Um... What? Did I hear that right? As I was looking for some interesting things to post, I came across some information that Doritos has made a hybrid Doritos bag and music player that looks like a tape deck on the bag. The best part is, it plays the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 soundtrack. Of all the things I never expected to happen, this is probably the top of the list.
Doritos and Marvel have a cross promotion going, but who would have thought they would make a Doritos bag that plays music!? In some strange way, it makes sense. A strong element in the Guardians of the Galaxy films is music. There is a tape deck that plays Star-Lord's music that has both an important role in the film and has great tunes for the film. Even the title of the film is called Vol. 2, reminiscent of an album release.
The bags will be available to order online April 28, while supplies last. So, if you want to enjoy a nice novelty bag of Doritos while listening to the new soundtrack, this is the best way to do it.
The soundtrack includes:
"Flash Light" - Parliament
"Father and Son" - Yusuf / Cat Stevens
"Surrender" - Cheap Trick
"Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang" - Silver
"Come a Little Bit Closer" - Jay & the Americans
"Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" - Looking Glass
"My Sweet Lord" - George Harrison
"Southern Nights" - Glen Campbell
"Bring It on Home to Me" - Sam Cooke
"The Chain" - Fleetwood Mac
"Lake Shore Drive" - Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah
"Fox on the Run" - Sweet
"Mr. Blue Sky" - Electric Light Orchestra
"Guardians Inferno" - The Sneepers, David Hasselhoff
Altogether, it's a great soundtrack that just makes me want to see the film more than anything. The first Guardians album ended up being 2014's Number 5 biggest selling album in the U.S. and the top selling soundtrack. I expect the second to do just as well.
According to various reports, Robert Zemeckis, the director of Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, The Walk, and others has at least met with Warner Bros. about directing The Flash. Zemeckis is just one of many directors that the studio is meeting with to possibly direct the movie.
The rumor started at Screen Junkies with a video in which they say that Zemeckis is "in talks" to direct the movie. That claim was refuted by movie scoop guy Umberto Gonzalez, who said:
Not true. NOT in talks. He took a meeting and that is it. They're still meeting with other directors. https://t.co/I6jcXsmcVa
Even though, he says the director isn't "in talks" he does confirm that the director has met with the studio. With the studio meeting with other directors, anyone could end up in the director's chair, but it's cool that they are looking at bringing someone on like Zemeckis!
I actually would love to see Zemeckis direct the flash. They guy is an incredible filmmaker and storyteller that makes wonderful visually stimulating films. I think he could do some great things with The Flash. So, he's got my support if that's who the studio chooses.
The Flash has already gone through two directors that consist of Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) and screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith (The LEGO Batman Movie writer). Zemeckis is definitely a step in the right direction. I'm interested to know who else the studio might be talking to.
Ezra Miller will star in the film and races into theaters on March 16, 2018.
CBS Films has released the first photo of Helen Mirren in the upcoming supernatural thriller based on the story behind the legendary Winchester Mystery House. Mirren plays Sarah Winchester in the film
Winchester follows the story of firearm heiress Sarah Winchester (Mirren), "who was convinced that she was haunted by the souls killed at the hands of the Winchester repeating rifle. After the sudden deaths of her husband and child, she threw herself into the 24-hour a day, seven days a week construction of an enormous mansion designed to keep the evil spirits at bay. But when skeptical San Francisco psychiatrist Eric Price is dispatched to the estate to evaluate her state of mind, he discovers that her obsession may not be so insane after all. Winchester will take audiences inside the labyrinth like house that is believed to be one of the most haunted places in the world."
I'm extremely excited about this movie because I've always been fascinated with the Winchester Mystery House. I've visited it a couple of times already and it's so intriguing, especially the story behind the house.
The movie is being directed by Michael and Peter Spierig (Predestination) from a script they co-wrote with Tom Vaughan. The movie also stars Jason Clarke, Sarah Snook and Angus Sampson. Winchester is expected to be released in 2018.
So far, I've enjoyed every Netflix Marvel Series, even Iron Fist. Could it have been better? Sure, but it was still cool. Possibly one of the best aspects of the series was Jessica Henwick who plays Colleen Wing. She recently talked about The Defenders in an interview with EW and starts to get to hype it up saying:
"It's good, it's really good. I think people are going to love seeing characters interact with each other, they're going to see Colleen and Misty, they're going to love seeing Luke Cage with the Iron Fist, Danny Rand. I think fans are going to freak out."
Pretty big words, but I believe her. Personally, I haven't felt betrayed by the Marvel Netflix sereis. She also had this to say about how Collen will be starting out in the series:
"We pick up with Colleen not in New York - Which is crazy, as all the shows have been predominantly in New York. We find her a month after we left her. It's really interesting she hasn't been able to deal with the emotional trauma she dealt with in Iron Fist. So it build to a head and she explodes in Defenders."
This tells a lot while also asking some questions. If she's not in New York, where is she? Asia? We know that last we saw her was with Danny where Kun Lun was supposed to be, but of course wasn't. Is that the emotional trauma, or is she still dealing with being ex-hand. Or maybe almost seeing Danny Die? Or watching her sensei disappear in the rain. So many things to ask. I think one of the things I look forward to really is seeing all these great characters interact with each other. I love the relationship of Danny and Luke in the comics, and I can't wait to see how it's handled in the series. I know a lot of people have given Finn Jones a hard time for the role, but if he can play well off of Mike Coulter, then I'll be happy.
In this video from Netflix, Bill Nye (the Science Guy) explains...well, the science of the streaming service's huge geek-friendly hit, Stranger Things. I feel like the teacher in the show did a pretty decent job of laying things out for the kids, but who can resist a little more Bill Nye in their lives?
Mark Gibbon has officially been seen on the set of Supergirl! The actor, who will be playing the infamous General Zod was snapped and filmed by people who happened to see the show filming its series finale in Vancouver.
Gibbon had been rumored to be joining the cast as Zod and this footage seems to confirm that is who he will be in the series. Will Supergirl be able to stop Zod? I guess we'll have to wait and see! Thanks to io9 for the heads up.
Mega Man, Rocket Raccoon, The Hulk, Chris Redfield and more are joining forces to attempt to take down a new foe, and he's going to be tough to take down. Mega Man villain Sigma and Marvel baddie Ultron have fused into a super being that reminds me of an old storyline between Marvel and DC comics...read more on GameTyrant
Have you ever wanted to be Wolverine? Wait, you have? That's a little messed up, isn't it? That dude has gone through some serious shit in his day. You're telling me you'd want to experience all that suffering? Whew, this got dark really quickly.
Well, for those of you who'd just like to pretend to be Wolverine, here's a fun and cheap way to accomplish that goal (without the pain of stabbing and killing the love of your life). Sploid points us to this video of how to create your own Wolverine claws with popsicle sticks and some craft supplies. Seems a lot easier than getting adamantium melded to your skeleton, eh?
McG no longer has "the POWER!!!!" The Terminator: Salvation director, who has been attached to direct Masters of the Universe for awhile now, is no longer a part of the production. This is great news!
It was recently reported that Sony Pictures would be releasing the film on September 20th, 2019 and at the time it was still believed that McG would be directing the film. It's no secret that I'm not a fan of McG or the films that he's made, so I couldn't be happier about this.
The news comes from EW, who says that the studio is currently on the hunt for a new director. They also reveal that David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel) is currently writing the screenplay for the new feature film adaptation of the classic He-Man cartoon series. The studio is also looking at meeting with high profile actors to fill the roles in the film.
Masters of the Universe has been in and out of development for years. Earlier on, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra director Jon Chu was attached to direct the film from a script by Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow. One of the earliest drafts of the script was written by Justin Marks (The Jungle Book). It was called Greyskull and everything I heard about it was epic! I kind of wish the studio would just revisit that script.
It'll be interesting to see who the studio brings on to next to direct the movie. Is there anyone you'd like to see take it on?
Industrial Light & Magic Visual Effects Supervisor and writer of Rogue One: A Star WarsStory John Knoll has another Star Wars idea. According to THR, Knoll told attendees of the National Association of Broadcasters his idea is still a work in progress:
“I have another idea I’ve been tinkering with, It’s maybe 75 percent there. I haven’t pitched it to [Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy]. It’s another Star Wars thing.”
Did you think he was gonna run his mouth about a pitch before talking to the big dog?! Rogue One writer or not, that's an easy way to get walking papers in the Disney family. Obviously, just the news alone is a reason to be excited as I think the Rogue One team did a better job capturing Star Wars nostalgia than The Force Awakens team. I wonder what story Knoll could be looking to tell?
