If you aren't watching yet, I'm here to give you your weekly reminder that The Deuce IS one of the best shows on television right now. Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco aside, the show has a lot of storylines and characters to work with that makes an hour pass by in no time!
For those that did watch last night, here's a behind the scenes look at last night's episode, which gives some explanation between the weird dynamic between pimps and their prostitutes. It's kind of amazing how much thought they've put in this show, although who can really be surprised when it's coming from the same people who did The Wire?
If you're not familiar with Tommy Wiseau's The Room yet, you need to familiarize yourself with it! The film is described as the “Citizen Kane of bad movies” and James Franco has made a film that tells the story of the making of the cult classic and it looks hilarious! If you haven't seen the trailer yet, you can watch it here.
If you are familiar with The Room, you are going to enjoy this video in which Wiseau reviews it with James and Dave Franco, and Greg Sestero. Sestero is the actual co-star of The Room who it played by Dave Franco in The Disaster Artist. Anyway, this is probably the only review that you need to watch for the film. The video posted by the L.A. Times‘ Jen Yamato.
I've heard a lot of great things about The Disaster Artist and I can't wait to see it for myself. One of the things I thought was funny about the video is every time Franco would talk to Wiseau, he would slip back into Wiseau’s accent. I can't tell if he realized it or not!
The film is described as a buddy comedy about "two outsiders chasing a dream. When the world rejects them, they decide to make their own movie – and it’s a movie so wonderfully awful due to its unintentional hilarious moments, meandering plots and terrible acting."
The Disaster Artist opens in select theaters December 1, 2017.
It's hard to watch Jared Leto do interviews as a regular dude knowing all the weird shit he does when he prepares for roles, but somehow I managed to press on through this video because it's pretty entertaining. I will say though if you plan on playing along with Leto and Jimmy Fallon in guessing the song you're going to have a bit of a challenge as The Roots really picked some subtle melodies (save like two) that you don't know until Fallon guesses it.
Watch the video below and go see Blade Runner 2049 sometime this weekend.
Mondo has two new prints inspired by Richard Donner's classic 1985 adventure film The Goonies and if you're a fan, you'll want to get one for yourself! The prints were created by artist George Bletsis and one of them has the sunlight shining down on the Goonies, while the other features the moonlight.
The artist talked about his prints saying:
“I’m absolutely overjoyed to have work on a Goonies piece; it was one of the movies that influenced me most as a kid, sending my friends and me into an adventuring frenzy! My main aim when coming up with the concept for the poster was to try and capture how grand the adventure facing the kids is, and to convey the feeling that the spirit of One-eyed-Willy is looming large over everything they do. I tackled this almost as if I were designing The Goonies as an animated series, so I worked with a really limited palette, focused on the bold shapes of the landscape, and tried to keep the kids silhouettes strong and recognizable.”
I'd love to get one of these prints! Unfortunately, they sold out earlier today in a only a few minutes. Bummer.
The brothers behind some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's best films are working on a pilot for NBC Universal's cable network, Syfy.
THR reports the cable network has ordered a pilot for the adaptation of the graphic novel Deadly Class. The project is based on the Image Comics title from co-creators Rick Remender and Wes Craig and follows a teen that has been recruited into a high school for assassins. He tries to hold to his morals while trying to survive a ruthless curriculum, and deadly clans that attend the same school. Set in the late 1980s, the drama is described as a unique coming-of-age journey.
Remender and Miles Feldsott adapted Deadly Class for the small screen. Joe and Anthony Russo (The Avengers, Captain America) will executive produce the pilot. Lee Toland Krieger (The Age of Adaline) will direct.
Deadly Class is just one pilot on Syfy's list of impressive projects, among them the Tremors reboot as well as The Purge, which is based on the film franchise and is set to air on both USA and Syfy.
Syfy, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, is doubling down on science-fiction programming.
Warner Bros. has released a series of new character posters for Justice League featuring Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). They are still keeping Superman (Henry Cavill) out of the marketing because they obviously don't want us to see him in his resurrected form yet. I don't think we'll see anything from Superman until the film is released. I know we've seen him in some other promo photos and art, but I don't think that will be his look. Fans are expecting him to be wearing a black suit with long hair when he comes back from the dead. We'll just have to wait and see!
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Comic artist Neal Adams recently shared a video on YouTube of an audio play that he created for the DC Comics and Looney Tunes crossover comic Batman Vs. Elmer Fudd. In the video he performs excerpts from the comic in the voices of the characters and it's incredibly fun and entertaining to listen to!
It takes the story to a whole new weird level and I love it! His Elmer Fudd impression is actually really impressive! Adams voices all the characters except for the character St. Cloud. That character was voiced by his wife.
The comic comes from Tom King (The Vision, The Sheriff of Babylon) and Lee Weeks (Daredevil, Captain America) and this is the plot summary:
After a chance meeting with billionaire Bruce Wayne, multi-millionaire Elmer Fudd’s obsession quickly escalates into stalking Batman through the dark alleys and high-class social settings of Gotham City.
Elmer Fudd is basically looking to kill Batman for presumably killing his lover. Now watch the video below and enjoy the greatness! You're gonna enjoy this...

Sony Pictures is unexpectedly moving forward with a Men in Black spinoff film. The movie is being fast-tracked and it's set to be released on May 17th, 2019. According to Deadline, they have hired Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight screenwriters Matt Holloway and Art Marcum to write the film.
Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones aren’t expected to reprise their roles, but the film will acknowledge and build on the same world that they inhabited. According to the report the film will focus on "new characters chasing villains that put the picture on more of a global scale than the two previous films." They go on to say that the "ambition is akin to the way that Jurassic World rebooted and expanded that franchise."
I've always enjoyed the Men in Black films and I hope that this one turns out good. I thought the next Men in Blackfilm we saw would be the one that would crossover with 21 Jump Street. That movie is still in development and will feature Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill’s characters suiting up in black to battle aliens.
This spinoff will basically relaunch the franchise and be the base for whatever the studio plans on doing next with it.
The spin-off is being produced by Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald and executive produced by Steven Spielberg. They are actively involved right now in meeting with directors and they hope to hire one soon.
Parkes confirmed the spin-off with Deadline saying:
“It’s so rare to get to the end of the script and know you’re holding a movie in your hands – but Art and Matt have written a spinoff that somehow is true to the core of the MIB world, and yet expands the franchise to a fresh new place."
I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of this. What do you think about Sony moving forward with this MIB spinoff?
