I've been a fan of Swamp Thing ever since I first saw that original 1982 movie! I thought that was the coolest and freakiest thing when I was a kid! I didn't get into the comic books until a little later, but I've been hoping that we would see another Swamp Thing movie one day, and I've been looking forward to that Justice League Dark film. But, until we find out what's going on with that film, I've got some pretty cool news for you!
DC Entertainment is developing a live-action Swamp Thing TV series that will stream on the upcoming DC-branded streaming service. Swamp Thing was created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, and this will be a one-hour drama series.
The story will follow "CDC researcher Abby Arcane, who returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. She develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland, only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all."
The series is being written and produced by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman. James Wan (Aquaman) is also an executive producer on the series, which is pretty cool. He'll help
The studio is looking to launch the series in 2019 and I can't wait to see how it turns out! The DC streaming service will also air series such as Titans, the Harley Quinn animated series and Young Justice: Outsiders.
Are you excited to hear that we are getting a live-action Swamp Thing series?
Isabela Moner just landed the title role in Paramount's live-action adaptation of the hit Nickelodeon animated series Dora the Explorer. You might recognize Moner as the young girl from Transformers: The Last Knight.
The film is said to follow Dora as a teenager accompanied by her best friend, the monkey Boots, and her cousin Diego on an adventure. The film will be directed by James Bobin (The Muppets, Alice Through the Looking Glass) from a script written by Nick Stoller (The Muppets) and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel (New Girl, My Name is Earl).
Brian Robbins, President of Paramount Players in a statement:
"We are thrilled to have found our Dora in Isabela. Dora has long been a celebrated, strong heroine in animated television, and like Dora, Isabela has an incredible spirit and is an advocate for positive values. With our partners at Nickelodeon, we look forward to continuing Dora’s story for generations to come.”
"I’m honored and excited to bring Dora to life. I grew up watching the show, and for me, especially as a Latina, Dora was an amazing role model – she is a strong, adventurous and fun-loving girl. I can’t wait to put on the backpack and begin her next adventure!"
Micahel Bay is producing the film and it's going to be really interesting to see what the creative team does in bring this character to life. It will be released on August 2, 2019. What do you think about Isabela Moner taking on the role of Dora?
For those that haven't been keeping up with the whackiness of Gotham, there's a new Joker in town...sort of. Cameron Monaghan is back and playing his character Jerome's twin brother Jeremiah who also just happens to be a deranged psychopath.
Check out the new version of "not Joker," below, and let us know if you think Gotham should just pull the trigger already if they're going to incorporate the Joker in the series:
Last month, the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) sent out warning letters to six companies stating that the “Warranty Void If Removed” stickers found on electronic devices, including game consoles, were in fact illegal. The stickers are a clear violation of a 1975 Act that states that a manufacturer cannot put warranty restrictions on a product over $5, which they offered warranty in the first place.
Now, the FTC is giving the alleged manufacturers 30 days to remove these labels on their future products. Failure to do so would result in the FTC filing legal action against the manufacturers. The companies involved are Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, HTC, Asus, and Hyundai.
Lois Greisman, the associate director of marketing for the FTC sent out the letters on April 9, giving the companies involved a chance to adjust their practices before the given deadline. FTC’s letter stated that:
“This letter places you on notice that violations of the Warranty and FTC Acts may result in legal action. FTC investigators have copied and preserved the online pages in question, and we plan to review your company’s written warranty and promotional materials after 30 days. You should review the Warranty and FTC Acts and if necessary, revise your practices to comply with the Acts’ requirements. By sending this letter, we do not waive the FTC’s right to take law enforcement action and seek appropriate injunctive and monetary remedies against [company name] based on past or future violations.”
This action by the FTC is good news for console owners who are obsessive cleaners and strives to maintain a system in pristine condition. Or maybe for those players who like to tinker around inside their console. It is just baffling to me why the FTC waited for such a long period of time before strictly implementing this regulation. What are your thoughts on the FTC’s love letter to console manufacturers?
John Boyega was recently talking to UK Finance about an app to help fight cancer, DreamLab, when he dropped a little hint about Star Wars: Episode IX. He said:
Could his longer hair signal a time jump between The Last Jedi and IX? It would definitely help in the ability to explain why Leia’s gone. It would also fit J.J. Abrams’ ability to borrow from the Original Trilogy. After all, there is a time jump between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. A time jump is not a bad idea, plus, we already have a comic that illustrates what happens right after The Last Jedi ends. The real question is, how long will Finn’s hair be?
I recommend reading the whole article as he talks about the opportunities Star Wars has given him as well as a bit more about the DreamLab app.
Star Wars: Episode IX has a current release date of December 20, 2019.

Most, if not all of us think of Venom’s tongue when we think of the classic Spider-Man villain/anti-hero. His tongue and monstrous teeth have become a defining characteristic of the symbiote and it’s awesome! Erik Larsen, the man who took over for Todd McFarlane on the Spider-Man comics, recently took to Facebook to explain how that tongue came to be. The short answer: he thought he saw it on some art that McFarlane made, but he was mistaken.
Venom will premiere in theaters October 5, 2018. Tom Hardy will play the titular Eddie Brock/Venom.
The untold(?) origin of Venom's tongue.
As you all know, Todd McFarlane was the first guy to draw Venom in the pages of the Amazing Spider-Man and I succeeded him on the title.
Years ago, Todd McFarlane drew a cover for a Spider-Man vs. Venom trade paperback which collected the Spider-Man vs. Venom stories that he had illustrated. On it, he drew Venom with his mouth open and his tongue visible.
I didn't buy the book because I had the individual comics already but my takeaway was that Todd was giving him a tongue now.
Determined to take it a step further, I gave Venom an even bigger, crazier tongue--not realizing that Todd didn't do anything special or unusual with his tongue at all--it was a perfectly ordinary, unremarkable tongue.
For years I'd been given credit for the tongue and I'd sheepishly confess that I got it from Todd from a TPB cover. Imagine my surprise when I actually saw Todd's cover, years later and saw that it looked nothing like I had remembered it! It turned out that I HAD given him that crazy tongue after all!
This new film, A Simple Favor, isn't what it seems to be. It interestingly comes off as a quirky kind of comedy, but I saw a full trailer for it at CinemaCon that offered a lot more detail on the story than this recently released teaser trailer does. I wish you saw the trailer that I did. It actually made the film look like a very intriguing and dark murder mystery revenge film. But, you'll just have to live with this teaser trailer for now.
The movie was directed by Paul Feig (Ghostbusters) and it stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, who plays a psychopath. The story "centers around Stephanie (Kendrick), a mommy vlogger who seeks to uncover the truth behind her best friend Emily's (Lively) sudden disappearance from their small town. Stephanie is joined by Emily's husband Sean (Henry Golding) in this stylish thriller filled with twists and betrayals, secrets and revelations, love and loyalty, murder and revenge."
This teaser trailer may seem a little weird, but the movie actually looks really good! It also stars Linda Cardellini, Rupert Friend, Eric Johnson, Jean Smart, Sarah Baker, and Andrew Rannells. The movie is set to be released on September 14th.
Rockstar Games just dropped the third trailer forRed Dead Redemption 2 today. The latest preview showcased a more in-depth look at the game and gave players an idea of what to expect when they take the role of Arthur Morgan this coming fall. Check out the trailer posted above.
Red Dead Redemption 2will follow “the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van Der Linda gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America to survive.” The previous trailer released for the game depicted Morgan as a debt collector for Dutch’s Gang. Furthermore, the trailer seems to confirm that the protagonist of the first game, John Marston, will make an appearance in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Red Dead Redemption 2set in 1899, will serve as a prequel to the previous game, which was set in 1911 after the closure of the frontier. Check out the game’s official description below:
The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed.
After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.”
After having gone through a series of multiple delays, Red Dead Redemption 2is now set to release on October 26 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which puts the launch of this one eight years after the release of its predecessor. Currently, Rockstar Games has not announced a PC version of the game to the disappointment of multiple fans on that platform.

Some incredibly interesting rumored story and character details have surfaced for Sony Pictures' upcoming adaptation of Masters of the Universe. As you'll see, there are possibly going to be some major changes that fans of the franchise will either embrace or rant about.
One of the biggest changes, which comes from That Hashtag Show, reveals that He-Man and Skeletor are actually brothers! They explain:
Our source has indicated to us that in the upcoming film, King Randor will be presented as the great warrior-king of Eternia, a descendant of the Grayskulls, and the father of two sons: Adam and Keldor! As the film begins, Keldor is the chosen heir to the throne and his brother, Adam, is young, unfit and a bit of a black sheep. Where Adam’s relationship with his father is strained, Keldor is the epitome of a perfect son, beloved by his father…until the fate of Eternia is put on the line. With his kingdom on the line, Randor puts his people first, betraying Keldor, inciting the series of events that leads to him becoming the iconic Skeletor!
The film will follow the meek and uncertain Adam as he assembles a group of heroes to take on his fallen brother and his collection of cronies. As you might expect, some familiar faces will be joining Adam in the fight.
This is definitely a direction that I didn't see coming, but one that will add an interesting dynamic to the story and characters. Personally, I think that I'm ok with this change. It sets up the two main characters in a way that gives them more emotional depth.
The report goes on to offer information on the other characters that will be used in the film:
Man at Arms
King Randor’s loyal weaponeer, Duncan is knowledgeable not only about all things weapon-related, but will also serve as a main source of exposition due to his knowledge of Eternia’s history. It seems reasonable to expect he’ll know a thing or two about the Power Sword, should Adam find some reason to go looking for it.
This version of Zodak was described as the King’s Minister of Technology and his right hand man. In the comics, Zodak was an immortal Eternian, having lived through the prehistoric war of the Ancients and the Snake Men, giving him some unique, if not biased, perspective. It seems that we can expect him to serve more of a mentor role to Adam here, described to us as a bit of an “Obi-Wan” type.
Man-at-Arms’ daughter, Teela is Adam’s best friend and, as you might expect, the two will develop a romantic relationship. In canon, Teela was Captain of Eternia’s Royal Guard and we know that she’ll serve in the military in the film as well.
One of the He-Man’s most loyal allies, Orko was also one of the most interesting additions to the line. Developed to add some comedy to the 80’s animated series, Orko became a key member of the group and his attempts at using the magic his people, the Trollans, were known for often ended badly. In the film Orko will be reimagined as a small man whose self-doubt holds him back from being a reasonably mediocre wizard.
Nicknamed the Angel of Death, Stratos is the leader of the Sky Guards of the Iron Gate Prison on Avion where Skeletor and his crew are imprisoned at one point.
Speaking of Skeletor’s cronies, here’s a look at who we were told to expect to see line up along Skeletor as he searches for the Havoc Staff!
Possibly Skeletor’s most well-known and beloved (if it’s possible to love a bad guy) henchman, Beast Man, the first action figure developed for the line by Mattel, is in! Always a savage and powerful foe, this iteration of Beast Man will bring a little something different to the table: he’s a shapeshifter with the ability to turn into any type of beast, making him a useful spy for Skeletor as well as a formidable fighter. No word on if he’ll find himself trapped in the slime pit…again.
A powerful and intelligent witch, Evil Lyn is the femme fatale of the film. She will use her power to help Skeletor reconstruct the Havok Staff and, probably, try to betray him and take power for herself. She’s always been open with Skeletor about hoping to rule Eternia for herself, so bringing that tenuous alliance to the big screen would provide some interesting opportunities.
Part man, part machine with razor sharp jaws, Trap Jaw is a pretty interesting choice and seems pretty disposable. The cyborg’s interchangeable parts make him interesting, but what we all really want to know is will we see him slide down a wire via the cool helmet loop?!!
It will be interesting to see what these characters actually end up looking like in the film. The visual style of this movie is going to be so important.
The movie is being directed by two brothers named Aaron and Adam Nee. They directed a little indie film back in 2015 called Band of Robbers. I have no idea if they are the right guys for the job, but we'll find out!
What do you think of all the rumored details that have been revealed?
