The director of Kick-Ass 2 and Truth or Dare, Jeff Wadlow, has been hired to direct the feature film adaptation of the classic ABC TV series Fantasy Island. The project is set up at Blumhouse and Sony Pictures and Wadlow is writing script with his Truth or Dare co-writers Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs.
I have vauge memories of watching Fantasy Island and what I do remember are all the cheesy aspects of the series like . but, the series actually dealt with darker themes and played with teh supernatural as as visitors come to the island to live out their fantasy wishes. The island was overseen by the mysterious Mr. Roarke (Ricardo Montalban) and Hervé Villechaize’s Tattoo and guests could request any fantasy on the resort island. But, those fantasies rarely turned out as expected as the visitors found themselves facing challenges that tested their character.
Wadlow hasn't really made a great film. The last movie he made was Truth or Dare with Blumhouse, but that movie was all kinds of terrible. Hopefully, Fantasy Island turns out to be a better movie.
There's a great concept here to play with, hopefully sometihing good comes out of it.
In recent years, Jason David Frank has really been embracing his role as the most iconic Power Ranger. He’s been part of a lot of fan videos and reprised his role for the Shattered Grid trailer. It looks like he’s pushing again for a Green Ranger series now. This comes with him helping on Soul of the Dragon which is a Green Ranger solo book. Frank has said that one of his big worries about the series would be having to fit into spandex again. Frank was asked at Comic-Con about the series by CB, and he gave this answer:
Do you think this will happen now that Hasbro owns Power Rangers?Do you want a Green Ranger series?
Rosario Dawson indicated earlier this year she was looking to move on from appearing in Marvel's Netflix shows, and it's looking like she stayed true to her word. Jeph Loeb confirmed Dawson's Claire Temple won't be along for the ride in Iron Fist Season 2 (via CBR), but said that doesn't mean she'll be gone forever:
“Claire won’t be in there, but our relationship with Rosario [Dawson] is awesome and we love her, she loves us and — when the story lends itself into that place and hopefully she’s available — we go down that road,” Loeb explained. “Believe me, there isn’t any showrunner who hasn’t come in and said, ‘So where are we with Rosario?’ And we go, ‘Well, let’s tell the story and figure it all out.'
I'm glad to hear Marvel is finally giving Dawson a break. Don't get me wrong, I love her character, but there comes a point where you gotta wonder why this non super powered individual continues to pop up with no real rhyme or reason. I'm hoping that overall Marvel starts to shy away from its gimmicky cameos unless there's a valid reason for that character to be in the story. Agree? Disagree? For those of you not familiar with the Aztec death whistle, I've got a video here that you have to watch from Gizmodo. It offers some extensive information on the death whistle that is absolutely fascinating! You'll also get to hear what the death whistle sounds like and it's such a chilling and blood-curdling sound that will make your skin crawl.
The whistles were found with beheaded skeleton that was unearthed in the 1990s. One of the whistles was in the shape of a skull and when a researcher blew into one of them, the horrifying sounds that emerged were described as "a shriek of death." It's awesomely dreadful! I want a whistle like this!
The true purpose of these whistles have baffled researchers, but the popular theory is that they were used to terrify their enemies in battle. Jaime Arredondo, an art historian and professor of Mesoamerican and Latino studies at New York University said:
"You can imagine the frightening sound if you had 200 or 300 or 5,000 warriors blowing these instruments. That would be extremely intimidating."
Anyway, watch the video below and let us know what you think about the Aztec death whistle!
I was so happy with the first trailer that was released for Shazam! The movie looks like it's going to be a blast and I'm more excited about seeing that than I am Aquaman. Today, we have a fantastically fun fan-made video that gives Shazam a 1970s retro story. The video uses footage from Shazam (1974), Wonder Woman (1975), and Dr. Cyclops (1940) and its all cut together to the audio of the recent Shazam! trailer. Enjoy!
Disney has unveiled our first look at their latest Disneyland adventure attraction movie, Jungle Cruise. The video is a brief but fun announcement from co-stars Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson who are in costume and excited for everyone to see the film. There’s some playful banter all throughout the video and by the end, both actors are smiling and laughing.
Jungle Cruise will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra with a script from a team consisting of Glenn Ficarra, Michael Green, and John Requa. Paul Giamatti, Jesse Plemons, Edgar Ramirez, and Jack Whitehall are all set to join Blunt and Johnson in the film. There is no release date yet. Are you excited for Jungle Cruise?
Fox Kids aired Mighty MorphinPower Rangers on August 28, 1993. It’s been going for 25 years now, and to commemorate the occasion, they’re making a special episode of Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel for fans. Many fans have been expecting a lot of previous Rangers to appear and now we have the first three for the list. Tommy Oliver who is played by Jason David Frank, Kat Hillard who is played by Catherine Sutherland, and Wes Collins played by Jason Faunt will be appearing in the episode. I was not shocked to learn that Frank was in the episode as he has been in pretty much everything related to Power Rangers for the last several years. It’ll be nice to see Sutherland and Faunt back in action though. If you forgot, Kat Hillard was the second Pink Ranger in Mighty Morphin who then went through Zeo and Turbo before giving the power to Cassie. Wes is the Red Time Force Ranger. I imagine we’ll be hearing about a lot more returning Rangers in the weeks to come, but who do you hope shows up?
To make the episode even more special, Nickelodeon will be airing it at 8 PM on August 28. Exactly 25 laters, to the day. I am excited for this episode!
Three weeks ago Shane Black's The Predator went out for some reshoots, and now, news is rolling out that reshoots are happening yet again! Is the film in trouble? Is this a response to people's reaction to the trailer?! IS THIS MOVIE GOING TO BOMB?!
The answer to all of those is, probably not. Flickering Myth reports the reshoots are only lasting about two days, which means they're probably just shooting some small scenes or maybe even a post-credits sequence. No need to worry every time you see reshoots in a headline. The film is still on track for its release on September 14, are you excited?!
The ridiculous Sharknado franchise is finally coming to an end with The Last Sharknado: It's About Time. With the film being released on Syfy next month, they have decided to release a series of posters that highlight the characters of the franchise which includes Fin (Ian Ziering), April (Tara Reid), Nova (Cassie Scerbo), and Skye (Vivica A. Fox).
When talking about the movie at Comic-Con, producer David Latt made this hilarious statement:
"[The Last Sharknado: It's About Time] is just a fun ride. And you're not going to know what hits you, because you're not going to understand any of it."
So, the fans of the franchise should love it. Here's the synopsis for the film:
Our hero Fin (Ian Ziering) has battled sharks all over the globe, but in this last installment he will tackle the final shark-tier — time travel. In the ending moments of SHARKNADO 5: GLOBAL SWARMING, Fin was seen wandering alone on Earth after it was destroyed. Now he must travel back in time to stop the Sharknado that started it all. Will Fin and the gang be able to set everything right and save the world once and for all? A production of The Asylum, SHARKNADO 6 is directed by Anthony C. Ferrante, based on an original screenplay by Scotty Mullen.
The Last Sharknado: It's About Time will debut on Sunday, August 19th, at 8/7c on Syfy. Check out the posters below.
As it turns out, Battlefield V's Grand Operations mode will be playable at launch after all. EA received tremendous backlash last week when the company said on June 9 that the multi-day mode would be delayed and will be available shortly after launch. However, EA revealed now that plans have changed since June and Grand Operations will be available from day 1.
Players were furious upon finding out the delay last week. However, EA already announced this last June, which probably got lost in all the E3 related content that week. Nonetheless, EA updated their post last Friday, which confirmed Grand Operations will be present at launch.
"A previous version of this article stated that Battlefield V Grand Operations would be available shortly after launch, based on development plans as of June 9, the date the story published," EA said in their update. "The article has been updated to reflect that Grand Operations will be playable at launch as part of Tides of War."
Of course, EA did not explain why their development plans changed. Was it because of the backlash? We will never know. Regarding the mention of Tides of War, it is EA's branded name for the post-launch content that will follow the game's release. Each update will bring focus to a specific era in World War 2 and will feature a plethora of new weapons, vehicles, missions, and whatnot.
Battlefield V is set to launch on October 19th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC with early access available through subscription services, pre-orders, and so on.
