHN

The first trailer has been released for Bravo’s upcoming limited series Dirty John. The series is based on the true dark story of John Meehan, a handsome and romantic charmer who sweeps a woman named Debra Newell off her feet and ends up pulling her into his web of insane lies.

The movie stars Eric Bana and Connie Britton and it comes from Los Angeles Times reporter Christopher Goffard who hosted a podcast that told the crazy-ass story. Dirty John is the first season of a new anthology series. It will consist of eight-episodes that will follow the events of the podcast, but according to Vanity Fair, the series will “delve deeper than the podcast did, and will also explore different perspectives.”

Here is the official synopsis for Dirty John:

Debra Newell (Britton) has a seemingly perfect life: she’s successful, beautiful and lives in one of California’s most desirable coastal cities, Newport Beach. The only thing missing is love. So when she finally meets charming and handsome doctor John Meehan (Bana), she’s quickly swept into a whirlwind romance, much to the dismay of her daughters Terra (Julia Garner) and Veronica (Juno Temple). Their fast-tracked relationship creates tension between Debra and the girls, leaving them no choice but to investigate the stranger who has swept their mother off her feet.  And with a fraught family history, the backstory of Debra and her mother Arlane (Jean Smart) provides insight into why she may have been so vulnerable to John in the first place. As Debra gets drawn deeper into his lies and sinister game of psychological manipulation, it results in horrific consequences for an entire family.

Dirty John premieres on Bravo on November 25, 2018.

Check Out the Latest Trailer for DRAGON BALL SUPER: BROLY

The second trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Broly has dropped and there’s some stuff to unpack. First, it looks like this film will not just explore Broly’s past, but the history of Goku and Vegeta as well. We see King Vegeta bragging about his young son, Bardock and Goku’s mom are seen putting their faith in Goku, and Paragus is heard vowing revenge for the treatment of Broly. We’ll also get to see what appears to be Freiza’s first meeting with the Saiyan race alongside King Cold. Freiza appears to be joined by Zarbon, Dodoria, and the Ginyu Force as they arrive on Planet Vegeta. I’m getting really excited for this film. Dragon Ball Super: Broly is currently set to release in Japan on December 14, 2018, and it will then come to North America on January 16, 2019.

Claire Underwood is To Be Feared in The Best Trailer For HOUSE OF CARDS Season 6 Yet

Netflix has released a new full trailer for House of Cards Season 6 and it’s the best trailer that has been released so far. It offers us our best look at the final chapter in the series and it’s made very clear that Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) is a woman to be feared.

After her husband Frank Underwood dies, she becomes the first women President of the United States of America and she’s not going to allow herself to be controlled by anyone.

The trailer also gives us a much better look at Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear in the roles of Annette Shepherd and Bill Shepherd. They are “a sister and brother who inherited Shepherd Unlimited, a leading industrial conglomerate whose family foundations exert a powerful behind-the-scenes force in the American political landscape. The two share a vision for the future of America, as well as a complicated past with the Underwoods.” Cody Fern also stars in the series as Duncan Shepherd, “Annette’s ambitious and devoted son, who represents the next generation of DC power players.”

House of Cards season 6 also stars Michael Kelly, Jayne AtkinsonPatricia ClarksonConstance ZimmerDerek CecilCampbell Scott and Boris McGiver. The series premieres on November 2, 2018 on Netflix.

THE WALKING DEAD Showrunner Angela Kang Explains Negan’s Absence In The Premiere

negan.jpg

The Walking Dead returned for Season 9 on Sunday, and while many big characters made their return, Season 8 villain Negan did not. Showrunner Angela Kang explained (via Comicbook) why the big bad was left out of the premiere even though portions of the episode seemed to directly reference him:

The previous story, All Out War, was so Negan-driven, and I think when we enter this new chapter of the show, it’s a year and a half later, and the people are trying to move on. And so it’s like we’re trying to see the people in a world without Negan, except that Negan hangs over all the proceedings. There’s all these scenes where they don’t even say Negan, but it’s about Negan.

Negan will appear in episode 2, and we’ll get to see what he thinks of what he thinks of what Rick has accomplished 18 months after the end of Season 8. Negan’s been locked up that entire time, and The Walking Dead crew has teased we might see a very different Negan when Rick goes down to visit.

Are you excited to see Negan return? The Walking Dead airs Sundays on AMC at 9:00 p.m. ET.

A New Trailer For M. Night Shyamalan’s GLASS is Coming Thursday, Here’s a Motion Poster Featuring The Beast

A new motion poster for M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass was shared today featuring James McAvoy’s The beast and it came with the news that a new trailer is coming on Thursday! So, we have something cool to look forward to seeing soon!

I assume we’ll see new motion posters released for Bruce Willis‘s David Dunn and Samuel L. Jackson‘s Mr. Glass released over the next couple of days leading up to the release of the trailer. The film also stars Anya Taylor Joy as Casey, Sarah Paulson as Doctor Ellie Staple who plays a vital role in the story as she is treating the main characters in a mental institute.

Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

During a previous interview, the director opened up a little bit about the film's story and explains that there's a philosophical conflict at the heart of the film that will set it apart from Unbreakable and Glass.

"I think there’s definitely a philosophical conflict at the center of the movie which is, you know, are they are they deluded to think these things? Or is that belief in oneself ultimately something that truly makes them something more?

"That kind of belief is a tenuous thing for people. Even if we can do extraordinary things, is it something that we’re interpreting when we do that or are some people really special or not? The movie’s really about doubt versus belief and so every scene has that weight to it and that struggle is there."

He went on to say that the film is a character-driven story that was inspired by the classic film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

"It’s a contained, character-driven thriller that happens to be about this subject. There’s very little CGI and it’s not about the spectacle. It’s really about the characters. One of my favorite films is One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and there’s a lot of that in this in this movie."

Glass will be released on January 18th, 2019. I can’t wait to see what this next trailer shows us! I’m so excited for this movie!

It’s Hiccup’s Destiny To Find The Home of Dragons in New Clip From HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD

We’ve got a wonderful new clip to share with you for DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. In it, we see Hiccup’s dad, Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler), telling his baby son that it’s his destiny to find the hidden home of the dragons and bring the two worlds of dragon and humans together. I’ve also included a couple new photos for you to check out above and below the clip. Here’s the synopsis for the final chapter of the How To Train Your Dragon story:

“What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic trilogy spanning their lives. In this next chapter, Hiccup and Toothless will finally discover their true destinies: the village chief as ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, and the dragon as leader of his own kind. As both ascend, the darkest threat they’ve yet faced—as well as the appearance of a female Night Fury—will test the bonds of their relationship like never before.”

Dean DeBlois returns to direct the film, which will feature the return of the excellent cast that includes Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Cate Blanchett, Kit Harington, Craig Ferguson, and F. Murray Abraham.

3 Filler Episodes in Animated Series That Are Actually Fun to Watch

Filler episodes in animated TV shows normally suck. Depending on the show and length of the filler, it can even kill interest (I’m looking at you Key of the Starry Sky arc in Fairy Tail!) in the show. Of course, the worst offenders of including filler are anime shows so that the manga has plenty of time to put out content for the anime to adapt. There are some shows that take filler episodes to really have fun. I’d like to share three filler episodes that were done extremely well and are actually a blast to watch. What are some of your favorite filler?

“The Feud!” – Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 7, Episode 4

Voltron has a couple of decent filler episodes, but “The Feud!” takes the cake in my book. It’s nothing but good fun and the writers know it. The Paladins end up on a high-stakes game show facing off against caricatures of their foes from across the show. The whole time I watched it, I had a decent laugh and more importantly, I didn’t want to skip it. There are parts that are predictable, and in the end, you can skip the episode as it has no bearing on the actual story. However, to watch some of the commercials they made is something that rewarded me as a fan for watching the last six seasons. Little jokes that made me feel like the writers were in tune with fans.

“Special Request: Watch out for the guy you like!” – Fairy Tail Episode 50

Yes, a filler arc has all but killed my interest in watching Fairy Tail, but that was well after I saw this gem. In fact, outside of the horrifically dumb Key of the Starry Sky arc, Fairy Tail does really well with its filler episodes. They didn’t have long arcs like many anime, but rather most fillers were one-off episodes with the occasional 3-5-episode story. Episode 50 though is the best in my opinion. It all stems from Juvia’s love for Gray, but the love potion she buys to “persuade” Gray spreads across the Guild. What’s more is that instead of everyone falling in love with others, it causes the guild to create rivals amongst one another. Cana and Makarov end up in a drinking contest, Gray is jealous that Happy can fly, and best of all, Erza declares a pillar to be her rival. Once again, the episode doesn’t take itself seriously. In addition to this storyline though, there’s a treat for NaLu fans, but it’s not why this episode is so great. It’s just a cherry on top.

“The Ember Island Players” Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 3, Episode 17

Avatar: The Last Airbender is an amazing show and I always recommend it to friends. Of course, one of the best episodes happens to be a filler. The episode features Team Avatar as they’re preparing to defeat Fire Lord Ozai when they decide to take a day to relax and regroup. They decide to go see a play that is the story of the show up until the third season. It’s a great way for the audience and writers to poke fun at some of the quirks about the show. For example, Toph was originally going to be a boy, but the writers convinced the creators to make Toph a girl. The Toph in the play though, is a big man that one might expect from Toph’s personality, and I’m sure is a nod to this change. It even pokes fun at how ambiguously a character disappeared from the show. This episode may be filler, but it’s the best filler.

A Woman Finds Guidance From a Ghost in Wacky Trailer For CLARA’S GHOST

The first trailer has been released for an interesting looking supernatural film called Clara’s Ghost. The movie has a very strange tone that lies somewhere between comedy and madness. There were mixed reactions to this film at Sundance last year, but if you like what you see in this trailer, you might actually enjoy this movie. Here’s the synopsis:

Set over the course of a single evening in the Reynolds family home in suburban Connecticut, Clara's Ghost tells the story of Clara Reynolds who, fed up with constant ribbing from her self-absorbed showbiz family, finds solace in and guidance from the supernatural force she believes is haunting her.

The movie stars Abby Elliott, Bridey Elliott, Chris Elliott, Isidora Goreshter, Haley Joel Osment, and Paula Niedert Elliott.

Clara’s Ghost will be released on December 6, 2018.

Trailer and Release Date For VOLTRON: LEGENDARY DEFENDER Season 8

Season 7 of Voltron: Legendary Defenders came to Netflix on August 10, 2018. Now, it’s time to suit up for the eighth and final season. December 14, 2018. That is the date that this show will end. Season 8 will have 13 episodes total and will feature the Paladins finally putting an end to Honerva/Haggar.

After saving the Earth, the Paladins embark to prevent Honerva from setting into motion her deadliest plan yet. It’s a race against the clock as the Voltron Coalition gathers from the corners of the galaxy to defend the universe once and for all.

In addition to the release date and description though, fans have been treated with this teaser and ComicBook has a couple of special images. The teaser doesn’t show anything new, but it’s enough to get fans excited. The images on the other hand show Honerva in a new suit similar to the Altean we saw at the end of season 7 as well as the Paladins in some awesome looking coats for the Galaxy Garrison. I’ll be tuning in in about two months to finish the series, will you?
