"This life of ours is a wonderful life... if you can get away with it."
We've got a new trailer for John Travolta's upcoming crime drama Gotti, which tells the story of the rise and fall of one of the most famous mafia bosses of all time, John Gotti. Travolta takes on the role of the infamous 'Teflon Don' and it looks like he gives a solid performance. Gotti seemed like a bit of an over-the-top kind of guy and Travolta nails that here. This looks like the best film project that the actor has been a part of in a long time.
Gotti follows infamous crime boss John Gotti’s (Travolta) rise to become the “Teflon Don” of the Gambino Crime Family in New York City. Spanning three decades and recounted by his son John Jr. (Spencer Lofranco), GOTTI examines Gotti’s tumultuous life as he and his wife (Kelly Preston) attempt to hold the family together amongst tragedy and multiple prison sentences.
Travolta is also joined in the film by Pruitt Taylor Vince (Monster, Heroes Reborn), Stacy Keach (American History X, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For), Chris Mulkey (Captain Phillips, First Blood), and William DeMeo. Travolta’s real-life wife, Kelly Preston, and their daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, are also in the movie.
Gotti was directed by Kevin Connolly, who played ‘E’ on Entourage, and it was written by Leo Rossi and Lem Dobbs (Dark City, Haywire).
Lionsgate will release the film in theaters and On Demand on December 15th, 2017.
I’m still cooling down from Michael B. Jordan’s amazing performance as Erik Killmonger in Black Panther. It appears he has once again teamed up with Black Panther co-writer Joe Robert Cole for the Netflix film adaptation of Failsafe from Vault. Jordan is set to produce the film through his production company Outlier Society Productions and he may star as well.
Failsafe was written by F.J. DeSanto and Todd Farmer and it sounds like it could be really cool. Here’s the synopsis:
This sounds pretty awesome to me! No word about when we’ll get to see this adaptation, but I can’t wait to find out more. Do you think Jordan should star in it, or should they get someone else?
A fascinating bit of information has been revealed regarding Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings in a new book detailing the director's journey of making the movie. The book reveals that at one point disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein threatened to fire Jackson and replace him with Quentin Tarantino on the project!
The book is called Anything You Can Imagine: Peter Jackson and the Making of Middle-earth, by Ian Nathan and in it, we learn that Weinstein hated the idea of breaking the film up into three films. He wanted that whole epic story to be condensed into one movie and the producer threatened to fire Jackson if he didn't do that.
Thanks to The Stuff, we have an excerpt from the book that reads:
"Harvey was like, 'you’re either doing this or you’re not. You’re out'. And I got Quentin ready to direct it'," Ken Kamins, a fellow producer called in by Weinstein to assist on the project, told Nathan.
Jackson himself recalled receiving a memo dated June 17, 1998 from the Miramax (the Weinstein’s production company) development head Jack Lechner at his New York hotel, which detailed what Nathan describes in the book as "a more radical, streamlined approach", which would enable the story to be told in a single movie. Helm’s Deep would be cut, Eowyn would replace Faramir as Boromir’s sister, the Balrog would disappear and even Saruman’s fate was in the balance.
In the book, Jackson went on to say, "It was literally guaranteed to disappoint every single person that has read that book." Thankfully Jackson won in the end. The Weinstein's ended sold the Lord of the Rings rights to New Line Cinema, who trusted Jackson's vision of the film and we got one of the greatest film trilogies ever made.
Luckily everything worked out for Jackson in the end, but, I can't help but wonder what a Lord of the Rings movie would have been like had Quentin Tarantino directed it! That would have been interesting.
A Marvel fan sadly passed away recently while watching Avengers: Infinity War. The man's name is Peddapasupula Baasha, he was 43-years-old and according to The Times of India, he passed away of a suspected heart attack. He was watching the movie in the Indian city of Proddatur, in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
According to to the report, the man was found by the staff after they assumed he was staying in the theater to watch the post-credits scene of the film, but Baasha wasn't moving from his seat even after the post-credits scene ended. They removed his 3D glasses, realized he passed away, and called the police.
Soon, Proddatur rural police reached the spot and examined the scene. Cops suspect that it could be a case of natural death or cardiac arrest. However, they sent his body to a local government hospital for post-mortem. A case under section 174 of CrPC (suspicious death) has been registered. The investigation is still on.
There's not a lot of information on the man, but it's sad to hear that someone lost their life while watching this movie. We'd like to extend our condolences to his family and friends.
It appears that a rumor has begun to plague the internet, raising hype with a big cup of disappointment to chase it down with. The poster feature Jason Momoa as Kratos, which he recently publicly announced interest in playing that role, set to release on Netflix coming July 15. This is nothing but a photo shopped image with the intention to prey on those still hyped up from the amazingly well reviewed title God of War which released in April.
If you haven't already searched Netflix to see a placeholder and information in regards to the supposedly upcoming show release, then know now that you will actually find a movie called God of War. This is not a movie featuring Kratos or any mythology within the game series though. Instead, you will be treated to a Chinese film originally titled Dang Kou Feng Yun, which is a story set during the Ming Dynasty covering both war and piracy, starring Wenzhou Zhao, Regina Wan, and Sammo Kam-Bo Hung.
The large belief in a God of War series featuring Momoa is understandable to a point. He is the most fitting actor to play the role by both looks and axe throwing skill, but the main thing people aren't taking on to account is how long it would take to create the series itself. It surely would be more than a few months, which would be the amount of time since Momoa announced his interest in the role.
At best, this series could very well be true and their announcement is in regards to a July 15, 2019 release date, but as of right now there is no official announcement of this series launching on any platform, let alone a Netflix original. I would love to see a series made for God of War and am one of the many who originally believed the announcement to be true. As heart breaking as the truth is, will you be about to recover from knowing that this series might never exist?
Finally! Guy Ritchie is returning to his filmmaking roots with a new film project he's directing called Toff Guys! Ritchie launched his career with films like Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. He went on to make big budget films that implemented his signature hyper high energy shooting style, like Sherlock Holmes, The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,King Author: Legend of the Sword, and the upcoming Disney film Aladdin.
This next film of his is said to be "set at the intersection of Sexy Beast and Downton Abbey, and follows a very English drug lord attempting to cash out on his highly profitable empire by selling it off to a dynasty of Oklahoma billionaires." Insiders said it’s "about old money, new money, and show me the money."
I've been wondering if Ritchie would ever make a movie like his earlier films again, so it's awesome to see that he's actually doing it! Ritchie also wrote the script for the film, which I imagine will be filled with that witty, rapid-fire dialogue with crazy, quirky characters. It will be interesting to see that English style collide with the American heartland!
I would love to see him cast Jason Statham and a few of the other actors from his earlier projects in this Toff Guys movie.
What do you think about Guy Ritchie going back to his roots with this next film of his?
Last week we learned of three female directors that Marvel Studios has met with to take on their Black Widow movie. We've now learned from Variety film reporter Justin Kroll that's just the tip of the iceberg. He says that the studio has met with over 65 different directors so far!
Fun fact: More then 65 directors have met for the BLACK WIDOW job. Marvel being extremely thorough on this one
That's a lot of directors! After such a far and wide search, it will be interesting to see who they end up hiring. The only three names that we know of are the three previously mentioned, which include Deniz Gamze Erguven (the Turkish movie Mustang), Chloe Zhao (The Rider), and Amma Asante(A United Kingdom). Marvel has always done a great job choosing directors for their projects, so whoever they bring on will end up being the right choice.
As for what story the film will tell, it was recently reported that the movie might be a prequel story and it would involve Black Widow and The Winter Soldier.
"The film will find Natasha living in the United States 15 years after the fall of the Soviet Union! That timeline places the film firmly in the mid-2000s, meaning we'll meet up with Nat prior to the events of Iron Man 2. That time frame opens up plenty of options, and while many fans seem to want a Black Widow/Hawkeye team up in Budapest, we've been told that early discussions about the film involved Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier."
That's just a rumor at the moment, but one that I hope turns out to be true. I'd like to see what kind of story they would make with these two characters.
Out of all the directors out there, is there anyone that you'd like to see direct Black Widow?
Honest Trailers has released an Honest Trailer for their own show and it's absolutely bonkers! What makes it so funny is the fact that it was written by a robot. The Screen Junkies commissioned Botnik Labs to create a "magical computer program that analyzed every single Honest Trailer script and generated this masterpiece." It pokes fun at all of their tropes, styles, and themes. The whole thing turned out amazingly funny and weird! I would love to see a movie with a Yoda vs. Dennis The Menace fight sequence!
The task of building and managing a city is pretty much complicated in itself. The sense of pride that players feel when they see their quaint towns develop into a vast metropolis with the perfect transport system and happy citizens. However, it’s also fun to watch that city go up in flames and crumble before our very eyes.
The PC version of Cities: Skylines have implemented tons of doomsday scenarios a few years back. However, console players can now join in the fun as the PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions of the game will receive a new expansion called Natural Disasters on May 15.
If Natural Disasters on consoles will be similar to the PC version, then players can expect multiple doomsday scenarios that range from earthquakes, thunderstorms, tsunamis, forest fires, tornadoes, sinkholes, and meteors. In addition, players can also play as the hero by planning for a disaster using early warning systems or respond to chaos with helicopters and organizing evacuations. Currently, Natural Disasters is priced at $15 on Steam, so it is expected that the console version will be the same or close to that price. You can check out the latest trailer for Cities: Skylines Natural Disasters below.
How will you bring chaos to your city? Although not a natural disaster, I'm hoping to see a viral outbreak option included in the game. I mean, who doesn’t want a simulation of the Raccoon City incident? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
