James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious, Aquaman) is teaming up with Amblin to develop a remake of the classic 1990 horror comedy Arachnophobia. The Frank Marshall-directed film, in all seriousness, gave me a fear of spiders for years! A fear I only recently got over a few years ago. Why? Because I lived in a place where I was constantly killing spiders! In the years I lived there, I went from freaking out over everytime I saw one, to badass spider destroyer with no fear.
The original film follows a species of South American killer spider that crosses the U.S. border into a small town in a coffin. The spider breeds and they end up spreading all over the town killing a ton of people! Jeff Daniels and John Goodman starred in the original, and they had to track down and kill the queen to stop the horrific spider madness.
I imagine that the story will be similar, but with a modern-day setting. According to Deadline, Wan will not direct. He will produce the film through his Atomic Monster production company. With Wan behind the movie, maybe this remake will scare the fear of spiders back into me!
Do you remember the first movie? What do you think of Wan producing a remake?
If you weren't aware, Kanye West and Rick and Morty's Justin Roiland have this weird bromance going on. It all started when the rapper declared the comedy series as his favorite show of all time, and somehow we've gotten to the point where Roiland is sending personalized birthday songs to Kanye for his birthday. It's weird, but I'll be honest I'm mostly jealous that Kanye got his own Rick and Morty birthday song and I didn't. Check it out below:
We have a new set photo from Titans that shows us what the Bat Signal looks like in the show. Between this photo, the appearance of Jason Todd, and the call sheet that was leaked, it appears that at least one episode will be pretty Gotham/Robin heavy. There’s no word on whether we’ll actually get to see the Caped Crusader (probably not), but it’s looking like we’ll get a decent look at his home city for at least one episode. How do you think Gotham will be used in Titans?
Titans does not have a release date, but it will premiere on DC Universe when the streaming platform is live.
I have been enjoying the Shattered Grid storyline a lot. Go Go Power Rangers #10 just came out recently and is the latest chapter in the story which will continue in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #28. However, we already have a preview for the following chapter, GGPR #11 and it looks like it will be just as intense as #10 was. We’ll get to see Kimberly on Kimberly action as the Pink Ranger fights the Ranger Slayer while the other Rangers are using the Dinozords to combat the ferocious (and totally awesome) Gravezord. Looks like we may learn more about the Ranger Slayer and Matt as well. Check out the preview below only if you’ve read #10!
In today’s Microsoft E3 press conference, developer Square Enix just announced Just Cause 4 confirming recent leaks that happened this week. The announcement trailer of the game showed protagonist Rico Rodriguez parachuting into a chaotic war zone.
In Just Cause 4, Rico Rodriguez once again takes players to an action-filled adventure as he battle against “The Black Hand,” the world’s most powerful private army located in the fictional South American Country called Solis. The game is once again developed by Avalanche Studios with Square Enix serving as the publisher. You can check out the “Welcome to Just Cause 4” video below, which details the new features upcoming in the game.
True to previous games, Just Cause 4 will also feature the iconic wing suit together with a parachute, and several vehicles such as helicopters, tanks, boats, and cars. These vehicles will be controllable in the game as players make their way to the massive open world. Furthermore, the trailer also showed the inclusion of weather in the game as Rico is seen flying through a massive cyclone. You can check out the gameplay trailer posted below, which is the same trailer unveiled at the event.
Just Cause 4 is slated to release on December 4 this year for the PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One.
Earlier today when it was announced that Geoff Johns was stepping down as DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer, it was also reported that he would be writing and producing the Green Lanter Corps movie.
Since then, I've learned about some additional details that have surfaced regarding the film. On the official website for Johns' newly launched Mad Ghost Productions banner, a brief synopsis was posted that confirms the two leads in the film.
"[One] of DC Comics’ greatest Super Hero universes, the film will feature Hal Jordan and John Stewart…"
So, the movie will focus on Hal Jordan and John Stewart, which is what I think most fans expected. However, some fan believed that newer characters Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz would be involved.
Then The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the movie will be based on Johns' lengthy Green Lantern run. This means that we can expect to see a number of other Corps members introduced as well. Maybe even a possible adaptation of the Sinestro Corps War?
We'll just have to wait and see how things shake out, but are you happy to hear that Johns is going to be developing this movie? What do you hope the story for the movie entails?
It's the 80th anniversary of Superman, and to celebrate the occasion, DC has released a great animated short that follows Superman through the years. It takes us from his first appearance on the cover of Action Comics #1 to the new Man Of Steel, Henry Cavill. Then there's a lot of cool stuff in between. It hits all of the main Superman events and even pays tribute to Christopher Reeve and Smallville. Of course, the whole thing is cut to John Williams' classic Superman score.
Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is officially set to star alongside Dwayne Johnson in his upcoming action comedy Red Notice. The film is an original concept from Rawson Marshall Thurber (Central Intelligence), who is also set to direct the film. The director wanted her so bad that he flew to London for less than 30 hours just to pitch Gadot in person for the role.
There's still no information on the plot of the film, but it is described as "a globe-trotting, action-comedy, heist thriller designed as a three-hander between Johnson, Gadot and another male star who’ll soon be set. Gadot plays a brilliant and mysterious figure in the art world."
Johnson and Gadot previously appeared together in the Fast and furious franchise. This is apparently going to be a huge film that is expected to do big business at the box office. Red Notice will begin shooting April 2019 in Europe and Universal Pictures will release the film on June 12, 2020.
"I can’t go to Yemen, I’m an analyst. I don’t interrogate people, I write reports."
I recently rewatched the film adaptation's of Tom Clancy's Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger with Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan. I love those films, but this new Jack Ryan series coming from Amazon Studios actually looks like it could be pretty awesome. I think John Krasinski is going to make an excellent version of Ryan and it looks like he's going to own the role.
Amazon released a great full trailer for the series today and it gives us a solid look at what we can expect from the story that it's going to tell. The series looks like it's going to be pretty intense!
Jack Ryan, an up-and-coming CIA analyst, is thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time. He soon uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.
The Amazon series was already renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere, which is set for August 31st.
A week ago, speculation began circulating in the gaming community when developer Capcom registered a Devil May Cry 5 domain name. As expected, the developer announced the new game during Microsoft’s E3 press conference with an announcement trailer.
Capcom claims that the game will serve as a direct sequel to the previous title in the franchise, Devil May Cry 4, which was released a decade ago back in 2008. The upcoming installment in the franchise will see the return of Nero, who has lost his arm from a previous incident, which was the source of most of his abilities. Now, Nero sports a new metal arm that is designed by Nico to “kick demon ass.”
The upcoming Devil May Cry game will have Hideaki Itsuno returning as the game’s director. The announcement trailer showed plenty of demon battles as Nero traverses the streets using some of the series’ notable weapons together with new gadgets such as a grappling hook fist. Of course, the trailer ended with the franchise’s hero, Dante, sporting a short beard and looking bad-ass in a motorcycle. This scene just shows that the game will be set in the canon Devil May Cry storyline.
Devil May Cry 5 is scheduled for a release on Spring of 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
