Gerard Butler's heist thriller, Den of Thieves, which is still currently playing in theaters is getting a sequel. Butler and director Christian Gudegast are both set to return. I thought the first film was pretty awesome and I'm happy to hear that we'll be getting a sequel.
According to Variety, "The second installment will place Butler’s character Big Nick on the hunt in the streets of Europe and closing in on Donnie, who is embroiled in the dangerous world of diamond theft, plotting a heist of the world’s biggest diamond exchange."
O’Shea Jackson Jr. is currently in negotiations to reprise his role as Donnie. Den of Thieves was Christian Gudegast's first time directing a feature film. Before that he wrote the scripts Speed Racer, A Man Apart, Immortals and London Has Fallen.
The movie has only made $57 million but STX obviously believes that they have a successful franchise on their hands so they're rolling with it. If you haven't seen the movie yet, you should check it out. If you have seen it, are you happy to see a sequel is going to happen?
