Paramount Pictures has announced that producer James Cameron and director Tim Miller's new Terminator film will be released on July 26th, 2019!
I know the last three Terminator films haven't turned out to be as good as fans hoped, but this next one actually has a good shot of being the Terminator sequel fans have been waiting for. That's mostly because of the involvement of Cameron, who seems to be working with a great team of talent.
On top of bringing the director of Deadpool on board, he's also brought in David Goyer (Batman Begins), Charles Eglee (Dark Angel) and Josh Friedman (Avatar sequels, The Sarah Connor Chronicles) as his writing staff. Then, of course, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton will reprise their roles!
The upcoming film will be a direct sequel to Terminator 2 and will ignore all of the other films that have been made since. Cameron previously said that they are currently looking for a young 18-something-year-old woman to be the centerpiece of the new story. He went on to say:
“We still fold time. We will have characters from the future and the present. There will be mostly new characters, but we’ll have Arnold and Linda’s characters to anchor it.”
The filmmaking team are also looking to embrace the old age of Schwarzenegger for this next trilogy of films. You can read what they had to say about that here. I guess if there was ever a Terminator movie to get extremely excited about, it's this one.
The classic 1986 sci-fi film Flight of the Navigator was one of many films that I loved watching when I was a kid. A remake of the film has been in and out of development for years and it looks like it's going back into development with a new writer.
According to THR, Lionsgate and The Henson Co. has hired Joe Henderson to write the script. Henderson is best known for his work on Lucifer, 11.22.63, and White Collar. The guy has done some great work in TV, so it gives me hope that maybe he'll do a decent job with Flight of the Navigator.
Over the years, Brad Copeland (Arrested Development, Wild Hogs) was attached to the project as was Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, who were set to write the script. Things obviously didn't work out in these instances.
The story follows a 12-year-old boy who gets abducted by an alien spacecraft. He ends up traveling eight years into the future from 1978 to 1986. The only problem is he can't remember what happened. NASA enters the picture and tries to exploit the poor kid. He ultimately escapes with the ship and attempts to get back to his family.
I'm a bit leery about this movie getting remade. Nothing I can say will stop it from happening, so if it does eventually get off the ground, hopefully it turns out to be a good movie for a new audience to enjoy.

I imagine that we'll see another trailer for it soon, and I can't wait! It will be interesting to see if they can top the first trailer that was released at Comic-Con.

For years, fans of the 1993 film Hocus Pocus have been waiting for a sequel. There was even talk over the years that it could happen. Well, unfortunately, you will not be getting a sequel to the film that would reunite Bette Middler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker. No. Instead, you will be getting a Disney Channel movie remake.
I don't know if you watch those Disney Channel movies, but they don't really offer top quality entertainment. It's more of just cheap entertainment for little kids that don't care or know any better.
The movie, which chronicles what happens when three villainous witches are inadvertently resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts, is set to be written by Scarlett Lacey (The Royals), and it will be executive-produced by David Kirschner, who was a producer on the original movie.
According to Deadline, The new Hocus Pocus iteration will have a new cast and a new director. I'm sure they'll just cast a bunch of their big familiar Disney Channel stars to star in the movie. What do you all think about Hocus Pocus getting a Disney Channel remake?
Director Jonathan Levine (Snatched, Warm Bodies, The Wackness) is teaming up with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris on a sequel to Eddie Murphy’s classic comedy hit Coming to America, Deadline confirms Barris will rewrite a script by Barry Blaustein & David Sheffield.
Murphy is expected to return to his iconic role for the Paramount sequel, though nothing has been officially finalized. Blaustein and Sheffield wrote the original Coming to America, directed by John Landis.
Coming To America was released in theaters in 1988, so it goes without saying that a few decades are expected to have passed in the storyline. I'm speculating, but it would be fun to see Murphy in the role of a King who sends his son or daughter to America to find love. Maybe giving him an idea of what his father (James Earl Jones) went through in the original film.
A red-band trailer has been released for Owen Wilson and Ed Helms' upcoming comedy Father Figures in which they go on a hunt to find out who their dad is. It looks like it could be a funny flick. I liked what I saw in this trailer.
The movie has an all-star supporting cast that includes J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), Katt Williams, Terry Bradshaw, Ving Rhames (the Mission Impossible films), Harry Shearer (The Simpsons), June Squibb (Nebraska), Christopher Walken (The Deer Hunter), and Glenn Close (Guardians of the Galaxy).
Wilson and Helms are Kyle and Peter Reynolds, brothers whose eccentric mother raised them to believe their father had died when they were young. When they discover this to be a lie, they set out together to find their real father, and end up learning more about their mother than they probably ever wanted to know.
The film comes from veteran cinematographer Lawrence Sher (The Hangover films), and this marks his directorial debut.
Industrial Light & Magic has released an extremely cool "Behind The Magic" visual effects reel for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. There's seriously some great stuff to see.
This full-length reel represents a sample of the work created for over 1750 shots by hundreds of artists, scientists, and engineers around the world.
There's a ton of hard work that went into bringing this story to life with these incredible visuals. It shows how they brought cities and planets to life, how the action sequences were shot, the creation of the detailed layers of the Death Star, the CGI resurrection of Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin, the placement of characters from the original Star Wars film, and more.
This is a must watch video for any Star Wars fan or anyone who is interested in the art of VFX. It'd be so cool to be involved with this kind of work!
SPOILER ALERT, so turn away now if you don't want to know, but Nerdist thinks they cracked the code on Season 2 of Stranger Things true enemy. The theory is that Will Byers, is in some way the true antagonist of Hawkins, Indiana, although I'm not exactly sure I follow it all the way through. Is Will dead and who they pull out is a fake Will, or has Will been evil this whole time? Listen to the theory below and let us know what you think.
I am a huge fan of the first Red Dead western video game franchise! It started in 2004 with Red Dead Revolver, then we got the epic Red Dead Redemption game in 2010. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 and today we have a badass new trailer to share with you that was released by Rockstar Games!
The game will tell the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang "as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive."
Red Dead Redemption 2 is described as "an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland." It's also be revealed that the game’s "vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand-new online multiplayer experience."
This is one of my most anticipated games coming out. This and Star Wars: Battlefront II are the two that I'm incredibly excited about. I can't wait to play this, it looks so freakin' awesome!
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime in Spring of 2018.
