The first trailer has been released for a new horror teen comedy called Tragedy Girls. The film is described as mix of Heathers and Scream in a social media run era and that's pretty much a perfect description. Murder becomes trendy! Here's the synopsis:
Best friends Sadie and McKayla are on a mission to boost their social media fandom as amateur crime reporters hot on the trail of a deranged local serial killer. After they manage to capture the killer and secretly hold him hostage, they realize the best way to get scoops on future victims would be to, you know, murder people themselves. As the @TragedyGirls become an overnight sensation and panic grips their small town, can their friendship survive the strain of national stardom? Will they get caught? Will their accounts get verified?
The movie has been getting great reviews and it looks like the kind of crazy and entertaining murder comedy that I'd enjoy watching. You know... because sometimes murder is funny... in movies.
Tragedy Girls stars Brianna Hildebrand (Deadpool) and Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse) as the two murdering psychopaths. It also stars Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) and Craig Robinson (The Office), who is also a producer.
Tragedy Girls was directed by Tyler MacIntyre and it's set to be released on October 20th.
Independence Day director Roland Emmerich has signed on to direct a World War II film based on the legendary Battle of Midway. Lionsgate picked up the distribution rights to the film, and I'm sure they are hoping to ride off the coattails of Christopher Nolan's successful film Dunkirk. The thing is... Emmerich isn't even in the same league as Nolan when it comes to filmmaking talent. Thanks to Deadline, we have some details on the story that the film will tell:
The film is an epic telling of the Battle of Midway, a turning point in the Pacific theater of World War II. The story follows the real soldiers and aviators who pulled off the unbelievable to turn the tide of the war in June 1942.
The movie will have a $100 million budget and Lionsgate’s Patrick Wachsberger talked about the project, saying:
“We’re thrilled to bring the action-packed story of one of the greatest naval battles in history to the big screen with a world-class creative team led by the visionary Roland Emmerich and a blue-chip roster of partners. This is epic and heroic storytelling for a global audience at its very finest.”
As a history buff, I think it's a great idea to make another film based on the Battle of Midway. However, I'm not too thrilled that Emmerich is going to be directing it. All that means is that we are going to get a mediocre film with big special effects and action sequences. The story will have no substance or soul.
Directors like Steven Spielberg, Mel Gibson, Christopher Nolan, Clint Eastwood, David Ayer, and Michael Bay have all given us more of the most recent World War II films. Some of them are better than others, but they're all solid films. Can Emmerich actually give us a great WWII movie? Only time will tell, but I'm not counting on it.
What do you all think about Emmerich directing a film based on the Battle of Midway? Are you more optomistic than I am?
Thanks to Mark Ruffalo, we have a new photo of Vision to check out from the set of Avengers 4. In the image, we see Paul Bettany as Vision sitting down to finish up some paperwork.
One interesting thing that I noticed in the image is that Vision still has the Infinity Stone in his head. This means that when Avengers 4 roles around Thanos still hasn't gotten a hold of all the stones. The stone that Vision is sporting is the Mind Stone.
At this point, we really know nothing about Avengers 4. I imagine we won't really know anything solid until after Avengers: Infinity War is released. While we wait for the mysteries of the MCU to be revealed, we can always look at photos like this and speculate on what we think it means and what will happen.
A classic clip from Reddit has surfaced of the series Nick Arcade, and it's sure to give you a healthy dose of nostalgia alongside some good old gamer rage as well. Melissa Joan Hart (Clarissa Explains It All, Sabrina The Teenage Witch) has to get 25 rings in Sonic The Hedgehog 2's Green Hill Zone and for whatever reason just can't figure out how to make it happen!
To her credit, Sonic 2 was still in beta at the time so she was kind of flying blind while playing, BUT SHE LEFT SO MANY RINGS BEHIND! I couldn't handle it when she couldn't make her way around the loop, and it looked like Jason Zimbler couldn't either. Check out the whole event in the video below.
Holy shit! This is our first look at Stranger Things star David Harbour all decked out as Hellboy in the upcoming reboot and He looks awesome! You won't hear any complaints from me about the design of Hellboy in this movie. I love it! You'll find another image below.
The film is said to be a much closer adaptation of Mike Mignola's amazing comic and it also stars Ian McShane asProfessor Broom, Milla Jovovich as the Nimue, Blood Queen, Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, Penelope Mitchell as Ganeida, a witch who has decided that the Blood Queen's wrath has gone on for too long, and Daniel Dae Kim will play Major Ben Daimio.
The film is about Hellboy going to England, where he must defeat Nimue, Merlin’s consort and the Blood Queen. But their battle will bring about the end of the world, a fate he desperately tries to turn away.
If this photo of Hellboy doesn't at least get you somewhat excited about what director Neil Marshall is planning, I don't know what will. What do you think of the look!?
Hellboy will hit theaters sometime in late 2018. For more details on the Hellboy reboot and to catch up on all our previous news for it, click here.
If you're a fan of Jackie Chan, today is our lucky day! We already posted a trailer for his sci-fi action film Bleeding Steel. Now we have a new trailer and wicked cool clip from his upcoming action revenge thriller The Foreigner. This movie looks incredibly good!
In the clip, we get to see Chan get in an awesome brutal fight with some bad dudes in the woods. As you'd imagine he lays the beat down on them. Then we have the new trailer which offers us some additional new footage from the film.
In the story, Chan takes on the IRA because his daughter was a victim of one of their terrorist attacks. It seems like one of the people who know who is responsible for that attack is Pierce Brosnan, and Chan has to compel him to talk to get the information that he's looking for.
The Foreigner, starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan, is a timely action thriller from the director of Casino Royale. The film tells the story of humble London businessman Quan (Chan), whose long-buried past erupts in a revenge-fueled vendetta when the only person left for him to love -- his teenage daughter -- is taken from him in a senseless act of politically-motivated terrorism. In his relentless search for the identity of the terrorists, Quan is forced into a cat-and-mouse conflict with a British government official (Brosnan), whose own past may hold clues to the identities of the elusive killers.
The movie was directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, Edge of Darkness, Green Lantern), who also directed Brosnan in 1995’s 007 film Goldeneye.
The Foreigner will hit theaters on October 13, 2017.
Before director AndyMuschietti jumped on board to write and direct the feature film adaptation of IT, the movie was being developed for years by True Detective creator Cary Funkunaga. I was actually really excited about his vision for the film, but Muschietti ended up making a hell of a great film that audiences are loving.
For those of you who are interested in learning more about the alternate version of the film that was being developed Funkunaga, a great video series has surfaced from LowRes Wünderbred called "Deconstructing Cary Funkunaga's IT."
The series offers us some insight into the development of the film that I'm sure many of you will find interesting. I completely forgot that at one point they were looking at casting Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One) in the role of Pennywise The Clown! That would've certainly been interesting!
The series also dives into the different drafts of the script that were written and as you'll find there were some major departures from the book. For example in one script, Richie Tozier and Stanley Uris were combined into one character! After watching these videos, I'm kind of glad that Funkunaga didn't make the film. I think Stephen King fans would have been pissed.
I'm incredibly happy and satisfied with the film we ended up with.
It seems that Nicolas Cage is doing more movies than ever, and that is saying a lot, as the man has an already extensive resume. Now he will star as a big-game hunter in an independent action movie Primal. The movie was announced at the Toronto Film Festival and production is scheduled to start on October 23 in Puerto Rico.
Primal will be directed by Nick Powell, who is a veteran stunt coordinator that worked on The Bourne Identity, X-Men: The Last Stand, and Resident Evil. The script is written by Richard Leder, and it centers on a hunter for zoos who has booked passage on a Greek shipping freighter with a fresh haul of exotic and deadly animals from the Amazon. A political assassin who is being extradited to the U.S in secret also happens to be on the boat. Things get interesting on their voyage when the assassin escapes and releases the captive animals, throwing the ship into chaos.
The movie sounds like a pretty interesting concept, but it also sounds like B-Movie material. But I'm sure we will have a better idea what the movie will be like once we get a trailer.
One of the greatest things about Middle Earth: Shadow Of War is that the game is really doing a lot to expand the lore of the Orcs, and this latest trailer is a perfect example of that. The Feral Tribe contains a group of Orcs who hunt as well as honor the wild beasts of the land.
Learn more about them in the trailer below, and get ready because Middle Earth: Shadow Of War launches October 10th.
The Apple iPhone X has made waves with its $1,000 price tag, although there's no denying it does look pretty damn cool. I was about 1000% sure I wouldn't buy this phone before watching this video, and now after watching I'm down to like 500% sure I won't be buying it because who has that kind of money to blow on a phone?
See how you feel and if you can justify it by watching the video below.
