The E3 Trailer For CONTROL Is Mind Blowing

download (23).jpeg

The age of trying to visually conceptualize a confusing, yet fascinating mix of activity has been continuing to adapt movies and games alike. Seeing large, physical objects change into different shapes or simply fold when it isn't supposed to be physically possible too is just complicated to grasp. Perhaps it is the breaking of the laws of physics that captures our interest in this case.

Taking the advantage of this fascination is 505 Games with their next game, Control. After watching the E3 Announcement trailer, it is obvious that they are going for an aw-inspiring experience with mind blowing physics that makes things change with plenty of action to go along with it. The glimpse of the story seems like the usual escape from those using science in morally questionable ways, but that doesn't hinder the interest. Check it out:

I love seeing how craze everything looks in this game. The mixture of telekinesis and gun play is sure to bring some unique gameplay mechanics. Not to mention the endless amounts of strategy options that this could bring. The part of the trailer that caught my attention was both subtle and the part that I found mind blowing. She used telekinesis to move the guns shape, which indicates to me that we will be able to use the gun itself in different ways with this power as well.

What do you think of the announcement trailer for Control and what the game will have in store for us?

Lucifer fans can breathe a sigh of relief as their prayers have been answered. After the series was canceled by FOX, Netflix has swooped in to save the show! Lucifer is officially returning for Season 4!

Once the news was official, series co-showrunner Joe Henderson said:

This is not the first Warner Bros. TV show that Netflix has saved. The streaming service also picked up Longmire after it was canceled and they are currently developing the upcoming WBTV Sabrina the Teenage Witch series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

I'm so happy that Lucifer will get at least one more season. Now fans won't be left with that crazy cliffhanger, the story will continue! It's pretty crazy that we live in a time where the fans can help play a part in saving a canceled show. I wish Netflix was around when Firefly was canceled!

Here are a bunch of excited thank you tweets from the show's cast and crew:

Chris Hardwick Removed From Nerdist Website After Abuse Allegations From Ex-Girlfriend Surface

chris-hardwick-removed-from-nerdist-website-after-abuse-allegations-from-ex-girlfriend-social.jpg

It looks like the #MeToo movement has hit Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick. His ex-girlfriend Chloe Dykstra recently posted an article detailing serious abuse allegations and the name of the former Nerdist CEO has been completely removed from the Nerdist site. This is just one of many consequences that is sure to follow.

After the allegations came to light Legendary, the owner of Nerdist, made the following statement:

"Chris Hardwick had no operational involvement with Nerdist for the two years preceding the expiration of his contract in December 2017. He no longer has any affiliation with Legendary Digital Networks. The company has removed all reference to Mr. Hardwick even as the original Founder of Nerdist pending further investigation."

Nerdist offered their own statement on the matter, saying:

"Like you, we were shocked to read the news this morning. Nerdist prides itself on being an inclusive company made up of a positive, diverse community of people who come together to share and discuss the things we love. That type of behavior is contrary to everything we stand for and believe in, and we absolutely don’t tolerate discrimination, harassment, and other forms of abuse."

I'm sure you're all wondering what it is that Hardwick is accused of doing. Well, Dykstra dated Hardwick from 2012 until 2014. She never named her ex in the article, but she did say that he "grew from a mildly successful podcaster to a powerhouse CEO of his own company". It's since been revealed that she was talking about Hardwick.

Dykstra said that her ex-boyfriend was emotionally abusive. She also said that she was forced into having sex with him whenever he wanted and that there was regular sexual abuse as she was pressured into it against her will. She says she would give in to his demands out of fear of upsetting him or losing him.

She explained that he laid down rules for her social interactions, isolating her from her friends and other sources of support. She also said that she became anorexic and had an ectopic pregnancy. Apparently, not long after surgery, she said that he asked the doctor, "When do you think I can have sex with her again." She writes, "I was expected to be ready for him when he came home from work" and went on to say:

"I lost myself, both mentally and physically. I lost 15 lbs within weeks, started pulling out my hair (and had to get extensions regularly to hide it). I generally stopped speaking unless spoken to while with him, drifting through life like a ghost. I would try to sleep in as late as possible so my days were shorter. I stopped listening to music entirely. I ceased to be. I was an ex-person."

Dykstra said she left Hardwick after three years, and she says that after the breakup he made calls to companies "to get me fired by threatening to never work with them," and that he and a female colleague "steamrolled my career." She went on to say she was "blacklisted from my industry at age 25." In regards to the female colleague that turned against her, she said:

"The woman actively made it her mission to destroy my friendships. And she did, because by the time they’d realized she was an unreliable source the damage had already been done."

Wow! If this is true, that sucks. I would have never thought that Hardwick would be like this. But, Dykstra claimed in her piece that her "nightmare" ex was a "prince" whenever the cameras were on and people were watching them together.

Dykstra went on to say that she thought about killing herself repeatedly after everything she had gone through, and that while she has her life back on the right path, she wrote the essay in the hope of finding closure. She realizes that some people might think she is making this stuff up, but she goes on to say that she has proof.

"A sincere and heartfelt apology could have made my last four years a hell of a lot easier. The person I used to date would try to sue me due to pride- I would not recommend it. I have audio/video that will support and prove many of the things I’ve stated in this post. I’ve chosen not to include it for your sake, in the hopes that the person you’ve become will do the right thing."

It sounds like this poor woman went through a hellish situation. With allegations like this coming to light during a sensitive time in the entertainment industry that isn't tolerating this kind of behavior, if this turns out to be true, Hardwick's career could definitely be in jeopardy.

It's sad to hear stories like this about people that your a fan of, but if this actually turns out to be true, you can't really defend him. That kind of behavior isn't defendable. Hardwick has yet to make a statement on the matter.

Zach Galifianakis Interviews Jerry Seinfeld And Cardi B In New BETWEEN TWO FERNS

Zach Galifianakis is back with another Between Two Ferns, and he's got a comedy legend with him this time around. We're talking about Cardi B, of course, because she's appearing everywhere these days. Seriously if there was a poster child for most successful reality TV star it would be a close race between her and WWE wrestler The Miz. Anyway, Jerry Seinfeld is also along for the ride on this one, and I love the chemistry between he and Galifianakis in this bit. Also Seinfeld looks really good for 64! Check out the skit below:

VAMPYR Review: A Game Full Of Punishing Yet Fair Consequences

download (19).jpeg

Many games have come and gone that had a choice based system that controlled the stories outcome, but the developers at DONTNOD have created a game that brings this genre to a new level. The consequential choices in Vampyr are all tough positions that alter not only the story, but how difficult the overall game will be to complete.

Story

Taking place in 1918 London, vampire and doctor Jonathan Reid is faced with finding the source and cure for the Spanish Influenza that plagues the citizens. However, the truth continues to reveal that there is more going on than simply a Spanish Flu. With the creation of a cure just out of reach and having to face a struggle within against the thirst for blood, Dr. Reid must do everything he can to save the citizens of London!

The story itself is a gripping tale that is sure to hold the interest of players as they personally make the decisions that will save or kill the citizens. There are a couple sections that seemed like they were trying a little hard to grip at my emotions, but they aren't unnecessary story moments either.

Gameplay

When you start out the game you will be faced with a short amount of action before it slows to being the detective style game that the majority of it is. Given that you don't make so many bad decisions that multiple parts of the town becomes hostile.

Each district starts off in an above average or positive position. This meter is based on how many key citizens are sick, which can be healed by medicines you learn to make as you progress, and that includes how many our dead. Whether by your poor choices or your need to feed, too many dead citizens in one district and you will find it more dangerous to simply travel through the streets.

download (20).jpeg

When you aren't collecting information from people or completing side quests of note and item collection, you will be finding your way through the puzzling streets. These streets can hold home to enemies, whether it be vampire hunters, skals, or enemy vampires, as well as source items. You can search through various trash cans, boxes, and multiple other locations to find medicine items, tools, and occasionally money. These same items, and often better ones, can also be found inside any building by searching drawers, cabinets, and anything else the game let's you.

The combat in the game is a main aspect, even if it doesn't seem like it at first. Your level is determined by how much experience you have used in the skill tree through evolution. Experience is gained by completing quests, defeating big enemies (mini boss and boss), and draining a poor victim of their blood. Regular enemies don't provide much experience at all, so needless combat won't be well rewarded. Taking victims within your current mesmerization level (which increases only when you progress further in the story) will be the best way to get experience, it just has the highest cost as well. You get the most out of your victim by curing any medical issues that are inflicting them and unlocking as many hints about them as possible through discussion with them and anyone they are associated with. The hint unlock rule also applies to having more options when making story altering decisions, providing a second or third option on a difficult moment.

As mentioned before, there is a skill tree for you to use your gained experience on. The more experience used, regardless on what, the higher your level. The points can be reset at any time as well if you ever wish to completely rearrange what abilities or benefits you currently have set up so far. This proves to be helpful for anytime you are having trouble with the set up you have given yourself without knowing what lies ahead.

As for the combat, their system allows freedom of movement for multiple different attack styles. There are a large variety of styles based on which weapon you equipped, the stun weapon of choice, and the skills learned from the skill tree. It is well set up for any player to set themselves up with their own unique move set that fits them best.

Graphics and Sounds

Everything has a semi-realistic polish to it. While there is a level of obvious that this is a game, the majority of your surroundings and characters have a very aesthetically appealing art style. The characters and parts of the environment are a bit unnecessarily shiny, but nothing distracting or disruptive.

The sound effects matched well and the combat scenes weren't full of yelling from each attack. They did well balancing the amount of noise and volume with each clash. The music choice is well during also with a consistent somber atmosphere style that fit well with the dark, plague filled era.

Replayability

With the different choices players can make and their consequential impact on the world around them, along with fail able side quests and plenty of people to feed off of, there is tons of replayability here. Whether you want to try a pacifist or killer run, make better choices all around, or simply see what the different choices do when chosen, there is a lot of reasons to return to the streets of 1918 London once more.

What Could Be Better

The lock on system when in combat was difficult to change between different enemies. This may have been user error, but it seems like it could of been done more smoothly.

I also thought the way the player and victim walk when currently mesmerized was completely unrealistic and needs an update. Whether they have the two characters do a snake-like motion so that they aren't slowly turning like they together make one character in an obvious and unrealistic way, something needs to improve with those moments.

Final Verdict

Vampyr is a very well made game that is challenging, a lot of fun, and punishing. The moral decision aspect was done so well that even when I thought I was being a good guy with my choices I still got people killed. Even the detective side of the game was interesting as every character has their own story behind them. Easily held my interest from start to end.

This Cardboard Darth Vader Costume is Great if You’re On a Budget

Do you ever want to do an awesome Halloween/convention costume, but are too poor to afford anything that looks decent? If you’re in Japan, that problem may be fixed for you. Showa Note, a Japanese Company, is releasing a cardboard Darth Vader costume that looks shockingly good and eco-friendly. The costume will run for only 3,980 yen (approximately $36) so it won’t break the bank. Sadly, it doesn’t look like the costume will be available outside of Japan. Do you have a cardboard costume that you’re proud of?

New Material From Deceased Comic Mitch Hedberg Could Be Coming Soon

new-material-from-deceased-comic-mitch-hedberg-could-be-coming-soon-social.jpg

New material from comedian Mitch Hedberg could be on the way, and fans have his widow Lynn Shawcroft to thank for it. Shawcroft recently wrote a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter that detailed her disparity after Hedberg's death, and how she became a compulsive hoarder after he passed. As sad as that is, she noted there is a silver lining in the fact that she has a treasure trove of unreleased jokes, notes, audio recordings and footage that fans have never seen before:

Mitch was constantly jotting ideas onto paper. I have boxes and boxes of his notebooks, envelopes stuffed with hotel pads and scribbled-on napkins. I even found an airplane barf bag covered with notes. When he wasn’t writing, he was talking into a microcassette recorder, so I also have boxes of microtapes of him practicing and perfecting his material — material that’s never been heard. And then there’s the footage. Mitch and I shot four of his shows on 16mm. That’s enough for a brand-new concert film. And there’s other film Mitch shot himself, with his voiceover. Enough for a documentary. A documentary that he could narrate himself! I kept all the film and tapes and notes in three big iron safes in a cabin we had in the mountains. But about eight months ago, I took it all out of the safes and brought it back to L.A. I found an office in a production company and I’ve been digitizing everything ever since.”

I, for one, would love a documentary about Mitch Hedberg. His comedy album Mitch All Together played on repeat in my room when I was in high school, and I still throw it on from time to time because those jokes never seem to get old. For those not familiar with Hedberg, or just in need of a reminder of his hilariousness, check out this video below and let us know if you'd love to see new material from the comedian:

Geoff Johns Teases The Start of DC’s GREEN LANTERN CORPS Film, Which Hints at Possible Storyline

It must've been a crazy week for Geoff Johns! It was announced that he would be stepping down as DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer. He is no going to focus on this Mad Ghost Productions shingle, and is currently writing an producing DC's Green Lantern Corps movie.

We know that the two main characters in the film will be Hal Jordan and John Stewart, and Johns recently teased how the movie will start. If you're familiar with Johns' work on the comic book, you'll know what this tease means and where it might take the story. First off, Johns wrote on Facebook:

"Thanks for all the crazy support today as I take on my dream gig! I especially wanted to give a shout out to my colleagues and friends at DC -- our shared passion burns bright!"

Then came the tease:

"I've waited a LIFETIME to write this...
"FADE IN:
"ON a GREEN RING soaring through space..."

This is something that fans have seen in Johns' writing for his Green Lantern Corps comic. If this really is the first shot of the film, maybe it will tie into the story arc of where a seasoned Hal Jordan finds himself training the young hotshot rookie John Stewart. It's like a Green Lantern buddy cop story. CB suggests suggested that that the ring may be "in search of a replacement who will ultimately be the novice Green Lantern at the center of the film."

That's all certainly plausible and it wouldn't surprise me if that's the direction the story goes. I hope that's the direction they take it because that could be a really fun story to tell! There's also a lot of fun to be had with these two characters. What do you hope to see happen in the Green Lantern Corps movie?

Green Lantern Corps is said to have a 2020 release date.

Avalanche Revealed That JUST CAUSE 4 Won’t Have A Multiplayer Mode

Developer Avalanche Studios announced at E3 that the upcoming game, Just Cause 4, will not include an official multiplayer mode. However, this is not really a surprise as previous games in the series were exclusively single-player titles. Of course, this exempts unofficial yet recognized mods that added a multiplayer option in the last two games.

Speaking to PCGamesN, creative director Francesco Antoloni confirmed the news saying that, “Just Cause 4 will not feature multiplayer.”

The hype over the possibility of Just Cause 4 having a multiplayer mode began when Cameron “Trix” Foote, a lead developer of the Just Cause 2 Multiplayer mod, joined Avalanche back in 2016.

“I’ll be able to bring many of the things you know and love from JC2-MP into future Avalanche experiences while reaching heights that a mere mod couldn’t facilitate,” Foote said when he joined the developer.

Just Cause 4 is scheduled to release December 4 via Steam for $60. Were you hoping to have an official multiplayer mode for Just Cause 4? Hopefully, modders will step up just as they did in previous games.
