Last week, Jamie Lee Curtis wrapped shooting the new Halloween film from David Gordon Green and Danny McBride. Everything that the filmmakers have said about the film has got me pumped up for what they are creating, and now that Jaimie Lee Curtis is finished filming, she's sharing her own thoughts and it's sure to get fans of the horror franchise even more excited.
In a recent Tweet, she posted a photo of herself with Judy Greer, who plays Laurie's daughter Karen Strode, and Andi Matichak (Orange Is the New Black, Underground), who plays Allyson, the granddaughter of Laurie. The actress also said the film is "astonishingly scary", which is great to hear!
The movie is set after the first film and will act as if none of the other sequels had happened. In the story, "Curtis returns to her iconic role of Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago."
I also include a photo that Curtis previously shared of her back in the role of Laurie Strode. I really do hope the movie is as terrifying as Curtis says it will be.
It looks like Marvel's Black Panther is going to explode over Presidents Day weekend! The movie is blowing away expectations! It was originally estimated that the movie would $100 to $120 million on its opening weekend but has soared to an estimated $192 million domestically for the three-day portion of the weekend as it plays in 4,020 theaters. That makes it the highest debut ever for a February movie beating out Deadpool, which made $132.4 million in 2016. Projections also have it making over $387 million at the worldwide box office! How freakin' great is that!?
The movie is expected to gross over $218.2 million domestically through Monday. On Friday, the movie made $76 million, which is the eighth-highest opening day in box office history and the third largest opening day ever for a Marvel Studios film.
Black Panther was made on $200 million budget. And in case you haven't heard, it's the first Marvel movie sinceThe Avengers to receive an A+ CinemaScore.
Black Panther is certainly getting a lot of love, and it deserves it. It turned out to be a great film and Black Panther obviously has a long future in the MCU! Are you happy to see that Black Panther is succeeding?
Star Wars is not very popular in China. That’s why it is surprising that at the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, free skaters Xiaoyu Yu and Hao Zhang from China performed their routine to songs from those films. The songs used were "Leia" from the original trilogy and "Jyn Erso Suite" from Rogue One. The routine is pretty cool to watch, too. I can’t believe that figure skaters don’t get slashed up with how close faces get to the skates. Also, can we talk about how strong he’s got to be in order to hold her up one handed? Color me impressed. I guess their choice in music is another testament to how good the soundtrack has been for Star Wars movies. Even if you don’t like the movies, it’s hard to not like the beautiful music. Unfortunately, we don't have footage from the Olympics, but here's their routine from last year's Skate America.
The latest person to join the Detective Pikachu film is singer-actress Rita Ora. Ora just had a supporting role in Fifty Shades Freed and now she’s going for a more family-friendly movie as she joins Ken Watanabe and Suki Waterhouse as support in the upcoming Detective Pikachu film from Legendary.
Just like Waterhouse, the details of Ora’s character are being kept secret. The cast for this film is getting pretty diverse and pretty crazy in my opinion. I’m most interested in seeing some footage of Ryan Reynolds in the motion-capture suit for the role, though. The movie also stars Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies), and Ken Watanabe.
The story of Detective Pikachu centers around Smith’s character’s father getting kidnapped. He teams up with Pikachu (Reynolds) to help find him. Newton plays a journalist who helps them on their quest. Ken Watanabe will play a new character created for the film called Detective Yoshida.
The movie is being directed by Goosebumps director Rob Letterman from a script that is being written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls). Detective Pikachu will be the first film in a planned franchise centering on the character.
In addition to the casting announcement, It's reported that the release date for the film will be May 10, 2019.
Covers of awesome theme songs can be a lot of fun to listen to. What’s even cooler is if the artist can combine their cover with the original in some way. Jonathan Young recently did this with a metal cover of the “Pokemon Theme” that featured Jason Paige. Paige was the original singer for the original theme all those years ago when Pokemon first came to the United States. The song starts with Young doing the vocals, then Paige enters as backup before finally getting the spotlight he deserves. The video is promoting Young’s Pokemon Metal Album which is available on iTunes and Google Play and Amazon.
Before we get too excited about the live stage show for Jurassic World, let's not forget this isn't the first stage show to attempt to blow our minds with something of this nature. I remember begging my parents to take me to this back before the Pokemon movie was released because my sister and I were Pokemon crazy and were always blowing cash on Pokemon stuff. Looking at this commercial now, I'm glad they spared me this experience. Let's just hope this Jurassic World show is going to be better than this:
In case you needed to know whether or not technology is there for flying cars, here you go. In an incredibly horrifying video, the Light sport Ni43RS skyrunner gets absolutely destroyed shortly after takeoff when it collided with a building not that far away. Take a look (via Jalopnik) and continue reading below:
Surprisingly, neither passenger was killed in the incident, but both suffered serious injuries. My question is even if this test went well...what viability does this product have in a consumer's market? You can't really use it anywhere but on flat land, and even then it looks incredibly sketchy! Also, why did absolutely no one react to that crash? No screaming, swearing, rushing to their aid...it's very bizarre.
Side note, what year do you think flying cars become a thing? Do you think they ever will?
Ever since Black Mirror featured a brief cameo by Aaron Paul, fans of Breaking Bad have been searching for a way to connect the two worlds. Now, Netflix has had a little fun and combined the two worlds by mashing together a scene from Breaking Bad with the scene from "U.S.S. Callister," and it's amazing. Check it out and let us know if you'd like to see Aaron Paul star in his own Black Mirror episode.
Are you curious as to what happens when someone lights 42,000 matches all within close proximity of each other? They burn...but you probably already knew that. While we all know the outcome I can say that the result is far more satisfying than I thought it would be! Watch it burn below, and let us know about one of the craziest times you've set something on fire.
It is no secret that many people (myself included) believe the Fifty Shades movies are a blight on this world. They glamorize abusive relationships that are just awful and the story is poorly written. I know, it’s an easy target, but these movies deserve the CinemaSins treatment and the one for Fifty Shades Darker hit the nail on the head so many times. The final film, Fifty Shades Freed, is now in theaters, but I would recommend something else, such as finding a way to watch any of these great TV shows that ended too early.
