Star Wars: The Last Jedi will feature some foes that were briefly seen in The Force Awakens if firsthand accounts from on-set filming can be believed.
THR reports members of the press who were on-set in Ireland witnessed a battle between Rey, Luke, and The Knights Of Ren, although accounts of what was seen tend to vary.
Some reports indicate that Poe and Finn are also present for this battle, and there's also a bit about the Millenium Falcon taking considerable damage during the exchange. There's also a bit about Rey and Luke climbing a tree and spotting something that wasn't seen that will probably be CGI'd in the film in post-production.
According to the THR report one account "showed John Boyega and Oscar Isaac, as well as Ridley and Hamill, scampering up and down Skellig’s steep hillside and shooting scenes in Oscar-winning production designer Rick Heinrichs’ breathlessly cantilevered Jedi village, which was suspended 700 feet above the surf."
Then on the message boards at StarWarsNewsNet, someone who claimed to have been at the event offered another take on the footage screened:
"Kylo and the knights of Ren attack Luke and Rey on Ahch to. Seems to be a prolonged battle. Dusk into night time light. The Falcon takes heavy damage in some beauty shots over Ireland. Presumably trying to escape. Luke joins Rey in the tree and they're not alone. Both turn/look at a point while inside."
Whatever the case it appears that Rey and Luke's time on Ahch-To will be interrupted, and I can't wait to see how the two go up against their enemies!
Blade Runner 2049 was a long movie, but it could have been, much, much longer. Director Denis Villeneuve reportedly considered something that would have made the highly anticipated Blade Runner sequel even longer.
In an interview with Provideo Coalition, Blade Runner 2049 editor Joe Walker revealed that an earlier cut of the film was four hours and Villeneuve considered releasing it in two parts!
"That break revealed something about the story – it’s in two halves. There’s K discovering his true past as he sees it and at the halfway mark he kind of loses his virginity (Laughs). The next morning, it’s a different story, about meeting your maker and ultimately sacrifice – “dying is the most human thing we do.” Oddly enough both halves start with eyes opening. There’s the giant eye opening at the beginning of the film and the second when Mariette wakes up and sneaks around K’s apartment. We toyed with giving titles to each half but quickly dropped that. But what does remain is that there’s something of a waking dream about the film. That’s a very deliberate choice in terms of visuals but also the kind of pace they were striving for on set and the hallucinatory feel in the cut – it’s the kind of dream where you tread inexorably closer to the truth."
It's obvious this plan was scrapped, but the movie still ended up being over 2 and half hours long. Walker said that extra footage is mostly connective scenes and extra dialogue. He even said the theatrical version is superior to the longer cut.
What do you think, would you have liked to see a 4-hour cut of the movie?
Happy Halloween! Starz has just released an awesome teaser trailer for Ash Vs. Evil Dead Season 3! I love the opening scene of this trailer where we see Ash (Bruce Campbell) going up against a high school mascot deadite! It looks like we've got another amazing fun and blood-filled season to look forward to as Ash reunites with his long-lost daughter.
“The third season finds Ash, having gone from murderous urban legend to humanity-saving hometown hero, discovering that he has a long-lost daughter who’s been entrusted to his care. When Kelly witnesses a televised massacre with Ruby’s fingerprints all over it, she returns with a new friend to warn Ash and Pablo that evil isn’t done with them yet. But evil will learn to never get in between a papa bear and his cub.”
We also see that Ruby is back and hellbent on getting revenge. We also get a glimpse at a few other deadites that Ash will be fighting in the upcoming series. This show has been an absolute blast to watch, and it just keeps getting more and more insane! I'm so excited for this third season!
Ash Vs. Evil Dead Season 3 is set to premiere on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at 9pm.
As you know, legendary anime director Hayao Miyazaki came out of retirement to direct another film. Many fans thought it would be a feature film adaptation of his short film Kemushi no Boro(Boro the Caterpillar), but that's not the case at all.
Production is currently underway at Studio Ghibli on the new film, the title of which has been revealed to be Kimi-tachiwa Dō Ikiru ka, which translates to How Do You Live?
The movie is based on the 1937 book of the same name written by Genzaburō Yoshino. The story follows a 15-year-old boy named Koperu and his uncle, who move to new neighborhood, as the kid deals with spiritual growth, bullying, poverty, education, work, courage, and how to live as a human being.
When talking about why Miyazaki came out of retirement for this film, producer Toshio Suzuki revealed that it was for his grandson, and the reasoning is very touching:
“Miyazaki is making the new film for his grandson. It’s his way of saying ‘Grandpa is moving on to the next world, but he’s leaving behind this film.'”
Wow. I guess we should expect this new film to completely melt our hearts. The goal is to release it on 2020 or 2021, and I can't wait to see how it turns out.
If you're a fan of Stranger Things, you might want to consider buying yourself this creepy Stranger Things-themed candle called "Eleven's Bleeding Nose".
As you can see, the melted red candle wax drips out of the nose like blood. There's one little mistake they made with this, though... the nosebleed is coming out of the wrong nostril! Not sure how they managed to miss that detail, but they totally did! Regardless, it's still pretty cool.
Here's the description provided by Firebox, where you can pre-order it for $39:
After a series of harrowing experiments in a shady forest laboratory... we finally managed to make this ornament bleed from the nose.
The Eleven Bleeding Nose Candle is easily the strangest thing we've ever created. Simply melt the red candle inside this hefty ceramic bust, and 'blood' will trickle out of her nostrils – just like she's overexerted herself during a psychokinetic episode.
Depending on her mood; other abilities may include – crushing coke cans, making bullies wet themselves and generally warding off creatures from the upside-down.
This giant ornament comes with two red candles and we've even included a handy 'nose picker' tool in case she gets a blockage.
Gaming news has been all about Super Mario Odyssey as of late, and with good reason. The game has been getting scores of perfect reviews, and sales are through the roof. In fact, Nintendo has recently announced the game sold 2 million units in just 3 days.
For a reference of just how impressive that is, it took The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild a month to accomplish that same feat. While the game has similar critical acclaim, it's also worth mentioning that, at the time, it's sales figures matched close to the amount of total Switch's shipped. With now over 7 million Nintendo Switch consoles out in the market, it's only logical the numbers will climb higher with a first party Nintendo title coming out.
It really doesn't need to be said at this point, but once again this is great news for the Switch. Critics are happy, users are happy, and minus their shitty internet service, I can say I'm happy for the most part too. Can they keep things rolling? Does anyone see the Switch collapsing at this point? I want your thoughts.
The first trailer has been released for an upcoming hardcore Thailand-set prison boxing thriller called A Prayer Before Dawn. The film was directed by Jean-Stephane Sauvaire and it looks really freakin' good! The movie is based on a true story, that follows a British boxer who gets thrown into prison in Thailand and works his way up in the system by boxing in tournaments. It looks like a crazy intense film and I'm looking forward to checking it out!
A Prayer Before Dawn is the remarkable true story of Billy Moore, a young English boxer incarcerated in two of Thailand’s most notorious prisons. He is quickly thrown into a terrifying world of drugs and gang violence, but when the prison authorities allow him to take part in the Muay Thai boxing tournaments, he realizes this might be his chance to get out. Billy embarks on a relentless, action-packed journey from one savage fight to the next, stopping at nothing to do whatever he must to preserve his life and regain his freedom. Shot in a an actual Thai prison with a cast of primarily real inmates, A Prayer Before Dawn is a visceral, thrilling journey through an unforgettable hell on earth.
We already know from Return of the Jedi, that the Ewoks don't discriminate when it comes to eating. The "hate em or love em" forest dwellers came very close to serving up some Luke Skywalker with a side of Han and Chewy. So it comes as no surprise that the this subject comes to light once again in the latest animated Star Wars short Forces Of Destiny.
“Imperial Feast” has Leia saving some imperial prisoners from becoming a celebration feast. The episode also sees Han and Star Wars Rebels’ Hera Syndulla interacting for the first time being set during the end of Return of the Jedi.
We've already seen enough to know Spider-Man for PS4 is going to be good, but this last trailer really has us getting our hopes up. Check out the trailer below, and continue on for some analysis:
First off, wow do those action sequences look good. The action isn't the only thing to be excited about, however, as it looks like for the first time ever a Spider-Man game will let you travel around as Peter Parker? That's not a 100% thing, but it did look like there were some sequences featuring the player controlling Parker, and maybe even MJ.
We also saw alternate Spider-Man Miles Morales get introduced, so we're hoping for some action with him involved! As for other familiar faces we see Aunt May, Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) heading to prison, Norman Osborn (Green Goblin) running for mayor, and a new villain, Mr. Negative, looking to destroy New York.
One thing that isn't apparent from the trailer, but has already been confirmed is that the game will be open world. Insomniac has confirmed that the entirety of New York will be accessible to Peter Parker from the game's beginning, although it looks like some levels will be restricted to certain buildings.
The new game is scheduled to release in 2018, who's excited?
Paramount Pictures is moving forward with their remake of Stephen King's Pet Semetary. The studio has hired the directors behind the fantasy horror film Starry Eyes, Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer, to helm the film. Starry Eyes was actually a pretty good horror film, but are the directors the right fit for Pet Semetary? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
The original film scarred the living shit out of me when I was a kid. It's one of my favorite horror films, and I'd say it's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. The movie gave me nightmares for months! To this day when I look into the dark corner of my bedroom before I fall asleep, I can't help but think of Zelda walking out of the shadows toward me saying, "I'll twist your back like mine so you'll never get out of bed again!" That movie messed me up!
Anyway, it's gonna be hard to outdo what's already been done. That original film is a perfect horror movie in my eyes, and I doubt this remake will be better than what's already been done. As a fan of the book and the original film, I do hope that they can actually give us fans a solid and scary-ass movie that we'll enjoy!
