The first full trailer has been unleashed for Universal Pictures' The Mummy and it's actually got a fun adrenaline fueled kick to it! In the trailer we witness Tom Cruise screaming for his life as the plane he is on is crashing. He was transporting the mummy on the plane, so of course, the curse of the mummy caught up with him.
As we expected, this movie in no way represents the original film that inspired it that so many of us love. I've been pretty vocal about how I don't really care for the modern day setting, but I have to say that the movie looks like it could be a blast to watch. We get to see some pretty cool stuff in this trailer. It pretty much looks like Mission: Impossible, but there's a mummy involved.
Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.
Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
The movie was directed by Alex Kurtzman from a script written by Jon Spaihts and Christopher McQuarrie. It also stars Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance (American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson) and Russell Crowe (Gladiator).
The Mummy opens up in theaters June 9th, 2017.
