HBO has released the first firey teaser trailer for their adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s classic novel Fahrenheit 451. The film is being directed by Ramin Bahrani (99 Homes) and it stars Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther, Creed) and Michael Shannon (The Shape of Water, Man of Steel).
There's not much footage in the teaser, but it does a great job of setting the mood for the film, which is set in a future where the media is an opiate, history is rewritten and “firemen” burn books.
Jordan plays the character Montag, "a young fireman who forsakes his world and struggles to regain his humanity as he battles his mentor, fire captain Beatty", who is played by Shannon. Sofia Boutella (The Mummy, Kingsman: The Secret Service) also stars in the film as Clarisse, "an informant caught between the competing interests of Montag and Beatty."
The cast also includes Lilly Singh (Bad Moms) as Raven, "a tabloid reporter who works with the fire department to spread the ministry’s propaganda by broadcasting its book-burning raids to fans."
The film debuts this spring, exclusively on HBO. Are you excited about watching this adaptation of the classic book?
Natalie Portman is in talks to join Fox Searchlight's astronaut drama Pale Blue Dot. Reese Witherspoon was originally attached to star in the movie but she ended up dropping out of it due to scheduling conflicts with the production of HBO's Big Little Lies Season 2.
This role in Pale Blue Dot seems like a great opportunity for any actress, so what's Whitherspoon's loss is Portman's gain. The movie is being directed by Noah Hawley (Fargo, Legion) and this is the synopsis:
Pale Blue Dot follows a successful female astronaut who, after coming back home from a mission in space, starts to unravel when confronted by her seemingly perfect American dream life. The film explores the theory that astronauts who spend long periods of time in space begin to lose their sense of reality when they return home.
This is definitely a fascinating concept to explore and with Noah Hawley at the helm, I'm sure he'll do a great job telling the story that he is looking to tell. On top of that, this is a great role for Portman that she would be amazing in.
If you don’t know what RWBY is, I recommend you check it out. It’s a web anime series made by Rooster Teeth (the guys that make Red vs Blue) that follows a team of young girls, Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang, as they train to become huntresses and defend the world from Grimm. The show is fantastic and I highly recommend it. You can find it on YouTube as well as Rooster Teeth's site. That being said, the RWBY manga that was published in Viz Media’s Shonen Jump, will now make its way to stores starting January 16, 2018. According to Anime Mojo, Senior Editor at Rooster Teeth Joel Enos describes the manga as follows:
I’m really excited for the release. You can even pre-order it from Amazon or your preferred retailer where books are sold. Are you excited to delve into these backstories?
There's been a big Marvel movie release date shake-up at Fox. Deadpool 2, The New Mutants and Gambit all have new release dates.
Deadpool fans will be happy to hear that the sequel's release date has been moved up two weeks from June 1st to May 18th, 2018. This means that it will open up a week before Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is a brave move.
The X-Men horror film The New Mutants, on the other hand, has been pushed back 10 months. The Josh Boone-directed movie, which stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams and Charlie Heaton, is moving from April 13th to Feb. 22nd, 2019.
Why such a big push? According to THR, one reason is that the studio wanted to avoid having an overlap with Deadpool 2 in certain overseas marketplaces, where Mutants and Deadpool 2 would have been in theaters at the same time.
Then there's poor Gambit, which just lost its third director, Gore Verbinski. The release date for that film has been changed from February 14th, 2019, to June 7th, 2019. That was bound to happen as the studio is now currently on the hunt for a new director.
According to the report, the studio is still excited about the film and it's described as having a heavy comedic tone revolving around a heist. It'll probablky do better as a summer movie anyway.

I'm a huge fan of horror anthology films and this new one from the UK called Ghost Stories looks great! The creepy film in based on the long-running British horror stage show created by English magician Andy Nyman. The film centers around a psychologist and arch-skeptic named Professor Phillip Goodman. His rationality is tested when he "stumbles across a long-lost file containing details of three terrifying hauntings. He then embarks on a mission to find rational explanations for the ghostly happenings."
The movie stars Andy Nyman as Goodman, and he's joined by a solid supporting that includes Martin Freeman, Alex Lawther, Jill Halfpenny, Paul Whitehouse, Nicholas Burns, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Daniel Hill, Derren Brown, and Ryan Oliva.
This movie looks like it'll be a fun and scary flick and I'm looking forward to checking it out! Ghost Stories will be released something this year, but no specific date is given. Watch the trailer and tell us what you think!
I've seen some X-Files fans say that they hope Gillian Anderson's comments about leaving the series weren't really serious. I'm one of those fans, but it turns out that she's very series. So serious, in fact, that she won't even entertain the idea of coming back to the franchise to play Agent Scully ten years from now.
During the Television Critics Association press conference (via /Film) she explains how serious she is about this decision and explains why she wants to walk away:
"No, this is it for me. I’m really serious. I have so much respect for these guys and I have respect for Scully and I have respect for David [Duchovny] and it’s really sad, but I’m finished and that’s the end of that."
I can't help but think that she's annoyed by repeatedly being asked if she's really leaving the franchise. She goes on to say that she gave it a lot of thought and why she came to the conclusion that she did:
"I arrived at the decision before we did the previous six [episodes]. But I was really curious. I thought that the previous six was going to be it. It was dipping our toe back in again and just meeting up again and making the most of it and getting to play these wonderful characters again. I think as Chris has said himself that that short stack of episodes kind of felt like we were learning how to walk again, and that 10 feels like the pace is up and we’re running. But before we did these 10, I did think that that was going to be it. Why? There’s lots of things that I want to do in my life and my career. It’s been an extraordinary opportunity, an extraordinary character. I am hugely grateful, but there’s lots of other stuff I want to do and I don’t really want to be tied down to months and months of doing any particular one thing that I feel like I’ve done. That’s why."
David Duchovny then chimes in and says he's good if the series ends, and he's good if the series continues.
"I’ve tried to say goodbye to Fox Mulder many times, and I’ve failed. They did a show without me, so how do you like that? I’m good either way. I’m good with this being the end. I’m good with it not being the end."
Creator Chris Carterpreviously said that if Gillian is out, then he doesn't want to continue the series.
"For me, ‘The X-Files’is Mulder and Scully. I think if it were without Scully, I wouldn’t do it. That’s not my ‘X-Files.'"
The big question is, will Fox still want to do it? Would they proceed with the series without Carter or Anderson? Only time will tell, but if Carter and Anderson are out, there's no point. However, I have always wanted to see a prequel series based on the early FBI education and career of Fox Mulder.
We are two episodes into Season 11 and I'm loving it so far! This might just be the last season ever for The X-Files so I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.
Ever since Duncan Jones started talking about his film project Mute, I've been wanting to see it. This is a passion project for him and he's been developing it for the past 12-years. Well, we won't have to wait much longer before we finally get to see it. The director was asked on Twitter when the movie would be released, he revealed that it is coming next month.
So, it sounds like it's pretty much ready to go! Mute stars Alexander Skarsgård, Paul Rudd, and Justin Theroux, and the director has said that the movie is a homage to Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner as well as a "spiritual sequel" to Jones’ amazing film Moon.
Jones, who most recently directed Warcraft, is very excited about this movie and so am I! I'm sure we'll see the first trailer for it soon, so stay tuned. In the meantime, here's the synopsis:
Set in the near-future, Leo (Alexander Skarsgård) is a bartender living in the pulsing city of Berlin. Because of a childhood accident, Leo lost the ability to speak and the only good thing in his life is his beautiful girlfriend Naadirah (Seyneb Saleh). When she vanishes without a trace, Leo’s search for her takes him deep into the city’s seedy underbelly. A pair of wise-cracking American surgeons (Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux) are the only recurring clue and Leo is forced to take on this teeming underworld in order to find his love.on Netflix.
The Long Awaited Total War:Three Kingdoms finally has an announcement trailer. If you are like me, and love the Total War games, this video will give you goosebumps. The game features some beautiful cinematics, as well as hints of a possible story about, you guessed it, three different kingdoms coming together to overthrow a tyrant.
The game itself is centered around the year 190CE when the warlord Dong Zhuo controls most of the land. His power has been growing and with it the country has been thrown into a state of Anarchy and chaos. The heroes of the game are three individuals who have sworn to protect the people, as they band together along with a small coalition of forces to try to over throw Zhuo and his terrible regime.
The game looks to not only throw you against the tyrant leader Zhou, but also against the three allies themselves as their loyalties and desires shift. In the trailer you will see the once allied brotherhood separate and fight each other in the middle of a huge war. It will be interesting to see how that story plays out and how much it changes based on the faction you choose to play the game as.
Though the Game isn’t slated to release until This coming fall, hopefully this trailer will be enough to wet your palate for now.
Earlier today we reported that Channing Tatum's Gambit was supposed to start shooting with director Gore Verbinski. Well, things just took a big unexpected turn. According to Deadline, Verbinski has dropped out of the project.
The report says that this was "an amicable split", and that he left due to scheduling issues. Channing Tatum remains aboard as the lead role.
This movie just can't seem to get a break! It's crazy that it's gone through so many issues. This is director number three that has come and gone, which is a shame because I was excited about seeing Verbinski's vision come to life. I like Verbinski's style. Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt were the previous two directors attached.
There's no word on who might end up replacing him, but I'm sure the studio is already on the hunt. Regardless of the issues, the studio and Tatum are determined to get this movie into production!
Who would you like to see come on board to direct the movie? Hopefully whoever they get will actually work out this time!
