Lucasfilm Was Reportedly Developing a STAR WARS Film That Focused on Mos Eisley

There's probably a lot going on at Lucasfilm that we don't know about. We only hear about the stuff that's officially announced or leaks out, but I bet there are a lot of other projects that we've never heard about. One of those rumored projects has come to light thanks to Making Star Wars

This other Star Wars film would have been another A Star Wars Story chapter and it would have focused on the large spaceport on the planet Tatooine, Mos Eisley, which is where "you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy." The report says:

"After speaking to a few more Pinewood sources, it sounds like there was going to be a movie or a premise along the lines of Mos Eisley Spaceport: A Star Wars Story (not an official title). Crew members of the previous Star Wars film said they believed the other movie was about the spaceport Luke Skywalker goes into the original film. In other words, my sources are saying this movie we never even heard about was canned or postponed and it does not mean the Obi-Wan Kenobi and Boba Fett films are doomed."

You know what? A Mos Eisley film would have been really cool! That's the kind of movie that I could see being a western genre style film. Maybe the idea got wrapped up into the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie that's said to be in development. After all, that movie will take place on Tatooine as well.

I just like the idea of a Mos Eisley western with a community filled with villains and scum from all across the galaxy. There's a lot to play with there. It's a shame that the idea isn't going anywhere. The site went on to clarify:

"To make it extra clear, it sounds like studio space was canceled, people panicked, assumed it meant bad things for the Kenobi and Fett films but it was actually a movie fans never heard of based around Mos Eisley Spaceport that was either canceled or postponed for now. There are sources at Pinewood who thought they were going to be working on a film of exactly that premise and said film was not Kenobi or Boba Fett."

If this is true, I hope that Lucasfilm picks up the pieces of this Mos Eisley film and runs with it one day. What do you think about the possibility of seeing a Mos Eisley film? Would you be up for that? Are there any story ideas that you'd like to see explored in a Mos Eisley movie?

The Futuristic Taco Bell From DEMOLITION MAN is Coming To San Diego Comic-Con

Remember how in Sylvester Stallone and Sandra Bullock's Demolition Man, Taco Bell was the only restaurant in the future because it was the only one to survive the franchise wars? Well, there's going to be a Demolition Man Taco Bell pop up restaurant in San Diego during Comic-Con for the film's 25th anniversary and it will come complete with Nacho Fries! If you're going to Comic-Con this should be a fun little experience, but if there's a long ass line to get Taco Bell food, you can forget it!

Heres the full press release that was sent out with all of the information:

After making the biggest debut in Taco Bell history in January, the hugely popular Nacho Fries are back for a summer sequel, returning to menus July 12. To celebrate their return, Taco Bell will honor the 25th Anniversary of Warner Bros. Pictures’ action sci-fi film Demolition Man, and its prediction of a utopian future where “all restaurants are Taco Bell,” with a re-creation of the iconic restaurant from the movie.
“When you create a fake trailer for a fake movie for a real product that surpasses all expectations of products (and movie trailers), it seems inevitable that you have to create a sequel,” said Marisa Thalberg, Chief Brand Officer of Taco Bell Corp. “And what better way to tease this sequel, than pay homage to a real movie’s 25th anniversary - one that had a very compelling view of a fictional future?”
Demolition Man, a 1993 Warner Bros. Pictures’ cult-classic in its own right, gained fame for its utopian predictions of 2032 - where Taco Bell was the only restaurant to survive the Franchise Wars. But since the film’s release 25 years ago - one question remains unanswered: how?
Leading up to the July 12 return of Nacho Fries, answers will be revealed with exciting creative in the sequel to Web of Fries I. Culminating with a Demolition Man pop-up and a futuristic and upscale Taco Bell dining experience July 19 - 21 in San Diego just outside the holy-grail of science fiction. More details and sneak peeks into the experience to follow.
To prepare for Web of Fries II and the utopian future, fans are encouraged to follow along using the hashtag #NachoFries. Taco Bell is also offering fans the chance to watch the 1993 Demolition Man movie for free via FandangoNOW. From now until June 28, fans can catch up on the delicious future that the film predicted. FandangoNOW offers 70,000 new release and catalog movies, next-day TV shows, and an extensive library of 4K and HDR titles, to buy or rent -- no subscription required.
Nacho Fries will be available for a limited time a la carte for $1.29 and also served Supreme for $2.49 or BellGrande for $3.49, topped with classic Taco Bell add-ons including beef, nacho cheese sauce, tomatoes and sour cream and also in a $5 box with Nacho Fries, a Doritos® Locos Taco, a Beefy 5-Layer Burrito and Medium Drink.

You can watch the clip below to remind you of how Demolition Man envisioned the future of Taco Bell.

Jim Lee, chief creative officer and publisher at DC Entertainment said:

"DC Universe is so much more than a streaming service. Nothing this robust has ever been offered to fans before.”

Now, here are the details on the shows:

Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.

Titans is coming to the DC Universe service in late 2018.

Swamp Thing follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.

Swamp Thing is coming to the DC Universe service in 2019.

Doom Patrol is a reimagining of one of DC’s strangest group of outcasts: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman and Crazy Jane. Led by the mysterious Dr. Niles Caulder they're called into action by the ultimate hero for the digital age, Cyborg. Banding together these rejects find themselves on a mission that will take them to the weirdest and most unexpected corners of the DC universe.

Doom Patrol is coming to the DC Universe service in 2019.

Harley Quinn follows Harley’s adventures after she breaks up with the Joker and strikes out on her own in this new, adult animated comedy. With the help of Poison Ivy and a ragtag crew of DC castoffs, Harley tries to earn a seat at the biggest table in villainy: the Legion of the Doom.

Harley Quinn is coming to the DC Universe in 2019.

Young Justice: Outsiders features the return of the fan favorite animated series with a huge cast of DC's most iconic young superheroes - plus brand-new characters, many of whom are just discovering their unique meta-powers and special abilities. Set against the backdrop of a rich, deep world that touches all corners of the DC universe, the season focuses on meta–trafficking, and an intergalactic arms race for control of these super–powered youths.

Young Justice: Outsiders will be coming to the DC UNiverse service in 2019.

So, 2019 is going to be a big year for the DC Universe streaming service. There's going to be a lot of great content coming to it beyond these shows. But, this is a great start and I actually think I'm going to sign up for the service to watch these shows. If they end up being crap, I can always cancel my subscription. But, if they're good, I'll stick around for more!

Are you excited about these upcoming DC shows?

New Character Designs For AVENGERS 4 and CAPTAIN MARVEL Feature Hawkeye, Hulk, Nick Fury, and More

A few weeks ago some promo art for Avengers 4 surfaced giving us our first look at the remaining Avengers team members which consists of Thor, Captain Marvel, Nebula, Iron Man, Rocket Raccoon, Black Widow, Hulk, Captain America, Hawkeye, War Machine, and Ant-Man.

Now some new character designs have surfaced showing us individual designs for several of these heroes including Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, War Machine, Hulk, Thanos, Rocket Raccoon, and Nebula. The art was posted on Twitter and they are said to be legit.

As you'll see, the images and costume designs do match up with the previously released promo art. I also included some art from the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, which shows off more Captain Marvel along with a younger version of Nick Fury.

There are still so many questions about Avengers 4. We all have our theories on what we think will happen, which is fun to talk about and discuss. But, I think Marvel is going to pull off something completely unexpected. I can't wait to see what they do with this movie that will change the face of the MCU forever.

Bioware Producer Share His Views On How Release Timing Had A Negative Impact On MASS EFFECT ANDROMEDA

We all know that Bioware’s Mass Effect: Andromeda was a disappointment as the game received negative feedback, a stark contrast with previous entries in the franchise. However, one of Bioware’s producer shares his insight as he believes that the timing of the game’s release also contributed to Andromeda’s abysmal review scores.

Posting his opinion on Twitter, Executive Producer Mark Darrah believes that Andromeda was released on a crowded schedule and was consequently overshadowed by other big titles. During Andromeda’s release, several other games such as Nier: Automata, Nioh, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild were also released weeks before Andromeda. Darrah admitted that each of those games did something better than Andromeda, which he believed to be a “flawed game.”

For producer Darrah, Andromeda’s “pretty decent” elements were unfairly compared to those other games as players and critics just came out fresh from playing the mentioned titles. Of course, Darrah admits that releasing Andromeda at a different time would not change the review scored drastically as he admits that Andromeda “is a deeply flawed game. Especially at launch.” Furthermore, Darrah thinks that the scores would have been slightly better if the game was released a little further away from other successful titles.

“As a result [of the crowded review environment], even systems that are pretty decent get scrutinized against superiorly implemented ones. Does launching in a different window turn 72% into 90? Certainly not. 72 into 77/78? Maybe,” Darrah wrote on Twitter.

Given Anthem’s poor sales due to its bad reputation, Bioware reportedly put the entire franchise on hold. As of now, the developer is focused on bringing Anthem to the best of their ability as the game will focus on unique storytelling and will learn from the mistakes made in Andromeda. Hopefully, Bioware will be able to redeem themselves with their upcoming IPs, but looking at how things are going for the studio, regaining their reputation will not be a walk in the park.

The first trailer for Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement's new series Wellington Paranormal has arrived and it looks like it's going to be great! This is the spinoff of the 2014 film What We Do in the Shadows, and there's no doubt that fans of that film are going to love what they see in this spinoff as it's going to be filled with all kinds of funny and crazy supernatural hijinks.

The new mockumentary series follows officers Minogue and O’Leary (Mike Minogue and Karen O’Leary, reprising their parts from the movie) as a pair of paranormal cops focused not just on vampires this time. New Zealand’s capital is a hotbed of supernatural activity, so Officers Minogue and O’Leary take to the streets to investigate all manner of paranormal phenomena including ghosts, demonic possession and werewolves. Maaka Pohatu also stars as Sgt. Ruawai Maaka.

Clement and Waititi are expected to reprise their roles as Vladislav and Viago in the series as well. So that's something to look forward to!

Wellington Paranormal will debut on TVNZ (Television New Zealand) on July 11th. There's no word on when or where we'll get to watch it in the U.S. yet.

Josh Brolin and Danny McBride Go Hunting in Fun Trailer THE LEGACY OF THE WHITETAIL DEER HUNTER

Netflix has released the first trailer for a new comedy called The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter which stars Josh Brolin and Danny McBride. Seeing this trailer pop up was a pleasant surprise because the movie wasn't on my radar and it looks like it could be fun.

Brolin has had a great year of movies with films like Avengers: Infinity WarDeadpool 2, and the upcoming Sicario: Day of the Soldado. Now there's this and it seems like the kind of film that Brolin would enjoy being a part of. The movie comes from director Jody Hill (Eastbound & Down, Vice Principals) and this is the synopsis:

Buck Ferguson (Josh Brolin), famous for hunting whitetail deer, plans a special episode of his hunting show around a bonding weekend with his estranged son, Jaden (Montana Jordan). With trusted – but hapless – cameraman and friend Don (Danny McBride) in tow, Buck sets out for what soon becomes an unexpectedly epic adventure of father-son reconnection in the great outdoors.

The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter hits Netflix on July 6th.

Ron Howard Explains What Lucasfilm is Up To in Regards to Future STAR WARS Movies

As you know, there has been a lot of talk regarding the future of the Star Wars franchise at Lucasfilm. There were rumors that Lucasfilm was going to put their A Star Wars Story films on hold, which they ultimately ended up denying. Then there was a report that they would stick to working with seasoned directors that know what they are doing to avoid production problems.

Lucasfilm is obviously making some adjustments, but I don't think it's as drastic as the rumors and speculation make it out to be. TMZ recently caught up with Solo director Ron Howard and asked him about the rumors online, and Howard offered some insight into what is currently going on at Lucasfilm. The filmmaker said:

"I don’t think that’s entirely accurate. I think that was reported, but I don’t think that’s exactly right. Everyone at Lucasfilm and Disney really cares about the fans. I think it’s an ongoing process of discovering what it can be, and what it can all add up to. So it’s a process, and I like the fact, personally, that they take some chances, take some risks, and see how people respond to it."

I know a lot of fans may not like the chances and risks that Lucasfilm has been taking with the franchise, but I have. I've enjoyed the Star Wars films that have been released so far. My favorite's being the A Star Wars Story films. For me, those have captured the spirit of Star Wars more than the saga films have, but I still like what I've seen from the new saga films.

Lucasfilm is only four films in so far and they are learning what works and what doesn't. One box office disappointment and a bunch of angry fans aren't going to bring the franchise crashing down. When talking about his own film, Howard said:

"This movie did really well. This movie did really well for me. I had a great experience, exit polls were great, and the reaction was terrific among fans. And… so… you know… the economic side, you know… was not what everyone was looking for."

I like that Howard has such a positive attitude and outlook on things. It seems like he's always looking for the good in what comes his way. I hope that he comes back to make another Star Wars movie one day because Solo was awesome!

What are your thoughts on what Howard had to say about Lucasfilm's current state?

Disney Gets Green Light From DOJ on Acquiring Fox with an Expected Catch

The Department of Justice has officially given the greenlight for Disney to acquire Fox. There is one catch, but many saw it coming and are expecting it to not pose any problems. The caveat is that Disney must “carve out Fox’s regional sports networks over ESPN-related monopoly concerns.” Assistant Attorney General of the DOJ’s Antitrust Division, Makan Delrahim, said this:

American consumers have benefitted from head-to-head competition between Disney and Fox’s cable sports programming that ultimately has prevented cable television subscription prices from rising even higher. Today’s settlement will ensure that sports programming competition is preserved in the local markets where Disney and Fox compete for cable and satellite distribution.

This is a major hurdle that Disney has passed that will definitely give them the upper hand against Comcast. Technically, Comcast is still in the game and Disney will have more regulatory agencies weighing in on the matter, but it’s becoming more and more likely that Disney will come out victorious in the not too distant future. Before this decision was announced, they already stated that it would divest the RSNs. Your move Comcast.
