Starz has released a full trailer for their new sci-fi thriller series Counterpart that stars J.K. Simmons and it looks freakin' awesome! Simmons' also gets to play a complete badass! The trailer briefly explains the cool concept:
"Thirty years ago during the Cold War, there was an experiment. Something went wrong, they opened up a passage. When you go through this door, you come out the other side, identical to ours.". Here's the official synopsis:
The whole story revolves around an alternate universe that a secret organization tapped into. The official synopsis offers some additional info:
The espionage thriller follows a man named Howard Silk (Simmons), a lowly cog in the bureaucratic machinery of a Berlin-based UN spy agency. When Howard discovers that his organization safeguards the secret of a crossing into a parallel dimension, he is thrust into a shadow world of intrigue, danger, and double cross. The only man he can trust is "Prime," also played by Simmons, Howard's near-identical counterpart from this parallel world.
The trailer reveals a bit more to the story as it explains that a killer came through this interdimensional passage into the other world that is targeting and killing people. She's an assassin and Simmons' character has to team up with his alternate universe self to stop her from killing his wife.
This looks like a crazy cool and intriguing series and this trailer got me really excited about watching it!
Counterpart premieres on Starz January 21st, 2018.
Hot damn... the number of viewers for Stranger Things Season 2 has been revealed and the results are staggering. There were a massive amount of viewers that tuned in to watch when the series premiered on October 27th.
According to the Nielsen data (via Variety) that was released today, within the first three days, the first episode averaged 15.8 million U.S. viewers and nearly 11 million in the demo viewing on the TV. They also revealed that all nine episodes averaged 4 million viewers and 3 million in the demo.
Oh, and in case you're wondering how many people binged all nine episodes within the first 24 hours of its release, that number comes to 361,000 people. I was one of those people. Here's a full breakdown of each episode so far:
“Chapter One” averaged 15.8 million viewers and 11 million people 18-49 “Chapter Two” averaged 13.7 million viewers and 9.6 million people 18-49 “Chapter Three” averaged 11.6 million viewers and 8.1 million viewers 18-49 “Chapter Four” averaged 9.3 million viewers and 6.6 million viewers 18-49 “Chapter Five” averaged 8 million viewers and 5.6 million viewers 18-49 “Chapter Six” averaged 6.4 million viewers and 4.5 million viewers 18-49 “Chapter Seven” averaged 5.3 million viewers and 3.7 million viewers 18-49 “Chapter Eight” averaged 4.9 million viewers and 3.4 million viewers 18-49 “Chapter Nine” averaged 4.6 million viewers and 3.2 million viewers 18-49
Those numbers will continue to rise as audiences are still slowly getting through the season.
Nielsen is making new efforts to measure TV-show audiences of select subscription streaming services. But Netflix previously said they would not be involved with what they are doing. I'm not sure exactly how Nielson is coming up with these numbers, but Netflix released the following statement:
“The data that Nielsen is reporting is not accurate, not even close, and does not reflect the viewing of these shows on Netflix."
The de-facto leader of Team Rocket and Viridian City Gym Leader Giovanni will make his return in Pokemon Ultra Sun and UItra Moon, and he's rebooted his brand. Team Rocket is old news, and now Team Rainbow Rocket is what it's all about in this upgraded adventure. Check out the leader in action in the opening moments of this trailer and continue on below:
As you may have briefly seen in the trailer, Team Rainbow Rocket isn't the typical gang of goons from past entries in the series. With Giovanni comes a super team of the franchises biggest villains throughout Pokemon's 20-year history. I'd be lying if I said I knew who all of them were, but there's a poster that was released that fans can glance at and see who all is in tow:
Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon launches November 17th and will be the final Pokemon title for 3DS. Will you be picking it up?
I've been hearing that James Franco has given an amazing performance in The Disaster Artist, in fact, this could be one of the best performances of his career. Today we have a brand new trailer to share with you that highlights his insane performance as director Tommy Wiseau. The trailer also opens up some additional information on the story that includes the questions regarding Wiseau, where he came from and where he got the money to make his movie, The Room.
The film is based on the book, The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, the Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made, and it also stars Dave Franco and Seth Rogen. The book description:
Nineteen-year-old Greg Sestero met Tommy Wiseau at an acting school in San Francisco. Wiseau’s scenes were rivetingly wrong, yet Sestero, hypnotized by such uninhibited acting, thought, “I have to do a scene with this guy.” That impulse changed both of their lives. Wiseau seemed never to have read the rule book on interpersonal relationships (or the instructions on a bottle of black hair dye), yet he generously offered to put the aspiring actor up in his LA apartment. Sestero’s nascent acting career first sizzled, then fizzled, resulting in Wiseau’s last-second offer to Sestero of costarring with him in The Room, a movie Wiseau wrote and planned to finance, produce, and direct—in the parking lot of a Hollywood equipment-rental shop.
Wiseau spent $6 million of his own money on his film, but despite the efforts of the disbelieving (and frequently fired) crew and embarrassed (and frequently fired) actors, the movie made no sense. Nevertheless Wiseau rented a Hollywood billboard featuring his alarming headshot and staged a red carpet premiere. The Room made $1800 at the box office and closed after two weeks. One reviewer said that watching The Room was like “getting stabbed in the head.”
The ensemble cast also includes Alison Brie, Zac Efron, Josh Hutcherson, Jacki Weaver, Ari Graynor, and Jason Mantzoukas. The Disaster Artist is set to be released in theaters on December 1st.
It looks like director David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation) is zeroing in on Mark Strong (Kingsman) to play the main villain in Shazam! According to The Wrap, That villain is Doctor Sivana, an evil scientist who makes his first appearance in the 1940 comic Whiz Comics #2. This character is one of Captain Marvel's greatest adversaries. Here are some additional details on the villain in case you're not familiar with him:
In the most recent run of DC Comics’ the New 52 books, that “Shazam” is loosely based on, Sivana is depicted as a respected scientist desperate to save his family from an unknown plight. With science having failed him, he turns to magic. Doctor Sivana’s team finds what he believes to be the tomb of Black Adam; while attempting to open it, the scientist is half-blinded by magical lightning to the face (which has the side-effect of letting him see magic).
This seems like it would be a great role for Strong to take on. As you know, this isn't Strong's first time being a part of a comic book film. On top of the Kingsman movies, he also played Sinestro in the 2011 film Green Lantern. What do you think about strong stepping into the role of Doctor Sivana?
Variety is also reporting that actress Grace Fulton (Annabelle: Creation) is in talks to play one of Billy Batson’s friends in the film. If the two actors sign up, they will join Zachary Levi, who is set to play the lead character Shazam.
Based on the DC Comics character “Shazam!” Billy Batson becomes Captain Marvel, the world’s mightiest mortal, when he says the magic word “Shazam! The name is an acronym for six gods and heroes of the ancient world as well as their attributes. The wisdom of Solomon, strength of Hercules, stamina of Atlas, power of Zeus, courage of Achilles and speed of Mercury.
Shazam! is scheduled to be released on April 5th, 2019!
Seth MacFarlane's sci-fi comedy The Orville is such a fun show to watch! It ended up being so much different than I thought it would be and I'm absolutely loving it. So, I'm excited to report that FOX has officially renewed the series for a second season!
Michael Thorn, president of entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company had this to say in a statement:
“Once again Seth has struck a powerful chord with viewers. He has delivered a series full of optimism, drama and his trademark humor. We want to thank him and the rest of the talented cast, as well as the producers and crew, for an incredible first season. We can’t wait to see where The Orville travels in the second.”
I can't wait to see where MacFarlane and his team will take the show in Season 2 as well. If you haven't been watching The Orville, you've got to jump on board because it provides some wonderfully funny entertainment.
If you're already a fan of the show, I'm sure you're happy to learn that we'll have a whole other season to enjoy!
Every movie that Quentin Tarantino has made in his career has been made with Harvey Weinstein at Miramax and The Weinstein Company. Well, that all going to change with his next film. Like everyone else in Hollywood, Tarantino no longer wants to be associated with Harvey Weinstein in any way so he's looking for a new studio to produce his new movie.
According to Deadline, ever major studio is reading the script right now except for Disney because, well... Disney isn't going to be involved with a Tarantino film!
The movie is being referred to a #9 because it's Tarantino's ninth movie. The story was initially rumored to be set in the late '60s-early 70s in Los Angeles and that it would follow the Manson family murders. The initial report described the film as centering "on Sharon Tate, the actress, and wife of director Roman Polanski who was murdered by Manson and his followers in 1969."
The recent report goes on to say, "there has been a lot of press that the script focuses on Charles Manson and the murder spree he orchestrated, but I’m told that is akin to calling Inglourious Basterds a movie about Adolf Hitler, when the Nazi leader was only in a scene or two." So, maybe Manson won't really be the main focus of it at all.
One thing we do know for sure is that Sharon Tate will be the central character and that Tarantino is looking at casting Margot Robbie to star, which would be perfect casting. Tarantino has also been in talks with Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson, to join the project as well. However, as of right now, no one is locked in.
I'm really curious to see what Tarantino ends up doing with this film. I love all of the movies that he's made in his career and I'm sure this one is going to tell another crazy rough and rowdy story.
Former Secretary Of Labor Robert Reich says there's no way a working American shouldn't be getting by, and he has a documentary coming out to prove it. Saving Capitalism talks about the divide between the obscenely wealthy and just about everyone else, and asks what we can do to close that gap. Admittedly I'm curious to hear what he has to say, although this project drops the same day as The Punisher (November 17th) so I'll have to put it on my queue to watch after that.
Take a look at the trailer and let us know what you think.
The days of replacing your useful AI home assistant for memes are finally upon us. The Pokemon Company announced today they'll be releasing a "Pikachu Talk" app, which is designed to replace your Alexa or Google Home AI with the voice of the Pokemon Pikachu. This means if you download the app and ask "Pikachu, what were the NBA scores last night," you'll be met with...
"Pika Pikachu Pika pi pika chu. Pika chu chu Pika pi Pika Pi."
It's the kind of hilariously useless app you'd expect Japan to roll out, but I'm tempted to purchase an Amazon Echo just to try it out. Either that, or download it on a friend's device and drive them crazy when they realize what has been done.
Seriously though, we have no idea whether or not this app will be useful or not, but all signs so far point to no. That said, would you download it anyway?
After years of torturing children all across America, Jimmy Kimmel is finally pranking his own child and telling them he ate their Halloween candy. Surprisingly, Kimmel's daughter is pretty chill about it, although she does get a little extra disappointed when she learns the Swedish Fish are gone as well. Check out her reaction, and be on the lookout for more "I ate your candy videos" this week!
