By now it goes without saying that Stan Lee is pretty much expected to appear in every marvel movie from now on, so it comes as no surprise when Lee confirms that he has already filmed five more Marvel Cinematic Universe movie cameos, including one for the not-yet titled Avengers 4.
Now that Lee is 94 years young, many fans are starting to wonder just how much longer he will be able to show his smiling face on the big screen. He has already scaled back on the amount of time he spends on the convention circuit. But for now, it looks like Lee’s beloved MCU cameos will be around for at least for the next couple of years.
During Lee's recent appearance at Wizard World Nashville 2017, his personal manager revealed that Stan has already filmed his cameos for five upcoming MCU entries, up to and including 2019’s Avengers 4:
“What we can say about Avengers: Infinity War is that he filmed both parts, one and two. We did Ant-Man, we did Black Panther. We did Thor too.”
It was already known that Lee had done a cameo for Thor: Ragnarok, even Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth calling Lee’s cameo his greatest to date. But this is the first time we've heard that Lee has already filmed cameos for Black Panther,Avengers: Infinity War,Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Avengers 4 though.
They didn't mention Captain Marvel, which is only odd seeing that it hits theaters on March 2019, that's before Avengers 4’s release. One can only assume it is already planned and has become one of the requirements for every MCU script from this point on.
Justice League is only two months from hitting theaters which means the studio will start ramping up marketing campaigns and press events. With the behind-the-scenes director shuffle from Zack Snyder to Joss Whedon, the question arises... who will be the one to promote the film to the press. Well, it looks like SuperbroMovies got the answer we were all wondering.
SuperbroMovies reached out to Snyder’s publicist to ask if Snyder would be speaking with the press in promotion of the new movie, and received this answer:
“Zack will not be doing any press for Justice League, but thank you for asking.”
Snyder left the production of Justice League in May following a family disaster, announcing he was spending more time with his family. His daughter Autumn took her own life a few months earlier and Snyder said the tragedy took a major toll on his family.
Whedon took over the film after that and ever since there have been many reports and rumors regarding just how much of the movie was being reshot. Now Whedon is also receiving credit as a co-writer on the film’s script alongside Chris Terrio.
Reshoots are still underway with only two months before the film premieres in theaters. But some reports say the reshoots are taking so long because the schedules of these high profile actors are difficult to line up.
A fan-shot video popped up online showing Mr. Robot actor Rami Malek rocking out while shooting scenes for the new biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. In the video, you can see Malek recreating Queen's legendary Live Aid performance while portraying the late singer Freddie Mercury. We got our first look at the actor in the role last week.
In the video, Malek takes the stage just like Wembley Stadium in 1985. Malek shows some very Freddie Mercury-esque dance moves before taking a seat at the piano.
Malek announced the role last November. Several actors and directors came and left the biopic over the last few years. At one point Sacha Baron Cohen was cast as Mercury but dropped out over disagreements on how the film would cover the more obscene details of the Queen singer's life. New life was breathed into the project when actor Ben Winshaw and director Dexter Fletcher came on board, but that also fell apart due to creative differences.
Bohemian Rhapsody will cover Queen's rise from the 1970s through Live Aid, six years before Mercury died of complications from AIDS. The film is expected to open December 25th, 2018.
Liam Neeson and director Jaume Collet-Serra (Non-Stop, Unknown, The Shallows) have teamed up again for a new thriller called The Commuter. The story follows a mild-manner insurance salesman who is invited to participate in an experiment on a commuter train that involves finding a person that doesn't belong on the train and a lot of money. As you might image, because this is a Liam Neeson movie, things get crazy intense and out of hand as he has to fight for his life.
This has the makings of an entertaining thriller. I've enjoyed all of the films that Collet-Serra and Neeson have made together, so there's a good chance I'll like this one as well. I just think their wild stories are a lot of fun to watch. Here's the synospsis:
In this action-packed thriller, Liam Neeson plays an insurance salesman, Michael, on his daily commute home, which quickly becomes anything but routine. After being contacted by a mysterious stranger, Michael is forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on his train before the last stop. As he works against the clock to solve the puzzle, he realizes a deadly plan is unfolding and is unwittingly caught up in a criminal conspiracy. One that carries life and death stakes for himself and his fellow passengers.
The Commuter also stars the wonderful Vera Farmiga. It's set to be released on January 12th, 2018.
Hasbro and Machinima have released the first images from their upcoming new Transformers series Transformers: Titans Returns! This is the second chapter of the series that began with Transformers: Combiner Wars. If you haven't watched this series, you totally should, especially if you're a fan of the original 80s Transformers series! This series is seriously made for all of us who grew up on Transformers. It's definitely better than the live-action Transformers movies! Here are the details that have been released for Titans Return:
Picking up right where the destruction of the Combiner Wars left off, TITANSRETURN takes the action of the Prime Wars Trilogy to new ‘heights,’ and features return appearances from many fan-favorite Transformers characters as well as introduces new Autobots and Decepticons. In the series, enormous Transformers called Titans are awakened and these massive characters bring massive problems. Trypticon, a gigantic lizard-like Transformer, rises to wreak havoc on Cybertron, while Windblade and a rag-tag team of Transformers must resurrect an ancient ally. Not all Transformers will survive, as beloved heroes are changed forever while others’ sparks are blown to oblivion. Like Combiner Wars, sophisticated storytelling reveals more than meets the eye for older audiences and kids of all ages when a sinister secret is discovered.
Peter Cullen once again reprises his role of Optimus Prime and he will be joined by a host of fan favorites including Judd Nelson, who is reprising his roles of Rodimus Prime and Hot Rod from the 1986 animated Transformers movie, Michael Dorn as Fortress Maximus, Wil Wheatonas Perceptor, Nolan Northas Metroplex and Jason David Frank as Emissary.
They will be joined by the returning voice talent from Combiner Wars, including Abby Trott (Windblade), Jason Marnocha (Megatron), Frank Todaro(Starscream), Lana McKissack(Mistress of Flame), and DashieGames (Menasor), as well as a new set of influencers like MatPat (Computron), Rob Dyke(Devastator) and Tay Zonday(Chorus of the Primes).
The series features 10 episodes at approximately 11 minutes per episode and it will premiere this November on Verizon's mobile entertainment destination, go90.
For all of you who are fans of the series Vikings, you'll be happy to learn that The History Channel has renewed it for a sixth season! The news comes before the shows fifth season has even premiered.
Season 6 will consist of 20 episodes, and production is scheduled to start this fall in Ireland. I love this show, so I'm super excited that we will at least get one more season after Season 5 comes to an end.
It was also revealed in the report that series regular Katheryn Winnick will make her directorial debut in Season 6, as she is set to helm one episode. So, that's cool!
Series creator Michael Hirst had this to say in a statement:
“It has been my pleasure and my privilege to work with History and our partner MGM over five seasons and 69 episodes of ‘Vikings.’ Now we are ready to begin production of a 20 episode season six that will deliver a huge and unexpected revelation to our audience. There are many reasons why I love this show, not least for the commitment and creativity of everyone involved in making it, but perhaps even more important is the spirit that drives this production – one of the happiest, most collaborative and most authentic productions I have ever been involved with. And so we sail on.”
Eli Lehrer, executive vice president of programming for History added:
“‘Vikings’ has creatively sailed to monumental lengths. The series has evolved from early raids in England, to the heart-stopping death of Ragnar Lothbrok, to the fierce battles of the Great Heathen Army, and now we’ll see the sons of Ragnar exploring and conquering the known world. Michael Hirst has only scratched the surface of his epic saga. We look forward to continuing our partnership with one of the greatest writers in this era of Peak TV and entertaining our viewers with 40 new episodes over the next two seasons.”
Sounds like if the series does well over the next two seasons, we might get to see more! This series always helps fill the void when Game of Thrones isn't on. I'm excited to see what lies in store for the characters in this show over the course of the next two seasons!
CBS has released a new featurette for Star Trek: Discovery that puts the focus on composer Jeff Russo and the score that he created for the opening title sequence of the series. It shows him working with a 60-piece orchestra and we get to hear the score that he came up with. It's actually really good and it wonderfully blends the original musical cue with the new theme. Listen to it below and let me know if you like it or not.
Star Trek: Discovery will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The series will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.
The cast for the series also includes Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham, Michelle Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou, Doug Jones as science officer Saru, Anthony Rapp as fellow science officer Stamets, Terry Serpico as Starfleet admiral Anderson, Maulik Pancholy as chief medical officer Nambue, Sam Vartholomeos as junior Starfleet officer Connor, Mary Wiseman as Cadet Tilly, James Frain as Sarek, astrophysicist and father of Spock, Chris Obi as Klingon leader T’Kuvma, Mary Chieffo as L’Rell, a Klingon commander, Shazad Latif as Lieutenant Tyler, Rekha Sharma as Commander Landry, Kenneth Mitchell as Kol, Clare McConnell as Dennas, Damon Runyan as Ujilli, and Rainn Wilson as Harry Mudd.
I loath this Fifty Shades franchise. I didn't even realize that there was going to be a third film until this teaser trailer for it popped up. The movie is called Fifty Shades Freed and It looks like the two main characters, Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, are getting married. That obviously means Anastasia has to be kidnapped.
I'm sure the latest sequel will be filled with more of the laughably terrible dialogue that these movies excel at. Screen Junkies has done a great job of highlighting the ridiculousness of that dialogue and the story that these films tell. You can watch those here and here.
Anyway, if you have any interest in seeing what is to come, you can watch the trailer below.
Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson return as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades Freed, the third chapter based on the worldwide bestselling “Fifty Shades” phenomenon. Expanding upon events set in motion in 2015 and 2017’s blockbuster films that grossed almost $950 million globally, the new installment arrives for Valentine’s Day 2018.
Fifty Shades Freed is directed by Fifty Shades Darker’s James Foley (Fear, House of Cards) and once again produced by Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and Marcus Viscidi, alongside E L James, the creator of the culture-spanning blockbuster series. The screenplay is by Niall Leonard, based on the novel by James.
I'll just wait for the Honest Trailer to be released for this movie.
Warner Bros. is moving forward with their development of a feature film adaptation of Robotech. According to Deadline, the studio has hired Wonder Woman scribe Jason Fuchs to write the script. I've gotta say... I have no problems with that.
Between him and director Andy Muschietti, who just directing IT, it seems like the live action Robotech film is in goods hands. I'm excited that we might actually see a pretty awesome adaptation of the classic 80s anime series.
Whatever has been done prior to Fuchs and Muschietti's involvement is being thrown out the window as they are going to be starting from scratch as they work on the script together. The film is a high priority for the studio, but Muschietti won't start production on it until after he make the sequel to IT.
Robotech takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off an alien invasion, with the fate of the human race ending up in the hands of two young pilots.
Robotech is one of those series I grew up watching and I would love nothing more than for this movie to turn out to be completely badass. Only time will tell if we will get something that the fans will actually embrace and enjoy.
